Aphismet hadn't seen her since... well, since the whole fiasco with the Infections. He could swear Alex had been avoiding him, even! The white-haired chef had suffered from momentary self-doubt, thinking that maybe she hadn't wanted to be with him anymore, but he'd talked himself out of this state of mind. Alex was a kind and caring person, she probably only felt guilty for Zul infecting the Delaran Sigels... That was all nonsense. Riv would have gotten it elsewhere, if not from there. Aphi just wanted to see his Alex again, dammit, and when Christmas afternoon came around he decided he'd had his fill of waiting. He was going to take matters into his own hands!
He was going to go visit HER! ...And maybe hopefully sneak her few belongings into his car or her truck, and sweep her away to finally come live in Durem Caves North. She'd agreed, after all!
Rivener, of course, came along. The Scorpion had become very docile after the cure, back to the way he'd been before and then some. It was as though all the aggressive behavior had been bled out of him in those few violent weeks of infection. He'd done horrible things, but he didn't dwell on any of it. He acted like nothing happened, and so far so had Aphismet.
Still, those unspeakable things might be part of the reason Rivener now spoke so little.
Aphismet hoped Zul would change that. As they pulled into the Italian's driveway, Aphi turned a soft smile towards his ward. "Here we are, Riv. Ready to go?"
The Scorpion nodded, toting a wrapped gift under his arm. He hadn't really known what to get someone as ascetic as Zul, so he'd settled for one of the newest guitar-games to have come out over the holidays. He really hoped Zul didn't have it already. "Let's go, then," the Sigel announced, opening his door and hurrying to the door to knock.
Aphismet followed close behind with his own gift wrapped up for Alex: a copy of the Delaran house key. An invitation to come away with him right this very day. He hoped she'd still agree.

It was afternoon and most of the chaos from the morning was over with. The messes had been cleaned and the wrapping thrown away, although her house still seemed to be filled with animals of all sorts; not only was Louie enjoying himself with the ribbons, but Zara was still thrilled to chase the obnoxious Coffee-sprite-faerie thing around while the other two remained mostly complacent. The giant dogs and the cat left with Zeke, the fish swimming safely on the kitchen counter as everyone took some time to catch their breath. Alex had taken the break to show Zul how to use her computer for his own gift, which was why they didn't hear the knock.
But someone else did.
The door opened to reveal a tower of a man with short dark hair and off-blue eyes set above an unsmiling mouth. He wore a faded olive-green button up that ceased to be buttoned just above his chest, sleeves pushed up over his elbows, his blue jeans comfy and well worn. He was almost broad-shouldered enough to fill the modest door frame, although the expression on his face - or lack thereof - didn't seem to mind the fact that he himself was a bit of a door himself. All 6'4" of Brad stared to Rivener and Aphismet, not immediately responding to the two other than a mild look of surprise.
He recognized Rivener; that was the Raevan he'd seen come by when Alex went on her date with Aphismet - and that's when it dawned on him who the white-haired man behind the scorpion looking creature was. "Aphismet and Rivener, I presume," he rumbled in his own direct manner of greeting, his indigo eyes flicking between the two as he said their names. He took a step back to let them in, though he still was without a smile. "I'm Brad. Come on in, but please excuse the mess. The kids got carried away."
With a nod of acknowledgement to the two - he wasn't the type to stand there and gab, after all - he moved into the foyer and towards the living room, calling to the two in the back of the house. "Alessa, Zul, you have company." He was certain that using the Frei's name would make it obvious who was there to see him, and indeed, before he could hear his sister's voice raise in question, there was a clamor of something being knocked over and a short burst of laughter before the demon shot out of the hallway like a tan bullet.
Bone wings still laden with small ornaments in the hoops of his piercings, Zul was all wild-eyed joy as he paused just outside of the hallway, seeking the visitors. Once his eyes fell on Rivener, a wide, happy grin lit his features, charging across the living room and into the Scorpion, hands pressing against the Sigel's chest. "Rivener," the demon exclaimed with pleased surprise, his gloved palms slipping over the elder Raevan's shoulders to hold onto him, "Merry Christmas to you!" He paused, considering, before he chuckled in a soft, smoky sound, blue eyes briefly turning over the Scorpion's face, "No...Merry Christmas to me for seeing you."
