Teal color eyes stared into blue-gray ones. Finally the blue-gray one blinked and the owner of them ask, "Do you really think I can stay on with-out holding on?" The human heard the answer in her head, that only she could hear. "I rather not get hurt for a point-less reason," she replied. "You know, you move too fast and wildly for me. Why don't we do something better then getting me hurt." The young woman was quiet for a moment as she listen to her wolf's reply. "Hmm, I know lets have a race." The wolf smirked as she told Keahi what she thought, which made Keahi do a face-palm. Of course that made Firemoon give a wolf laugh. "I'm not stupid, and you know that. I was thinking about finding someone else to race."
"I know, I know," the female wolf reply to her rider, before going in search for someone to race. Keahi had to follow along, she was at least glad they were doing something fun yet proactive.

Eustace walked alongside LunarFlare, searching the training arena for any acting out. There were betas for this, but she wanted more than anything at the moment to get out of her office. Finding people to chew out for stupidity always did get the blood pumping and the brain working. She did like to ride LunarFlare, but if she didn't walk or do some kind of exercise during the winter, then she would get out of shape. For this purpose, Eustace trained often in the winter, though mostly when few other people were out. She felt that it gave the impression of an aloof and unapproachable Captain, someone to be feared and respected, though she was hardly anything to fear. LunarFlare seemed to like the solitude, though he rarely made any comments about it. Something changed in him when he became an Alpha. He all but lost whatever curiosity he'd had as an adolescent and and he rarely ever joked around anymore.
Lunar had changed from when he was a new yearling as well. As he grew, he was slowly becoming more serious. Maybe it was just because he was an Alpha. Eustace sighed and rubbed the bridge of her nose. He could hear her thoughts, though he didn't reply. The part that killed her was that he knew it was worrisome and wasn't bothering to try and comfort her, even through their own private form of communication. She knew well that he wanted to look strong as a superior. She knew that feeling very well. Any common human or wolf behavior, like affection, sadness, or worry, could be taken as a sign of weakness, especially to the other wolves.
Eustace watched as a new apprentice practiced by himself, though it seemed like he was struggling. Curious about his trouble, she watched him out of the corner of her eye as she walked. Every so often, he would glance back, almost as if he was trying to see if she was still there. She smiled. That was comforting. He was probably just nervous because he thought she was watching. With that in mind, she stayed and openly watched him. The kind of nervousness when one was being watched by the Captain was nothing compared to fighting an actual centipede. And there were repercussions from excessive nervousness when fighting a centipede. Distraction during battle was not tolerated.

The wolf's and human's steps fell together as they made their way to the field from their barracks. They both kept an eye out for someone to race. If there was nothing going on during the day, Keahi like to make sure that she did some practice for herself and Firemoon. She didn't want to get out of shape. Yesterday she was doing some target practice. She sighed and stretch her arms over her head. The one she did hate about winter was that there wasn't a lot to do, which made things boring. Which was one of the reason why she made the point to train as much as she did.
When Keahi and Firemoon reached the field they stop at the edge and surveyed those that where there. Her eyes first landed on an apprentice who was having having a little trouble. "What about them?" Firemoon suggested, pointing her nose to a rider and her wolf.
Blue-gray eyes turn to see who it was only spot Eustace and Lunarflare. "You want to race the Captain and Alpha?" she asked to make sure.
"Of course I'm sure. Can you think of any better way to test our skills, then to see how you compare with the those who are on top," the wolf replied.
The human let out another sigh as she rubbed the back of her head in thought. "Fine, but lets go over and say hi first," she told the wolf, as she started to head over to the Captain and Alpha.

