Many thousands of years ago a prophecy was foretold by the world's most renowned prophet, Edward Himblerig. As most prophets, what he said was very vague but the most common interpretation was that the world as they knew it was coming to an end. After this vision Himblerig went, or rather was referred to as going insane. He staid in his quarters for weeks on end franticly reading and copying ancient runes and mystic passages of dialect, until one day he emerged and went out to the town square and shared his "last discovery" he told of a world with no magic but with lights that came from the walls and from poles out of the ground, a world with beasts made of steel controlling man, and these mechanic monsters ruling over the land bellow them, the sky above them and the sea between them. And of magic one day returning to the world. After that he walked out of town and then simply disappeared.

Approximately one year later a small group of adventurers came back from a 'dungeon crawl' with a book of mysterious origins, they studied this book for many moons until one day, a party member read out the last of the untranslated incantations as they put the book down on a table. Then something happened, time for them stoped as everything around them changed, it was all a blur, then it stoped, they looked around to see unfamiliar surroundings the book was the same distance from them but there was three inches of glass between it and them, they were in a room where lights were coming from holes in the wall and ceiling but was not produced by fire. In a time where things they saw everyday were nothing but stories for kids. In a civilisation that was nothing like there own. In a world that knew nothing of its past, only what was left to trick them.

As the blinding blue light faded back into the mystirous book ben looked around at the scene thinking quickly the best option open to him was to hide... after turning invisible he wanderd over to Yuthrane and said quietly "This looks an awfull lot like NOT the inside of our cabbin"

And he was right... the space they were in was very different to thier cabbin, it had light comming out of the cieling and walls, their were books all around them, but they were made of some other matirial to leather, and the floor was some hard stone, though it was pollished and decorated. Quite different to the fire lit, leather bound book filled, wooden planked floor 2-bit shack they were in moments ago

Yuthrane nodded. "That it doesn't." He stood slowly and uttered a few runes, making a few passes in the air. After a moment, he looked at Ben. "Those lights aren't magic, or, at least, magic that I can't sense." He looked back at the table where the tomb they had found was, except it wasn't the same table, but the book was still there.

"Okay, that book is there. That damn book sent us here." Yuthrane went to touch the book, but found his hand impeeded by glass. "Hmm... flawless. And perfectly flat. Curious."

Jack linked arms with Karen and Moonstone, grinning.

"You're not going to the library today, Moon! I don't care if you think the weekend girl doesn't do a very good job. It'll give you something to do on Monday. We are going shopping!"

((Maybe Tiffeh can just ask to check up at the library, make sure everything's ok? or something?))

Karen had never quite understood why she was friends with Jack. She suspected the large quantities of food in her fridge (and the fact that she had a fridge, along with a place to put a fridge in) had something to do with it.

Jack was a lovely, cheerful person. Which was most of the problem. Karen had issues with lovely cheerful persons. Especially lovely cheerful persons who loved to shop. Considering her choice of wardrobe, the ex-park ranger didn't spend a great deal of time in clothing stores.

But she allowed herself to link arms with Jack. Hopefully, she'd get some skipping in. Too few people skipped these days.

Jack laughed at the look on Karen's face.

"Oh come on Karen, you know you need some new clothes! You can't wander around in khaki forever!" she said, smirking. She had the right to criticise her, too. Jack had a strange sense of style, but it suited her, made her look glamourous and at the same time gave her the musician look. Today she wore a pair of blck pinstripe pants cut raggedly to make cutoffs, and a shiny black leather tank top. Her sunglasses perched elegantly on her nose, she looked every bit the jazz musician she was.
"Maybe i should pick out your wardrobe. Now that could be interesting."

((Sorry about the long description of clothes, but wanted to get a feel for her character. xp ))

Karen's eyes widen in utter horror. Visions of pink frilly dresses tormented her mind, almost causing her to run. It took several calming breaths to recollect herself.

She doubted Jack would seriously try anything like that, her taste wouldn't allow it. However, Karen had once been ambushed by family members participating in an extreme makeover show. It was one of the reasons she was no longer speaking to any of them. That and the fact she had dropped a giant tub of tapioca pudding on her sister at her wedding.

Jack grinned.

"Nothing drastic. Definately no make up. You don't need it girl! Of course, neither do I," she said, tossing her hair dramatically.

"I know, i know. I'm not normally this strange. Must be something in the wind."

Jack laughed. "Come on Moon, no one's THAT stupid. Besides, it means you have something to do on Monday. Come on girl, look at you! Your best jeans have a hole in them for Christ's sake! I'm taking you both shopping, on me. I got quite a few tips last night."

Karen grinned. She quickly tried to wipe the smirk off her face, before Moon noticed, but failed spectacularly. The librarian was unaware that the ranger was the one who kept sneaking in to rearrange her books, merely to watch her yell. It was infinetly entertaining.

Indeed, Karen had just put several of the library's more, suggestive, material in the young adult section. She couldn't wait for Moon to find out. Of course, she wasn't sure anything could top the time she had built a giant fort out of the encyclopedias in the front hall. The librarians hadn't been able to get through for nearly an hour, and Moon's face had literally turned purple.

Noting some strange looks from the others, Karen pointed off at a table. "I think there's a hobo peeing over there," she said in an attempt to divert attention from herself. Another one of her favorite escapades had been luring all those hobos in the library in at night. They had all gotten a free sandwhich, and Karen had gotten to watch Moon nearly explode in the morning.

Jack smirked at Karen, knowing what she was trying to do. Well, it's not as if we do her any LASTING damage..