"I swear he listens to you and yours entirely too often," Alex grinned as she came into the living room, wearing a long-sleeved sweater of dark emerald. It covered the bandages on her arms, but in all the commotion from earlier, she'd forgotten about her band-aided neck and the yellow-purple bruise healing over her left eye. She slugged her brother in the arm, growling, "You better have been nice!," before she mirrored her charge's actions; she darted across the living room barefoot and threw her arms around Aphismet's shoulders, kissing him fondly on the mouth.
"Merry Christmas Aphi," she murmured softly, barely-contained joy lighting her vivid green eyes that saw only him.

Aphismet hadn't met Brad before, and he'd only heard of him through Alex. The woman had failed to mention that her brother looked like some kind of brick wall! The chef paled lightly at the lack of a friendly smile of greeting. The first thoughts through his head were "Oh s**t, does he hate me for dating his sister?" and "If he were to kill me, I wonder where he'd hide the body?"
Thankfully Brad only briefly spoke to the Delaran chef, inviting him inside and introducing himself in the most to-the-point way Aphismet could remember seeing. Aphi, for one, offered a smile of greeting (belatedly!) and nodded his head at the man. "P-pleased to meet you, Brad."
That's as far as he got before the announcement caused a crazy commotion from somewhere in the house. Zul showed up mere moments later, all be-decked like a christmas tree and grinning so happily even Aphismet found his nervous smile turn into a reflection of that happy expression.
Rivener's face underwent the most change, however. His serious expression, the one he'd worn since his Cure, cracked away to reveal a thoroughly pleased grin, with more than a little relief thrown in. Either Zul didn't remember Rivener attacking him, or he didn't care. Whatever the case, Rivener felt a huge weight lift from his shoulders. He opened his arms, gift in one hand, and accepted the happy Demon in a hug.
"Mnnnh, Merry Christmas my Zul! It's merry for me too, for seeing you." Riv smirked, enjoying the flattering Demon as much as always. Zul always did fuel his ego so... "I got you a present! Come on, let's go open it over there." None-too-subtly guiding Zul away from the humans, Rivener headed for the living room.
Alex's appearance drew quite a few reactions from Aphismet. At first he was elated to see her looking so glad to see him. Then he was confused about the bruising, quickly followed by worry and concern. Then he was embarrassed as the Italian rushed to give him a big hug, pressing up for a kiss right in front of her very intimidating brother. Shyly Aphi wrapped his arms around her back and kissed back, but cut it a little short with a sheepish laugh. Dark eyes flicked up to Brad, checking for any threatening lunges that Aphi might need to duck away from.
"Merry Christmas, Alex. ...I hadn't heard from you in a while and you sounded so busy, and now I'm pretty sure this is why, hm?" He lifted a hand and brushed a finger along her bruised eye and bandaged neck. "What have you been doing to yourself? And why wouldn't you come see me? I missed you."
And since Brad didn't look like he was about to lunge, Aphismet leaned down for another short kiss, fingers straying to the dark hair and caressing soothingly. He returned her stare after this kiss, his dark caramel eyes finally seeing only her and glittering softly. "...I brought you your Christmas gift," he added quietly, fishing the small wrapped parcel from his pocket. It was the size of a small book, the key placed in a cotton-lined box so prevent it from clinking around in a telling way.

"I have something for you too," Zul purred in reply, allowing himself to be ushered into the living room and away from the three humans. He waited until Rivener was satisfied with their distance before his hands again sought out the Scorpion, fingers finding the Sigel's face and drawing almost tenderly over the tan skin. "How do you feel?" he asked quietly, a somberness in his voice that was only slightly coated with worry. He knew Rivener had been given the cure just as much as he had been, but he was allowed to fret for the one he didn't want to see sick. They hadn't exactly seen each other last in the best of conditions.
His hands slid further back, brushing over Rivener's long ears and beginning to entangle into the bi-colored locks, but he seemed to remember the mention of a 'present.' Not wanting to upset Rivener, or to make him think that his present was not important, his hands withdrew and he floated complacently in front of the Scorpion, head tilted back with a light smile on his lips. Zul had grown considerably in the last few months, and he hoped the Sigel would still hold interest in him despite the change that he was aware of in himself.
Alex paid absolutely no mind to the older man near by, her smile wavering before crashing into a guilty expression. When Aphismet's hand brushed by her injuries, her eyes widened with the memory of their existence, cheeks flushing in pink color in her shame. "Aphi..." Her green eyes sought his warm brown ones before she was captured in another brief kiss, whisking away most of the self-deprecating words that had almost passed her lips. Her slender brows lifted in surprise at the words, a quiet smile curving her lips in a near shy manner. "Aphi, you didn't..."