Eustace stood, watching the struggling apprentice as he attempted to shoot at a distant target. Not a single bullet was hitting it, not even the outermost ring. She sighed. This kind of training wouldn't get him anywhere. Without his patron there, he couldn't tell what he was doing wrong from that distance. Since she was currently on a self-appointed break, Eustace decided that it would be only natural for her to step in. After all, this entire fort was her responsibility. After all, there was no lieutenant. She sighed and walked slowly, calmly, over to the apprentice. After she called his name, she could hear him mumble some worried words under his breath. Eustace smiled. That was good. That was very good.
The Captain of New Eve corrected the apprentice's stance, showed him the correct way to hold his weapon, and pointed toward the rifle's scope. "This sort of thing is what it's used for." she stated simply, leaving him there. When she looked back, she saw him visibly ease up as if some great disaster had been averted. Perfect. Absolutely perfect. If she could just maintain that kind of reputation, Eustace would be set. As ever, LunarFlare was a silent bystander, standing a few yards away from what had happened. She sighed and shook her head. She supposed there was no helping it.
Just as she exited a situation with a one terrified apprentice, a private was approaching Eustace, and quite calmly. Keahi Xiophne was a more seasoned rider. It was natural that she wouldn't be so hesitant to speak with the Captain of New Eve. It was expected that people should be more professional around her, but Eustace had to admit that she was disappointed that Keahi wasn't more scared. Eustace stopped where she was and nodded to Keahi.

For all Willowpelt's bulk and size, the gray and white wolf was light and if she dared to say it even elegant on his feet. Not as elegant as some of the other wolves but that was just fine. After all, Willow was no dancer and Angel didn't expect him to be. For now she was content with him not tossing her off while they circled an obstacle course at the far end of the training field. The first pass was a chance for them both to eye the course before as they passed close a second time and Angel lifted her rifle to her shoulder, they began. The shattering of plates, bowls and other such things broke through the winter air, echoing even as yet another quick succession of bullets slid from the rifle. The kick back from the rifle felt wonderful, added with the sweet scent of gunpowder and tossed up snow from each of Willowpelt's passings were doing wonders to ease the usually cheerful woman's sour mood.
She'd woken up up itching to do something what that something was she had no idea. She just knew she couldn't stay in bed our in her room for that matter. So what had the girl done? She'd grabbed her rifle and all but dragged Willow out from his den and onto the then empty and icy training field. Her haste to flee her room and had it been humanly possible her skin was clearly seen in her loose flowing hair something she rarely if ever did while she was training. A snort from beneath her and she lowered the rifle to survey her handiwork. Every plate and bowl that had been balancing on the wooden posts was laying in a shattered heap on the ground, a sight that pleased her greatly. The rumbling beneath her was her only indication of what Willowpelt thought of her currently state of mind or the current situation.
The Captain and Alpha are about.
I'm aware of that Willow. But they haven't approached us and that's perfectly fine with me. It wasn't to say she didn't like the Captain or Alpha for that matter, they'd been both her and Willow's apprentices after all. But Angel just wasn't in much of a mood to deal with anyone right now.
Black Angel...Black Angel? Where do your feathers fall?
There was a subtle narrowing of the woman's green eyes, though her stiffened posture was more of an indication than anything else that the wolf's taunting sing-song voice had hit something. The something that had dragged her out of bed and onto this unholy, cold field. She'd taught him that song when they were both apprentices. Back then it had been something to pass the time while doing countless drills and practices. Now, now it was being used to describe the other side of her. The side that took over during battles, or at any random time it felt like doing so. And right now? Right now she was dancing between white and black. Not for long of course, never for long. After all was dark not stronger than light?
My feathers never fall for they are the stirrings of sorrow. That was all the reply she would give the wolf as she dismounted and slid the rifle over her shoulder. For Willowpelt though, she knew that would be answer enough.

