Serandite, she had decided, was mean.
The Captain she had met at Barren Pines could be excused. Hadn't Sue attacked her, too? Maybe the Captain just didn't know that not everyone was a zombie. Maybe Sue had attacked the Captain or something, like he had her. So really, it'd been an even mix of evil-not-evil. Hopefully not all of the Negaverse was like Serandite.
Virgo could hope. She wrinkled her nose and continued to pick snow out of her hair. As much as she liked Serenade, Crystal Academy was awfully cramped and it brought back bad memories sometimes. The setup was nothing like Barren Pines, but the idea behind it was exactly the same, and that scared her.
The Princess was safe, though. Virgo had made sure of that.
She looked around. It seemed like Destiny City was always empty when she was patrolling. It was boring, and lonely, and it was something that had to be done, really, so she did it, but it was so boring.
There was someone. That nagging instinct she'd ignored meeting Serandite told her to be quiet, but... Virgo ventured forward a little, close enough to see red hair. Lots and lots of red hair.

You know, both the senshi and the negaverse did very little to make sure they blended in as ordinary citizens. It was both a blessing and a curse. If he'd ever wanted to hide when he was prowling about the streets, but it was something to consider. The upside to that was there was no way in hell he could mistake the garbed girl staring at him as anything but a senshi. She'd been in the shadow, and admittedly, he hadn't been paying close enough attention until she was too close for comfort.
He stared at her, and she stared at him, and he instinctively found himself beginning to circle closer.
"Awfully cold night for you to be out here by yourself, little bird." Obsidian mused lightly enough, his gaze still keen as he closed the distance between them. His scuffle with Nerissa had taught him that it wouldn't be particularly wise for him to underestimate what these girls--and particularly fruity boys--could do once they stopped flipping their skirts about.
He watched her for several more seconds, weighing his options. She still hadn't moved, hadn't struck at him, and that was a curiosity. "What brought you here of all places? Not exactly the nicest spot in town..."
He waited.

Oh dear.
Virgo hopped out of the bushes, overshooting--again--and pinwheeling her arms to catch her balance again. The snow crunched smartly beneath her heels as she laughed. What kind of idiot couldn't jump right? Well, she hadn't had much practice. Presumably it would get better as she practiced. Right? "It is, isn't it?" She shivered, adorably exaggerated. It worked on most people, the overplaying her adorability.
Well, actually, come to think of it, no. Hadn't it failed on...
No matter. Not everyone could be mean like they were.
"I was walking," said Virgo, "and it was boring so I walked a way I didn't normally walk." She smiled, the question clear in her eyes: Why are you looking at me like that?
After her pause, she held out one hand as if she expected the redhead to shake with her. She said, "I'm Sailor Virgo. Who're you?"

He instinctively jerked back and out of the way when the girl hopped forward and almost fell without him even doing anything. Tilting his head somewhat to the side, Obsidian held his ground and listened to her talk, nodding after a moment. "Especially when you're wearing s**t-nothing." An idle nod to her attire, and it struck a chord of amusement with him that she didn't seem to have any idea of who or what he was.
"Good in the day time... Not so good at night, where things can creep up on you." He offered casually enough, and he eyed her hand for a moment as though deciding whether or not she was serious. And she seemed dead serious.
Well. Soon she'd just be dead.
He wouldn't take her hand again, only let a fist lash out and smash into one pale, pretty cheek. It would undoubtedly knock her back, if not flat over, and he shook his fist out as though that would help alleviate the stinging some. "Well, that's not really important. You aren't going to live long enough that it'll matter."

"I wouldn't call it that," Virgo was saying, "I think it's very pretty." Her thoughts weren't really on the redheaded guy or the conversation. She was trying to concentrate on a feeling, a weird one that said something intrinsically wrong was creeping up on her. Papa had described feelings just like this when telling stories of his time as a Marine, and usually it was right before--
She fell right over when he punched her, landing hard on one shoulder. Wha--
See, in stories Papa told, he listened to that instinct. That was why he always caught the fist and proceeded to kick Vietcong a**. Virgo, however, was getting up and looking completely confused. And hurt as she asked, "Why would you do that?"