Even as she protested, her fingers slid over his in a stolen touch before carefully wrapping around the gift. It took several heartbeats before she was able to tell herself to look at the gift and not her boyfriend, to which her eyes obeyed for a few seconds. Curiosity and excitement flitted over her features before her attention again returned to Aphismet's gaze, her smile warming. "I have yours here," she replied, her voice low and soft, as if her words were far more intimate than what they were. "Do you want me to open it now?"
There was a soft grunt of amusement behind the two as Brad finally quirked a smile, a lop-sided expression that was clearly more teasing than fond. "Should I take the kids into another room...?"
The moment was broken. Alex's lips pursed, spinning on her heel and pointing a finger accusingly at him. "So help me, B, I will not hesitate to use his gift upside your head if you aren't being--"
Laughing in a manner that could only be described as quiet, the large man lifted his hands in a defensive gesture. "I try to give my beloved sister and her boyfriend some privacy," his brows lifted with amusement at the blush his words earned from said sister, "and I'm threatened within an inch of my life." Brad looked beyond the feisty woman to Aphismet, nodding to him. "Take note, friend, she's yours now."
Indignant words never left her open mouth, rigid before embarrassment overwhelmed her, turning back to Aphismet and muttering profuse apologies for her brother's behavior, along with a few words in Italian that were undoubtedly a detailed threat by the way Brad laughed. "It's nice to see you," she finally managed to say to her boyfriend, one hand resting over the chef's heart while the other returned to the hand holding the gift. "I really...really missed you." Alex had wanted to see him, feeling she really did owe him an explanation for the questions she had previously dodged. "I didn't want you to worry about me, with Riv and Eiry and the cure," she explained softly. "Some took it better than others, that's..." She motioned to her eye and neck, a small, apologetic smile on her lips.

Rivener's wings gave a soft flap of happiness. Zul had thought of him too? Zul had gotten him a gift? Rivener smiled, pleased and flattered. He slowed to a stop in the hallway half-way to the living room, far enough away from the humans that they couldn't be bothered unless Aphi and Alex really tried. Not that they would, Riv figured: the two must be all wrapped up in one another by now. The two Raevans would have their privacy here.
Zul's fingers over his skin, then through his hair, drew a soothing sigh from Rivener's lungs. The Scorpion tilted his head into the touch and stared into the other's blue eyes with half-lidded reds, completely relaxed and comfortable. "...I feel much better," Rivener said. He, like Zul, had changed somewhat from this ordeal. At least their feelings for one another hadn't been damaged, by all appearances. "I'm glad you're better too, my Zul. ...I'm really sorry about the stuff I did to you while we were sick. Let's just forget we ever fought, okay?" To seal his apology, Rivener leaned forward to where Zul had distanced himself, pressing their lips together briefly.
When Rivener broke that kiss, he floated back to the distance he'd been before, the perfect distance for exchanging a packaged gift. One long-fingered hand extended the present and Riv smiled. "I wasn't sure what to get you... I hope you like it." The bow on the gift was a sparkly-paper red flower instead of the usual fluffy ball of glitter. "Open it!"
Aphismet chuckled at Alex's, tilting his head affectionately. Oh god, he'd missed her SO much. She had a gift for him too? And why would she say it like that? Aphi's mind immediately began travelling down trails it had no business going down right now, and the chef blushed profusely, smiling sheepishly. Sh-she couldn't mean-
Brad's voice broke into those thoughts and Aphismet suddenly recalled the older man was there in the first place. Brown eyes opened wide and Aphi blushed even worse, clearing his throat and watching the two Italians exchange words. Wow, it's just like Alex had said. The two siblings were so-... they were very alike. Aphi could imagine Alex would be teasing her brother like this too if the situations were reversed. THAT thought brought a chuckle to the chef, dismissing most of the blush and the thoughts that had caused it. "I'm taking note, I'm taking note," Aphismet assured Brad, laughing lightly.
Alex turned back to Aphi then, the chef laughing at her expression lightly. He'd never seen her so... so undone. It was rather cute.