The scritch of a pencil filled the air beneath the large ancient oak. Occasionally glistening green eyes glanced up from the notebook resting on slender knees to eye his subjects. Clyde had come out into the frigid winter air to seek inspiration. Trapped inside his barracks as he had been for days on end, slender frame unable to resist the icy winter air, his mind had become likewise trapped and closed. Unable to find any sort of muse he had bundled up warm as he could and convinced Spirit to follow him out into the Fort. And such there did he finally find the inspiration he had come looking for, for pacing the fields was the perfect model for him to work with, his lovely Captain and her bold and silent Bonded LunarFlare. It was unusual for the Private to work with a subject so large, his works were generally detailed pieces of much smaller objects, though we also had many drawings of the wolves, and landscapes of the forests. But for a piece such as this his Captain was an unusual subject. Laying down his pencil for a moment as Eustace aided a wavering Apprentice, thus blocking his view of his subject, he stretched his hand and rested it behind Spirit's ear as she laid her head down. He gave the fields a quick scan and found Keahi approaching the Captain. Her stride told him she was making a particularly Bold mood and the way she was b-lining for the captain told him she was challenging her. Not for Rank, no she was not nearly that bold, but a test of skill he was sure. As the Captain pulled back up and resumed her patrol of the fields so did Clyde pull up his pencil. He was lucky, so far it had seemed she had not realized she was being observed, so her posture and form remained natural and perfect. He hated it when his subjects realized they were being drawn, it gave the whole piece an unnatural feel.
White fur gave the appearance of a large snow drift brushed up against the tree as Spirit watched her Bonded's pencil flying across the page. She loved the beautiful works her created, and she loved even more to watch their creation. As the lines formed on the page it also seemed as though another world was being created, and she was being invited into it. A world where her coloring was normal and her size appreciated. She was disappointed as her Bonded lay the pencil down, even though she knew it was only for a moment, and she was thrown back into the real world around her. Lifting her head she examined the Alpha and the other wolves on the field. She was sure LunarFlare had noticed her already, but she made no move to show her submission to him. She had always felt removed from the rest of the pack, and thus also felt detached from their rules and hierarchy. It was well known she felt no desire to become an Alpha or even a Beta, and her size proved that if she got the position she would certainly not last long. So it would always be that Spiritfeather would hover around the edges of a pack like an unwanted ghost, but in return she would always have the freedom to go as she pleased, she had no obligations to the pack unless the time of the warm winds had come again and brought with them the vicious monsters that sought to destroy the world she was forced to live in. And when that time came she would run with the rest of the pack, but her reasons were different than theirs, she would be running to protect Clyde. So long as he lived there would be another world for her to live in, and he would create it for her.

The nice brisk air was just what he needed to clear his head. That, and not a single male figure in sight, made for a good start to the day indeed. Of course such a thought only gets him a mild shake of the head from his companion, but he just lets her uncaring attitude roll right off his shoulders. It wasn't anything new, actually it was refreshing now and then. "You can't argue that this isn't a good day though Dust. The snow stopped falling for now, and it's crisp and clean out here."
The brown wolf beneath him nods her head mildly, enjoying the cool air herself. I did not say that it wasn't Ali. On the contrary, it was very pleasant, but she could distantly smell a few of the other wolves in the fort out and about. Their alpha was the only interesting scent though. One of the very few male wolves who could actually do something without being inferior in their actions. Not that she really had a superiority complex or anything, the male species was just faulty in so many cases it was easier to just fault them before they prove her wrong. Her rider could at least understand her somewhat there, his dislike of males didn't spread to other species so there weren't really issues with him and a male alpha wolf about. If their Captain were male, it would likely be another story.
"You're thinking too loudly again, Dust. I can hear you easily." Ali glances down from his seat on the wolf's back for a moment before reaching to pat her side. "We don't have to worry over such things. Our captain is not a male, and I'm not planning on transferring anywhere there is one anytime soon, so let's enjoy the weather without brooding, hm?" Perhaps a quick jog around the fort's perimeter before Gold Dust finds herself a suitable place to bask in some sunlight for the rest of the day. That wouldn't be too bad.