Pretty. He caught that word even as she fell, tongue licking over his teeth thoughtfully as he watched her hit the ground hard. "Ouchie." Came the idle comment, watching her as she tottered unsteadily to her feet again like a newly born lamb. Poor little lamb. She looked surprised, almost--confused. Confused!
She still didn't have any idea of what was going on, and she confirmed that much when she asked her next question.
"I wanted to." Was the first and simplest answer, and he stepped around to her side for a moment, circling again. "You're a senshi. And getting your starseed would make me a very popular man." Obsidian offered his version of a sympathetic look, but it was ruined by the grin curling at his lips. "This'll be fun though, I promise." And he was stepping in as though getting ready to deck her again.

One hand over her cheek, Virgo stared up at him. This was not like sparring with the other Zodiacs. With the Zodiacs there'd be laughing, giggling over how hard she'd taken that punch. This guy--well, she was pretty sure he was a Negaverser now--he looked like he was going to laugh, but not in a good way.
Virgo shuddered.
"Um--I know Captain Nealite said starseeds collect gunk, but really they don't, so I'd like to keep mine, okay?..."
She was catching on when she brought up her fists. "Won't you please give up," she asked, not really expecting him to--but she felt she had to say it. Weird. Okay, moving past that--she didn't look like she was going to attack, didn't feel ready to, but really, what was she going to do?
Virgo still thought the redheaded guy had a shred of humanity was the problem.

"She's right, you know. And the longer you keep it, bad things will happen." It seemed she already knew the contrary, but that was fine. Deception and deceit wasn't normally his route anyway, though props to Nealite for trying.
Her fists were suddenly pulled up, and his eyes sparked with interest. That was almost cute. "Mm... Maybe if you ask me one more time, I'll consider it." He drawled, and his wooden sword was soon tugged free from wherever it'd been kept in the Nega-realm or what have you. Each Senshi he encountered seemed so different from the next--and yet they all had that fatal flaw that either made them cowardly, delusional... or in this case, just goddamn naive.
Obsidian lashed out at her without warning, seeing if he couldn't strike her shins with the flat of his blade, maybe knock her to her knees. If she was watching though, she could easily just hop backwards--hell, even counterattack if it suited her.
"On second thought, nah. We're just getting to know each other! Giving up would ruin all of that..."

It wasn't worth mentioning how very nearly Nealite had succeeded at deceit and deception. She didn't even think of mentioning it, distracted by what he'd said. Sure, it seemed like having the starseed of a senshi was pretty much asking for people in uniforms (uniforms with pants) to beat you up. Virgo was noticing this. Wasn't it better to--
She stared, fists falling down with a bit of shock, when the sword appeared out of, literally, nowhere. No Negaverse agent had ever done that before, not in front of her. Well, not that she could remember. And because she was staring, she saw it coming early enough that she could get a little bit out of the way--the foot that was still on the ground, though, was swept out form under her, sending her toppling to the side. This time, though, she wasn't completely blindsided; the leg that hadn't been hit, she lashed out with. If she managed to connect--and that was a huge if--it would probably hit his arm. Or the sword. Virgo rolled onto her back, and went to get up.
"I'm not that sure I want to know you," she said, on her knees because putting weight on the leg he'd hit had hurt more than actually getting sideswiped, "your definition of fun isn't actually really fun, you know?" A little bit late, maybe, but Virgo shifted her weight and got up, throwing herself at the redheaded Negaverser's knees. If she could just drop him for a minute, maybe she could get away!...

The girl crumpled to the ground, about as threatening as a wet napkin, and he was about to be disappointed. Then, her foot lashed out and smashed into his forearm, sending pain flaring in ripples in waves to his wrist and elbow. It was enough to make his grip relax a little on the sword, and eventually he pulled it back, fingers idly rubbing at the place where she'd probably bruised him. Just as well--she'd already gotten onto her feet... or, her knees, anyway.
That amused him. "No? That's kinda cruel, you know. I take time outta my night to come here 'n see you, and you turn me down?" He was crushed, really, and before he could say something snarky about her definition of fun, she was lunging at his knees. She hit him hard, but he'd shifted his stance to try and help lessen the impact. If anything, it at least helped his kneecaps, but he still went down hard on his a**.
"How was that not fun?" The lieutenant laughed and snatched for her short hair, having no issue with trying to bodily yank her over by it. If he managed that much, he'd engage her in a violent tussle, the sword clattering to the streets as he attempted to blacken her eye this time, not just her cheek.