"Aleeeex," Aphismet rebuked lightly, tilting his head and placing a hand at the woman's cheek, keeping their eyes aligned. "Alex, you shouldn't hide this from me. I don't like that you're hurt, it's true, and I am kind of worried out of my skull for you, but I know you're a grown woman and you take all these crazy risks that I can't stop you from taking. You're no delicate little thing. I don't want to be shut out of your life every time you get a scratch. ...okay?" He grinned at referring to these wounds as scratches, when they were obviously much more than that.
Brushing that whole topic aside for now, Aphismet lifted the gift again, bringing her hand along with it. "Now go on, open your gift." She wouldn't be able to avoid him anymore if she accepted the gift anyway, so that previous little conversation would become a moot point. Or so Aphi hoped.

The demon's smile grew. "Good," he murmured, his voice low and hazy. His dark brows lifted at the apology, and Zul hesitated; he was supposed to pretend like he didn't remember, but he wasn't sure it was something he should keep from Rivener. The part he did have a hard time remembering flashed in broken pictures in his mind; a red card, surrounded by black, and pain like he hadn't known before. The Scorpion solved the dilemma by pressing a brief kiss to his lips, and the matter was settled as soon as they parted. They'd not speak of the addled moments unless specifically brought up.
Tan fingers wrapped around the gift that was handed to him, one digit touching the red flower while a wide grin crossed his features. Carefully freeing the bow-flower, he tucked it into the loop on the front of his gorget before gliding his fingers beneath the paper and ripping it open. The demon's brows knit together as the wrapping fell from the rectangular package, though surprise quickly dominated his features as he flipped the item over to look at the cover.
"The new game!" he exclaimed with clear shock, blue eyes lifting to Rivener's face. "You--Riv." The name was said with a soft, doting tone of voice, gripping the newest guitar game as he again wrapped his arms around the Sigel. He nuzzled into the Scorpion's shoulder, nudging the garments aside with his chin and pressing a soft kiss against Rivener's neck. "Thank you," he murmured with a grateful air, his smile small but genuinely pleased. Then, in a voice that betrayed his excitement, he asked in an impish manner, "You'll play with me later?"
The woman was more than happy to just pretend her older brother didn't exist, but it wasn't entirely hard to do when Aphismet started to speak. She rested her cheek comfortably against the man's warm palm, green eyes lidding and losing some of the venom that had been instilled there by sibling rivalry. Alex listened to her boyfriend's gently chiding but earnest words, feeling a bit weak in the knees and leaning just a little closer to him. Her lips parted to speak, but there were no words, only a grateful warmth in her gaze that he understood; Aphi had just given her the equivalent of sweet nothings, and had they not had an audience, the chef certainly would have been buried in more affection than he knew what to do with!
Alex withdrew from the white-haired man enough to better hold onto the gift he was yet again pressing into her hands, her expression slightly bewildered but excited. The woman was more apt to give out gifts than accept them - she was an odd duck and was always beside herself when gifted - but it felt different this time. Drawing her lower lip between her teeth, she gave her boyfriend a last playful glance before she left her slender fingers work the packaging off, careful despite her brimming anticipation.
She drew her thumb over the box, her eyes flicking to check for tape before she opened the lid. It was a key, but she immediately knew what it was for and what it meant. Alex blinked a few times before her wide eyes turned back to Aphismet's face, a slow dance of emotions on her face: surprise, fondness and hope. "Aphi," she whispered, his name held with great affection that mirrored in her eyes as the key was withdrawn. She pressed the simple metal piece over her heart, and despite her best efforts, her eyes were a bit on the teary side. He was so good to her, so patient, and still he wanted to see her everyday...
"Just say when," she finally managed to say, her voice still soft.
For once, the older man kept his thoughts to himself, his face mostly neutral at the exchange that he was certain he wasn't supposed to be an audience to. Brad lowered his hand to the couch, rapping softly against the pillow to call to the slow loris that was entangled in ribbons. He watched as Louie scrambled up his arm and onto his shoulder, lifting his hand to support the small critter before moving beyond the two towards the kitchen. He'd try to give them a little privacy in such a pivotal moment of their lives.

Rivener chuckled and watched Zul open the present, watched the demon's expression go from confused to completely elated. A bright grin nearly mirroring Zul's own lit up Rivener's features: he'd guessed right in getting this game! The frei was SO happy! Riv had used the very last of his money to get this game for his Zul, and it had been worth every single little penny.