Keahi let out a took a deep breath, before getting too close to the Captain. Most would probably think she was crazy or stupid to just plain walk up to the Captain to challenge her to a race like this. Maybe she was. Though in the back of her mind she also knew that she had been here for two years longer then Eustace. That fact was probably the reason why she was able to be so bold with the Captain of her patrol. There was also Firemoon's reasoning for picking the Captain and Alpha. She silently curse Firemoon and her knowledge of her rider's need to make sure she was at the top of her game. A slight bump of Firemoon, let Keahi know that the wolf heard the thought. Which of course Keahi couldn't care less that she did hear. At least this way that only it show herself, but also everyone else, that she was comfortable enough to talk and make herself known to the Captain.
Once she reached the Captain and Alpha, Keahi saluted, showing them respect. "Greetings Captain Eustace, Alpha Lunarflare," she said. "I hope you don't mind my boldness, but I was looking for someone to race. Firemoon suggested I tested our skills against you and Lunarflare." Her hand waved to her wolf who was standing next to her. "Since I wanted see where our skills were at and to practice my riding, who else would be better then those who are at top. This will also let me know if I can keep up with you in battle." Hopefully, the Captain wouldn't mind her challenging her straight out, even if she didn't use the word challenge.
Firemoon walked silently next to Keahi, listening to the thoughts that raced though her head. If anything the she-wolf would want the human to relax once in a while, but she was always scared that she might disappoint someone. Her ears went back and her tail lowered in submission as they reach the Captain and Alpha. "Greetings Alpha Lunarflare. Are you up to a little race?" she asked, getting straight to the point. She could have him listen to Keahi, but she wanted to ask him herself. Firemoon was also tempted to asked the other wolves that are around too. Since they reach the training field, she also notice that Willowpelt and Spiritfeather were near. The wind also told her that Golddust was nearing. First she find out what Lunarflare will do before going to any others.

Eustace was aware of the presence of several other pairs out on the training field, each focusing on their own task. So long is it didn't break the rules, Eustace didn't care much about it, though it was unfortunate to her that she couldn't ever make friends. That was to say, as Captain, she couldn't risk being friendly with people. She had to be there as a strong, paternal figure. It was strange to think of it that way, but with the word maternal came some nurturing and loving aspects that the position of Captain was devoid of. Eustace must remain a stoic figure, silently watching, teaching and disciplining when needed.
Eustace nodded and smiled slightly when Keahi greeted her. "And to you, Keahi," she replied. She was taken aback when the private proposed a race. It was about the most preposterous thing she had ever heard, excepting some things she'd heard from a few perverted recruits back at the academy. It was ridiculous, especially seeing as how she was the Captain. It did seem like a fun idea, though, even if it would take a lot of double talk to agree to it and still keep what fragile reputation she had as a ruthless leader. And after that, there was still getting LunarFlare to agree to it. "I should be pleasantly surprised if you're able to keep up," she answered. It wasn't an acceptance or a rejection yet. She still needed LunarFlare's input.
LunarFlare eyed the new arrivals, keeping an extra close watch on Firemoon to make sure that she showed the proper respect. In a public place like this, even the slightest mistake on his part to deal a punishment could lead to less respect for him. He was already quite young to be an Alpha. He didn't need people thinking he was soft as well. Lunar was pleased to see that she was in possession of a brain. I am always ready for a challenge, but whether or not I find the activity appropriate is still under scrutiny, he answered, earning himself a bit of surprise from Eustace. It was the first thing he had said all day and to another wolf rather than her, no less.
Eustace was beginning to miss the days when she had to chase after LunarFlare to keep his nose out of things it wasn't supposed to be in. At least then he spoke to her, with the few words he knew. She nearly smiled, remembering his adorable, cautious voice. He would ask questions, searching Eustace's mind for the correct word or phrase to convey it. Eustace blinked away the memories. Now wasn't the time for nostalgia.