How could he be so casual about trying to kill her?
Virgo had no idea how to react to this guy--he was frightening. Like some kind of terrible nightmare, the kind you woke up from and wondered where it came from. To put it simply, she was unable to comprehend where he was coming from, and so--
Well, she didn't answer except for a short cry of pain when Obsidian grabbed her hair and yanked, hard. Her eyes were tearing up like anything (he pulled hard, she was sure she was leaving some blue hairs in his grip) but she had recently decided she had an issue with dying. Recently being... well, just about right then. She lashed out, hoping her fist would impact somewhere important and flinching back as much as she could with his fist in her hair when she took a sharp hit to her eye.
Aries had never covered what to do when heavily outclassed and outweighed by your opponent. What the hell was she supposed to do?
She tried to bite him. (It seemed like a good idea at the time, okay.)

The sound she made had his fingers flexing a little more against her scalp, threatening to yank again until her fist lashed out and caught him in the chin. He felt his teeth sink into his tongue, and he did jerk, didn't even really notice he caught her in the eye while he turned to spit blood. "Ow." He sounded pleased rather than ticked off, and suddenly her pretty, white teeth sank hard into his hand.
Choking on an expletive or two, his hand lashed out to try and grab her by the jaw, squeezing it as hard as he could in a fit of temper before he grunted. A thumb slid behind her jaw, just below her ear before he pressed hard, trying to agitate the pressure point and force her to let him go.
"See? Fun. You're good at it, and you're making me really, really want to gut you like a fish, so that's how I know you're doing it right." Obsidian grunted, trying to yank his hand free to see if he couldn't snatch her by the throat. It wasn't fun, not really. "I'm lying, by the way." About the fun. This was a scared little girl trying to fight back, and he was rather disappointed.
Well. Whatever.

"Decay of movement!"
A voice sounded from behind the pair, a black-and-blue senshi poised in a partial fighting stance.
It was a voice Obsidian was likely familiar with. Nemesis certainly found it easy herself to remember that huge load of red hair. The other girl, the victim in the situation, Nemesis did not know. If she squinted just a little bit... Oh, you have got to be kidding her. Was that a senshi getting her a** nearly reamed on? Did anyone know how to defend themselves these days?
It was fortunate that Nemesis had been patrolling the area - she did not want to think of what could have happened if she hadn't been around. It really wasn't looking good for Sailor Virgo, hell, wait a second, this wasn't going to be looking good for herself in a few seconds. She had nothing up her sleeve. The element of surprise had been completely destroyed by using her attack, and even though Obsidian soon wouldn't be able to move, he could do so right now.
There were downfalls to everything. s**t, it was so stupid to rush into these things. But when she saw someone in trouble, her instinct to 'help' rushed into overdrive. She had to do something before it was too late, it just so happened that that 'something' would put her at a disadvantage.
"Hey, good to see you again..." First method of distraction: Talk.
She vaguely remembered him being somewhat talkative.

Virgo's eyes were closed. This was good, because vomiting on your opponent might work as a distracting tactic but it was also pretty gross. She could smell the blood, but... she had more pressing worries at the moment, like how she was going to escape from this alive. The taste of blood flooded her mouth--
Ouch! "Nique ta mere," she gasped, eyes flying open; it really was a gasp, because he had one hand around her throat and suddenly there was not enough air. What air she did have went, quite immediately, to her gesture towards the other senshi and a hoarse shout: "Virgo Immaculate Reflection!"
In the meantime, well--she had to get away, this might be the perfect chance, and she brought her knee up, hard. It impacted something, and his hand loosened--she jerked back, stumbled back far enough that she was out of his reach and spat out whatever blood in her mouth she hadn't already swallowed. Ugh, she felt so faint...

He recognized that voice.
Just as his head snapped around to look, the girl underneath him managed to nail him in the ribs, and he felt her slip through his fingers even as he grunted and tried not to wheeze. All right. Fantastic. Virgo was forgotten even as he turned to face Nemesis. He remembered that attack from last time, and that was why he was already lunging at her.
"Long time no see, sweetheart!" He still managed to grin, not quite sure what Virgo had done, and not taking the time to dwell on it. "You look as useless as ever..." One fist lashed out, trying to catch her with it even as he grimaced at the feel of a dead weight settling in his muscles.
This was not going to end well.