Riv wrapped his arms around the half-formed torso that nuzzled at him, chuckling a little breathier and shuddering with happiness at the kiss to his shoulder. "I'm so happy you like it. Of course I'll play with you later!" Rivener was no expert at these guitar games, but he'd played a few times with Zul before... No doubt Riv would get his a** kicked again this time around. Not that it mattered who won (although Riv's pride always ruffled slightly at not coming out number one), as long as they had fun. And watching Zul look so focused on those scrolling notes on the television was very entertaining...
But now there was something else eating away at Riv, his curiosity finally speaking up from around the excitement of giving Zul his gift. "You said you got me something too?" the Sigel prompted, tilting his head and trying not to look too interested. His wings betrayed him, however, rustling like that in barely-contained anticipation.
Aphismet's heart must have stopped beating in the time it took for Alex to open the gift and react to it. Self-doubt, excitement, nerves, feeling foolish, a million emotions flashed through the chef and left, leaving him reeling. Aphi's sanity hinged on Alex's reaction. He watched her face like a hawk.
Hearing his name whispered like that was the catalyst. Aphismet let out the deep breath he'd been holding, feeling his chest thump back to life with a vengeance. He grinned at his girlfriend and laughed airily, his limbs unwinding from the tense springs they'd become.
Just say when, she'd said. Aphismet gathered his courage much easier now that she'd looked so happy, her eyes glazed like that. "How about today? Right now!" Aphismet took a step forward, raising both hands to the sides of her neck, holding on softly. "Please, that would be the BEST gift you could give me. When I go home later, to have you go home too. Please?" He grinned, brown eyes glittering with hope. She'd say yes, she had to, he could almost hear the words already!

Zul tilted his head back at the prompting, his light smile slipping into a more devious curve of his lips, a far cry from Rivener's sultry expression but quite a decent attempt. "Yes," he confirmed, withdrawing from the Sigel's arms with a slow backwards beat of his wings, "for my Rivener." The demon floated to a box marked "GAMES" by the television, putting his gift reverently on top, adjusting the rose-bow against his gorget before turning his eyes towards the tree. There were a few gifts left there - most in foiled wrapping, the tags writ in Zul's script-like hand writing - and it was there that he lowered himself to search. With a soft exclamation of triumph, he withdrew a small box that fit neatly in the palm of his gloved hand, and it was this that he brought the Scorpion.
He took Rivener's hand, pressing the red-wrapped gift into it. It was embossed with poinsettias and garnished with a silver ribbon, "My Rivener" being the only words written in flowing pen on the small tag. Zul had been proud of his purchase, and though it was small, he hoped Rivener would like it, too. "It looked like you," he said cryptically, his smile wide with anticipation.
The grin and laughter relaxed her in turn; she had supposed, somewhere in the back of her mind, she thought she was dreaming. Things like this didn't happen to her, and Alex just couldn't be graceful in accepting something that she hadn't even hoped for in all her years. That's why, when he told her just when he wanted her to make use of that key, the answer was as much of a no-brainer as agreeing to date Aphimset had been.
"Yes," she replied in a surprisingly even voice, even as her smile parted into a grin wide enough to rival Zul's. "Yes, today! Right now! I can't--" she laughed for a moment, the hand not holding the gift lifting to rest over his wrist warmly, "--can't say no to being able to wrap my arms around you and say, 'Welcome home!'" She didn't notice that the sweater sleeve had slumped just enough to show some of the bandage around her wrist and forearm, and even if she had, she wouldn't given it the time of day. Alex lowered her hand to instead curl her fingers into the front of his shirt by his stomach, leaning forward to kiss him yet again.
There was business to attend to! "B?" she turned towards the kitchen, the excitement beginning to creep into her features despite her best efforts not to jump up and down with joy.
"On it." The side door opened and close with a light clank of the screen door against the frame as the older Italian already began to move her meager boxes into her truck. "Louie is riding with you!" his voice wafted back into the house.
And then she was bouncing on the balls of her toes, biting her bottom lip again. "I can give you all your gift later then, at...ah, at home!" Alex began to laugh, a happy and carefree mirth that lit her face and took all the stress of the past few months right out of her mind.

Rivener watched Zul float away, noticing the ornaments hanging from his wings for the first time. An amused chuckle rose from the Sigel's throat and he tilted his head fondly. How cute. Zul seemed like such a composed person, but then he wore sparkly christmas doo-dads on his wings. He was like a puzzle Rivener simply adored trying to piece together. He was sure that once all the pieces were in place, Riv would just love the final whole even more.