Black Angel...The name rolled through her brain and Angel tilted her head staring up at her companion. Willowpelt knew her mind all too well. Too well for her own comfort most days. And today was no different. But she wasn't about to try and shut the wolf out, he was a friend. The only friend she'd had since...since her family had thrown out her out. Feeling the brush of a cold nose, one gloved hand rose to trail through the dusky gray fur. She wouldn't have it any other way of course. Head tilting she looked toward the pairs of riders and wolves that had started to pop up all over the training field. She had spotted Keahi and Firemoon for quite some time but had made no move to approach the other private. When Angel was feeling iffy she didn't dare approach anyone lest her temper and own dark side got the best of her. Alas the captain and the other private weren't her concerns. Whatever they wanted to do was none of her buisness.
This just left the others. Darkened blue eyes drifted around the training field, first landing on the huddled form of a snow white wolf and rider. Spiritfeather, her bonded supplied and she gave a faint nod. The little female and her rider had always been something of a duo of loners but more by choice than anything else. The thought brought a slight chuckle from her throat and she shook her head, letting her gaze drift elsewhere. Aaah a figure she recongized. From a distance of course. Alirien Ten, yet another private. Older than her and therefore more experienced in the ways of living in the fort of course but that meant little to nothing to her. At least not now anyway. Tapping Willowpelt's shoulder, she nodded toward the approaching wolf and rider. She'd bother them...and if they didn't prove to be entertaining she'd turn her sights on Clyde and Spiritfeather.
His rider was such a fickle woman. Fickle and aggreviating. Letting out a puff of air the large wolf, shook a light dusting of snow from his back and lowered himself so that his much smaller and shorter rider could vault onto his back. That had always been their game. He'd never let his stomach touch the ground and Angel would have to find a way onto his back. Thus the vaulting. It didn't hurt, in fact he was pretty sure Angel sat much lighter on his back when she did such. Shaking his head, he started toward Alirien and Gold Dust. Very rarely, if ever did he approach the other wolves of the pack. Most times they approached him. Alas there was first time for everything. Greetings Gold Dust. He called dipping his head to the other wolf.

It didn't take too much for the brown wolf to notice the other pair headed their way. Well, the rider was one of the females among their ranks, so Ali shouldn't be too uptight over this meeting then, good she didn't want to set off her morning on a sour note. The wolf however is another male, well if he doesn't show himself to be incompetent there shouldn't be anything to concern herself over. Turning to face the pair she brings Ali's attention to them as well. We have company joining us, Ali.
Alirien had been set on observing the fort itself around them, and not the others out and about. Not until he would have to take notice of anyone, at least. Like, well, right now for instance. Gold Dust turning to face another direction and announce the pair heading towards them. Now, which private was she? A moment to go over the short list in his mind provides the match. Angel, a younger Private. Oh, but her wolf would be a male then. Ah well at least Angel herself isn't. I see them, Dust.
He waits for the pair to get closer, and watches the other wolf greet Dust first before raising his hand in a half-salute. "Morning, I see you've been practicing your aim." He lightly motions towards the rifle. "Though it isn't quite like you need the practice, word through the fort is that your aim is among the best."
Gold Dust returns the gesture, nodding her head a bit lower just to throw Alirien's balance off for a second or two, which earns her a small chiding that hold little weight. Greetings Willowpelt. Enjoying the morning with your rider?

Eustace shook her head. The consequences for losing such a challenge were too great. Although Alphas took their rank because of their size, not their skill, it would surely cause some discontent to see him lose to a Gamma. It wasn't that she didn't have faith in him, just that she didn't want to risk a loss based on her own relative inexperience. She had been in many battles before and made sure that she knew all of the formations and battle tactics by heart, but maybe that wasn't enough. "Maybe another time, Keahi..." Eustace trailed off, something a little ways off catching her eyes. She was being watched. A red-haired Private beneath an oak tree was watching her and... Was he taking notes? She frowned. He must be writing to the counsel in The City, telling them about every little thing she did, waiting for some fatal mistake to take her out of office. He certainly looked focused. Was he having a hard time?
The thought brought a smile to her face, though it didn't stay long. Her face must be calm and focused and that alone should get the point across. Eustace couldn't count on her voice now, not when her job was on the line. If the stern look wasn't enough, then she would speak, focusing on every little inflection and making sure there were no unwanted pauses or repetitions. It helped put her mind at ease about her voice knowing that Angel was around, but if word got around about her stutter, especially to the relatively new Privates, then there would be hell to pay. If this Clyde Stryder was up to anything suspicious, Eustace would give him night watch duty for the rest of winter. And if that didn't teach him the proper respect, she might take a page from Calla's book and get herself a couple of pistols just to keep the privates in line.
Eustace approached Clyde slowly, attempting to calm herself on the way. Although she did not have her rifle with her, one couldn't be Captain for long without learning a few other scare tactics. She breathed deeply, eyes determined. I will not stutter. My voice will sound fine. When she arrived, she kept her eyes off of his notebook. She didn't want to give away exactly what she was here about yet. It had come to Eustace's attention that when people were under pressure, they would admit to things that their superiors might not have otherwise known. "Salutations... Private Stryder."
LunarFlare did not mimic the motions of his rider, rather choosing to stay behind talking to Firemoon. It would seem that Eustace has made the decision for us, He said, watching her leave. But perhaps we can work out a challenge of our own. Firemoon, are you up to a little race? What better time would there be to assert his superiority than a challenge with a gamma? His advantage was not exclusively in his size, but also in his remarkable skill. LunarFlare had had to correct many a gamma's misbehavior in his time as an Alpha. He had a few tricks up his figurative sleeve.

