"You'll be out soon, Dinah, I promise." Alice said softly to the creature meowing with utmost displeasure in its designer pet carrier. The cat couldn't see outside the bag but she knew she was moving and she knew she was not in her home; Mommy had brought her someplace new and she was []not happy until she knew where this new place was. Alice could feel for the poor cat in her bag, she was just as unhappy with this new situation being forced upon her. So she'd frozen the water in her bath and couldn't get out! It was an accident! Alice didn't think she needed to go to a bloody school where she would have to live and meet...new people.
Ugh, new people. New people who wouldn't know the rules. New people who would think it was okay to talk to her as they wished. Hmph! She'd like to see them try it! Alice's things had been sent before she had and were waiting for her in her dorm, now she just had to find her room. The cat's carrier hanging from one shoulder, she held the strap with one hand and a scrap of paper in the other with her assigned room and information about having a partner. A partner? What the bloody hell?! She was being forced to socialize! Ugh! She didn't want to. She really, really didn't want to. Alice just wanted to go home right now, right this minute, right this very second! She let out a long, drawn out sigh of defeat as she stopped in the middle of a hall and looked around.
Of all the...! Why did she get the power she had and not something useful like a mental 'you are here and you need to be here!' map? Or astral projection or something? Hmm...if the library is that way, and the cafeteria was that way...which way was her room?! Guess there was only one solution now...
...Alice had to find someone and ask for help. Dinah yowled from her carrier and Alice frowned, reaching through the opening in the top of the bag to lightly pet at her cat. "I know, I know. I'm sorry. It should only be a few more minutes..." Alice stopped where she was to look around again, searching for someone to ask directions from. There had to be someone here she could stop and bother.

Luckily (or perhaps unluckily) for Alice, her search for another semi-comprehensive soul was about to end.
Yves considered himself a doer when it came to getting things he wanted. He didn't just lay around, complaining and waiting for something to happen. No. He got mobile and complained for those things. After a day of relaxation proceeding his father's farewell, Yves became slowly and irrevocably bored. He tried to play with his various reptiles, but after their feedings they hardly wanted anything to do with him. He had considered picking up one of the books he had mulling over as of late, but they were still packed up in little boxes and he didn't want to shuffle through them all until he absolutely had to. Chances were, he'd be living in a room full of boxes for the next few weeks.
So he took to his feet and let himself drift into the unknown. That was, the rest of the academy grounds. Compared to the bayou, this was a relatively tame expedition that had him about running to the next area to see if the scenery changed any. He had found the cafeteria and the classrooms, and was just about to let himself into the library when he saw a faint flash of blue. Another student, it looked like!
Yves did not let himself look too excited to see the stranger, but he did allow a little smug curl of his dark lips before he began to swagger her way. She was bearing all the signs of someone tragically lost- the vacant, if irritated look and a scrap of paper which she would cling to like a life preserver, likely bearing some sort of useless direction as to where she ought to be.
"Ah, cherie!" He called to her after making sure his black, snakeskin jacket was in straight order. "You lookin' lahk you could use some company. Is'er anythan ah can do to help?"

Whether Alice was about to get lucky or not was a matter of personal opinion, really. Lucky for her because she would be getting help, but that was really as far as her luck would be going. She was about to give up and just go to the library where she could sit and coddle Dinah until the poor cat had to be put back into the bag when she heard footsteps. Hm? Oh! Someone to help her! Alice pulled her hand from inside the bag to hold onto the strap again, turning around when a male voice called out to her.
Oh, great, she'd owe a guy. Who knew what could come of that. Oh well, beggars couldn't be choosers. Dinah was at least quiet now after the reassuring pet, so at least if he was the type to snitch there wouldn't be anything for him to tell. Cat? What cat? She didn't have a cat outside her room, that's just silly. Alice turned her head to look over her shoulder at the boy walking up to her. She looked him up and down, taking note of his interesting coat. Hm...she didn't have on a coat herself, but then she wasn't feeling cold at all. In fact she was dressed like it was summer with a light strapless top, a skirt and then leggings underneath that only went as far down as about mid-calf! But at least she had on boots. His accent threw her off a little, it wasn't one she was really used to hearing. The heck? Where was he from?
"I'm just trying to find my room is all..." She said simply, turning around to face him fully as she turned her gaze back down to the slip of paper she was depending on. Bah, stupid paper. Useless. As she moved Dinah made a soft mrowl of displeasure to which Alice frowned and looked down at her, reaching in to scritch behind her ears. "Do you know your way around here at all? I..cannot find the dorms." This was a lot more humbling than anyone would believe. Alice did not like asking others for help.
...Oh, she should probably introduce herself. She stepped up closer to the boy and held out the hand that had previously been comforting her cat. "I'm Alice."