The demon-frei returned shortly with a small wrapped box, placing it into Riv's palm. The Scorpion tried to play it cool, but there was a spark of excitement in his eyes that couldn't be explained away. That, and his wings just refused to play along, rustling and beating lightly. "I'm opening it," the Sigel declared before he ran fingers over the embossed paper, finding the edges and ripping gently.
It looked like a jewelry box? Rivener's heart quickened and he flipped open the top eagerly, a smile finding its way onto his face and then bursting into an all-out beam when he spotted the ring itself. It was perfect! It matched his current accessories perfectly, and... he pulled it out, slipping it over a very particular finger on his right hand... it fit exactly where it should! The Sigel's wings snapped open and beat down with such force that it sent gusts disturbing the room lightly, and Rivener threw himself around Zul's shoulders, laughing brightly and snuggling the demon's cheek with complete adoration.
"I love it! It's perfect!" He purred, hugging tighter still.
Aphismet's elated smile dimmed as he caught sight of the bandaged wrist, but he only sighed and shook his head lightly to himself, deciding not to mention anything of the shot of concern that had washed through him. Today was not the day to mention anything unpleasant, and Alex drove this point home by leaning up to kiss him one more time, managing to bring the smile back to the chef's face.
The woman turned to ask her brother for help, but Brad already seemed to be in the process of moving her out. Was he that eager to be rid of her? Aphismet laughed, figuring that it was all for the best. "Who's Louie?" he asked, figuring it was most likely a pet of some kind.
Alex's offer to give Aphismet his present "at home" made the white-haired man's chest swell up with fluttery feelings, his grin reflecting this happiness clearly. THEIR home! Alex was really moving in, right now, today! Aphi couldn't quite realize yet that he wasn't dreaming. He grabbed Alex's hands and laughed at her bouncing, moving towards the living room. "Come on, then, we should tell our Raevans so Zul can start packing!"

On one hand, Zul was ecstatic. He wanted to zip around the house and bounce into Rivener's arms, to laugh and revel in the praise openly. On the other - and it was in this one that he reacted - he felt humbled. The demon's arms slid around the Sigel's taut back and held him close in their reversed position of a usual hug, relishing the feel of being the one to support him. He tilted his head into the snuggling, his smile softening, finding words difficult under the odd light feeling in his chest. He was truly happy that he had found something that earned such a reaction from his Scorpion.
"My Rivener is perfect," he murmured in return, keeping his hold on the Sigel both supportive and firm. He wished, with all his heart, that he had the same line of body to feel that embrace with beyond a brush of ribbon. "I am glad. I like to see my Rivener so happy," he purred softly against the Scorpion's long ear. Just like that, he was certain his Christmas could not have possibly been more complete.
Alex grinned cheekily at his laughter, side-stepping a stray piece of wrapping paper that vaulted past her at the beat of Rivener's wings. "Hey, I've been packed and ready since you told me! Things just...happened, but our hearts never changed." The Italian beamed, glancing towards the kitchen door as she heard her brother come back in. Withdrawing her hands, she lifted a finger in a 'just a moment!' motion. "Louie? He's - hey, LouLouie!" Her tone changed, a soft coo that was near a purr, leaning down and stretching out her hands. "C'mon Lou, don't be shy! Aphi is nice--there you go!"
From the kitchen where Brad had put him down at the cooing, a small slow loris ventured to peek around the open arch of the kitchen. The woman bit her lip in a grin as he loped between the tile that separated him from her, immediately grabbing onto her arm and crawling up to her shoulder. Alex stood, careful to keep her face neutral at the tugging on her bandages, lifting her index finger to scratch beneath his chin. "This is Louie," she exclaimed proudly. "He's a slow loris from my trip back in August," her expression softened only briefly, "but that's a sad story not meant for a happy day."
Her gaze turned towards the Raevans, though her grin was still meant for her boyfriend. "He's packed too. Hell, he packed faster than me!" She wanted to slide across the tile and hug both of the Raevans, but she had a feeling Rivener wouldn't appreciate that. The way they were holding each other was...slightly different, something she didn't quite want to interrupt physically. Instead, Alex tried to walk like a normal human being with air shocks in her feet, giggling and continuing to pet the animal clinging to her shoulder. "Zul, Riv!" she called out, beckoning with her free hand. "Hey, do you want to move today or what? Let's go!"