Keahi was a little disappointed to be declined. It would have been interesting to find out how well she faired against the Captain and Alpha, even if they would most likely lose. Yet it was also a relief. That way she did have to find how the race turn out. "Alright, Captain," she replied and saluted as Eustace walked away. She was about to go see if she can find someone else, when she notice that Lunarflare was still there. It seemed like she will have to wait a moment until Firemoon told her what is going on.
Firemoon kept her attention on her Alpha, rather then his human rider. She was quite happy that Lunarflare accepted even though his rider did not. She knew that Keahi would have prefer to be part of a race too, but she could use one day where she wasn't working on her skills. "I'm honored that you still want to race me," Firemoon told him. The wolf now turn to her own rider, We wolves are going to have the race, so can go and enjoy a day of relaxation. And if I do find out if you still did some kind of training, you will regret it.
Keahi eyed Firemoon, at being told to take a day off. Fine, and good luck to you, she replied silently. "Good day, Alpha Lunarflare," she said, before leaving. After giving some space for the wolves, her blue-gray eyes surveyed the area. It seemed like everyone was already busy talking with other. She let out a sighed, as she wonder what she was going to do. She was tempted to maybe do some target practice, but she would hate to find out what Firemoon will do if she find out.
Satisfied that Keahi wasn't thinking about doing any training, Firemoon turn her full attention back to Lunarflare. "What should be the terms of the race?" she asked.

Clyde didn't try to listen to what the challenge was, he didn't particularly care. As the conversation stretched on he worked in the details of her uniform, filled in the shading. Maybe later he would return to his barracks and recreate the piece in paints. It seemed like it would be a good idea, a painted portrait of his Captain. It had been awhile since he'd felt like pulling them out, most of what he'd done of late had been in words. As he continued to glance up at his subject he didn't even realize that she was coming towards him. Instead he was studying her face. Through all the time he'd been observing her and recreating her likeness, he had yet to fill in her face. Not once all morning had he seen an expression that seemed to fit Eustace's face, and expression that seemed natural and perfect. But as she strode towards him he saw a brief smile across her face. Almost nostalgic, but gentle and natural. As Eustace crossed the final space between them Clyde had been absorbed by his artwork. Her greetings fell on deaf ears as he worked to recreate the expression he had seen, for it had lasted only a moment, a heartbeat, and then she had replaced it. She had allowed the façade to fall for a moment, allowed him to see just briefly what lie behind the mask, before it reasserted itself. Her mask as Captain, the stern and unapproachable woman the ruled the Fort. Clyde knew it was a mask. When he thought back to her Apprentice ship to first Calla and later to Angel, she had been a different person. It was that person he had captured on his paper, everything Eustace had been before the burden of leadership had fallen on her as a lead cape. Clyde placed the finishing touches on the picture before he finally lay down his pencil and rested his head back against Spirit. Green eyes opened again, expecting to gaze upon the cold winter sky through the lonesome dead branches of the tree. Instead he saw only the face of his superior. Laying his notebook aside Clyde stood, and though he moved quickly he never once lost his grace, and salute his Captain. "Greetings Captain Vinarin." Was all his said, sure she had come to assign him some duty or another. He would wait and find out, best to speak only when necessary, listen when others spoke. One learned much that way, and got far.
Spiritfeather had known Eustace was coming towards them, she had never taken her eyes off the Captain. She felt no need to show respect to the woman, after all Eustace was not her leader, LunarFlare was, and he had chosen to remain behind. Gently she attempted to alert her Bonded of the Captain's presence, but he had descended into his creation. Spirit granted Eustace only brief eye contact, only long enough for her to know that her presence was acknowledged, before she turned her eyes back to her Clyde's pencil. The flurry as he filled in the final touches, and then finally recreated the face he had been avoiding through the entire picture. The being he had been creating on the page turned out not to be the woman who now observed him and was no doubt being angered by his insubordination in ignoring her presence, but instead a faint being, a distant memory. A young woman who was just learning. As Clyde finally laid the notebook aside and stood, Spirit lay her head down. Though her ears were perked and her tail still wrapped protectively around Clyde's feet, she closed her eyes and feigned sleep. It seemed the best way for others to leave her alone.