Of course Yves noticed what she was wearing, though from a completely aesthetic view obviously. Those were good, designers clothes she had on, and those boots didn't come cheap. Good, he thought, to be dealing with another privileged child. Truth be told he kind of expected to be surrounded by streetrats and computer nerds or even ugly chicks like Carry. He didn't really think Haley Joel Osment kids or Keanu Reeves would be showing up, because you couldn't believe everything you saw in movies, but the thought would have made him shudder had he paused to entertainment. Alice, as her name turned out to be, was a rather attractive girl, which he supposed made sense. If he was here, there would have to be another few pretty people in the melting pot, right? Right.
A sound came from the shoulder-bag that the other bore, and his dark eyes immediately homed in on it. She reached into it and gave whatever it was a scratch, speaking as she did, telling him what he had already figured out.
"Mais of course, mademoiselle. 'ere and dere, I'm only new myself, mais I know my way to da dwahms." He took her hand, but instead of doing the normal thing and shaking it, he lifted it up toward his face and pressed his lips against her knuckles, his eyes lidding themselves slightly. "Enchanté, Alice. I am Eef."
He lowered the girl's hand, allowing her to slip from his dark grip as he not-so-subtly craned his neck to peer into her bag. "Is dat a cat?"

Alice actually had the same worries at Yves. There was an entire facility meant for people like her? What kind of other people were 'like her' though? Certainly they couldn't have any other similarities aside from their current situations. She looked him up and down, her expression remaining stoic and neutral. He was...interesting. She had never met a person with an accent like his before, and she couldn't quite place it. Southern perhaps? That would explain the hospitality towards her. Hopefully all the other students here were just as sensible. Though Alice knew not to get her hopes too high. Her eyes widened as he brought her hand up to kiss instead of just shaking it. Huh...while she wasn't opposed to that kind of gentlemanly behavior it wasn't something she expected or was quite used to. Ah, so he was new too. Damn. As long as he knew his way though it would be alright, she supposed. "It's a pleasure." She replied simply, raising a brow at his name. Eef? Ugh, this accent was going to make it hard. Alice would just avoid saying his name if she could help it.
She dropped her hand once it was let go, holding into the strap of her bag again as he craned his neck and asked the magic question. Of course he was going to ask. "Yes, her name is Dinah." Alice reached down to pat the side of the bag. "Unfortunately I cannot bring her out to show you just yet, perhaps when we find my room I will." After all, Alice was very proud of her cat. Dinah was a gorgeous feline who deserved to be loved and praised by all who saw her. She straightened up a bit and held out her paper for Yves to take and look at, drumming her fingers on the side of her bag. She was growing impatient and tired over this, but only because of the welfare of her cat. For once it was nothing against the person before her.
"Now, about my room...?" He would still help her, right?

"Ah see." His eyes seemed to flash a little at her further words. Was she trying to give him an incentive to get her where she wanted to go? A small, lazy grin pulled at his features like he knew something, and his dark fingers whisked the paper out of her hands like it was slicked with oil. Soft chocolate eyes flickered over the page once before he nodded, more to himself than her. "Dis way, Alice." He pronounced her name something akin to Ahlees.
The male sauntered his way back the way he came toward the dorms, talking as he did. "Whar you from, cher? You talk lahk de yoo-kay."

Incentive or not, Alice would do almost whatever it took to get him to help her. Almost. He took the paper and that hand joined her other on the strap of her bag, following him down the hall while keeping a close eye on where they were going. If this was really the way to the dorms then she would need to know how to get there!
"My family is from Sheffield, originally." Alice said proudly, brushing a bit of blue hair from her face. "So you would assume correctly. Though my accent is considerably lighter than that of my mother and father." Then again she had been a little kid when they moved with only her family to influence her speaking mannerisms after that. Since they were on the subject of accents, however... "And yourself? Your accent is...intriguing." Guess that was as good a word as any.
