Another night, another child to be sent with their new parent. He glanced at his sister; she was sitting in his lap, wearing a green coat over her favorite sweater. He'd been surprised; Darcy, in a coat? She was reading, a toddler in her lap. He couldn't see the title from where he was sitting, though it seemed to have captured his sister's interest.

He read over her shoulder. Typical Darcy, reading a book on biology. There was silence in the cave for a long while; though Aaron knew they should have been keeping watch for the guardian that was due to arrive any moment.

Darcy looked up at the voice, closing the book. Ah, so the guardian was here, was he? About time. She stood up, child in one arm and balanced on her side, book in the other. "Good evening." she greeted, looking up at the adult with a small smile. "So glad you decided to join us."

Aaron followed his sister, taking the toddler from her. Honestly, she could drop the child holding her like that! What on earth was she thinking?!? He held the little one securely with both arms, offering the man a small smile.

Bowing, eh? Darcy liked this man already. "It is quite alright, I understand." she said, nodding once. "We requested your presence for a job. A parenting job. Say hello to your new daughter." she said, looking too amused as she motioned to the little girl her brother held.

Aaron stepped forward, bringing the little freckly one into view. "I apologize, Sir.....this must be quite a surprise." he said, offering an awkward smile. So much for being polite and tactful this time around instead of dumping the guardian into the deep end of parenting.

Darcy smiled, not even trying to hide how funny she found this. "You're quite welcome." she said, nodding once. "I'm sure you'll have fun, so no worries there." She looked to the little girl, smiling. The little girl actually liked the book, huh. She looked down at the cover, debating a moment. Well, it wouldn't be to hard to find another copy. "Here, you can take the book with you so your new father can read the story to you." she said, holding the biology book out to the little one. She had to admit, a kid interested in science was absolutely ADORABLE. "Take good care of it, okay?" she said, patting the girl's head.

Darcy smiled; she was definitely going to be keeping an eye on this child. She was so....interesting. She then turned to Vance, smiling. "If you have any questions, feel free to ask." she said, leaning back against the rock.