A yawn passed the lips of a male rider as he traveled around on his wolf. Late nights were not exactly a good thing when you wake up at six in the morning. It just made you sleepy the rest of the day as it was show obviously through the man. Blinking his eyes, he turned his head around, watching at all those who were out and about. New Eve was definitely different from White Shadow. He was one of the few who could say that whole heartedly. After all, he had spent about a year at the fort already. There was no longer the madness that was caused by Abigail, Alister, Calla or Alister and Calla's children. Not to mention he was different himself. Of course, most of those at New Eve didn’t know that. Not that he was expecting any of them to find out, much less anyone to find out why he had changed.
A snow white and cherry red marked wolf continued on while her bonded pressed his face into her soft and silky fur. You really shouldn’t stay up to late. Much less wake up this early, Dylan, she told the guy gently. She wasn’t about to lose her temper on him due to the fact that he was up was simply because he couldn’t sleep. She hadn’t been much better. Sure, she got more sleep by about two hours, but that was about it. They both had been thinking about many things that they managed to push out of their minds for so time. But they couldn’t keep it up forever.
Hey, you shouldn’t be talking, Dylan said in reply. His tone was a loving and kind one, despite his words. The two of them had been pretty close in the first place, but they had grown even closer ever since that happened. Sitting up straight, Dylan knew the crashing thoughts had woken both of them from their daze. The swish of his partner’s tail was enough to confirm it. Sorry about that Peppermint, he apologized to her. She had been the reason why he was still moving around everyday without hurting himself. He hated to make her feel sad.
Peppermint? I’m sorry, did I just hear you call me Peppermint? the female wolf joked. But in a way, by the name he called her she could tell how he was feeling. Usually he would just call her Pepper, but when he did use her full name, she knew he was feeling a bit down at the least. Stopping, she turned around nuzzled Dylan’s check before continuing on their walk. The male’s arms around her neck helped Peppermint know that he was feeling better already.
As they went about, the pair saw two wolves. Firemoon and LunarFlare, the solo Alpha. Peppermint dipped her head respectfully at her leader and the older female wolf. Greetings LunarFlare, Firemoon. She would at least say her greetings before the two of them continued on. After all, if she was thrown some rude comment it wouldn’t really affect her. It hadn’t taken her too long to get used to having to be respectful to Gamma wolves, despite being a former Beta. It was, however, a bit weird to her as they weren’t the wolves she was used to. However, by now she knew most of the wolves, even if she hadn’t really interacted with some. GoldDust was one of those she hadn’t really talked to but there was always a reason. There was first Dylan who was no longer really open, and then there was the fact that GoldDust’s bonded avoided most of the male riders.
Dylan on the other hand was busy looking up into the sky. Sighing he started to finger the necklace around his neck. He made no attempt at greeting anyone else at the moment due to being lost in his thoughts. He didn't look like it, but he was.