The demon was apparently wrong. His Christmas just exploded into a new realm that he was having a hard time grasping. "Now?" he questioned, the word barely passing intelligently between his lips. Zul pulled back from Rivener enough to look him in the eye, then back to his woman. If they were moving now...he'd never have to be apart from Rivener again. They'd be together! They'd--!
Zul let loose a sound that was extremely inhuman and completely joyous. He pressed a brief, firm kiss to the Sigel before bolting off towards the television where he'd put his precious game from Rivener, picking up the heavy box of games without so much as a struggle. "Which truck?" he questioned, already floating towards the side door, wings spread.
"Hers," the tall man offered as he passed Alex on the way to the bedroom. "Kitchen stuff is done, just his in the living room and yours in the bedroom and garage, right?" he asked in an almost business-like air, giving her a glance as he paused at the doorway leading to her room.
The woman wasn't sure she was breathing; it was catching up to her now, and she wasn't sure what to think, or if she was thinking at all! "Yeah," she breathed. Turning to Aphismet, Alex gave him a wonder-filled smile that warmed her eyes. "If it's in a box, it's mine. Otherwise, this..." her gaze turned over the furniture and hanging pictures, "...belongs to my firm." She didn't say it, but she didn't think she had to; it wasn't her home, and never had been. What Aphismet had just given her this Christmas wasn't just a house, it was a home, and a family.

Rivener snuggled, and to hell with how that wasn't manly at all of him to do. He was just so happy! And he downright adored Zul! The demon's purring words in Riv's ear were so nice, the Sigel relaxing completely, content in this embrace. He'd stay like this FOREVER if he could! With no intention to let go anytime soon, Riv heaved a deep, satisfied sigh and rested his head against the other's. This was so comfortable.
Aphismet grinned to hear Alex had been packed since that very first day, so long ago. Then what had she been waiting for? Of course many things happened, but the woman had obviously needed her boyfriend to come get her, give the green light, or she might have felt like she was being pushy? Well, it didn't matter now: she was coming today, and that was all that Aphismet needed to know.
Answering Aphismet's question about Louie apparently necessitated Alex to look around and call for the thing in question, cementing the concept that it was a pet. A pretty cute one, in fact! As the tiny little monkey-like creature scuttled to Alex and climbed her arm, Aphismet let out a breathy "Aaww!", instantly smitten with it. How shy! Not like all the rambunctious, demanding, arrogant pets Aphismet had at home! "It's so cute!" he added, resisting the urge to scritch its chin too. He wouldn't want to scare it! "You can tell me that sad story another day, then. And you're welcome to come live at my house, Louie! Although, beware of Shalbriri..."
Aphismet followed Alex into the nearby living room, finding the two Raevans hugging. For once there was nothing overtly sexual about it, for which Aphismet was very damned grateful. He dreaded how many times he'd have to separate the two at home. And he wondered if Riv or Zul would one day hit him for it or something. ...Although Alex never seemed worried about it, Aphismet just couldn't let go of the idea that it was "wrong" and shouldn't be encouraged. They were hardly formed! They were only a few years old!
Alex had a much better way of separating them than Aphi, anyway. She declared that they should get moving if they wanted to move today, and Zul practically flew off Rivener, so happy the chef had to chuckle at the sudden energy.
Rivener had reacted much as Zul did. He turned to look at Alex with wide eyes. "Now?" he'd echoed. Zul pulled back and Rivener's gaze snapped to the other Raevan's, a slow beaming grin spreading on the Sigel's face. They were going to live together!!! Rivener beat his wings again in joy, paper and small things flying around in the wind. Zul kissed him and Rivener laughed, watching the frei zip off to gather his games. "Don't forget anything!" Rivener said, glancing around for the guitar-remotes needed for those music games. Ah, they were already in that large box, as were the systems themselves... Zul really was ready, wasn't he? Rivener grinned over at Aphismet, red eyes dancing with more happiness than the white-haired man had ever seen, and the Sigel eagerly followed Zul towards the side door. "This is the best Christmas EVER!" he squeaked, so damned excited he didn't know what to do with himself.
Once outside, Riv quickly jetted off to draw circles and loop-de-loops in the sky, laughing gleefully. He expected Zul to join him the minute the box of games was safely put away: this was the happy display of Rivener's joy! He had to explode with movement and laughter or his body would burst, or something!!!
Aphismet was left inside with Alex, although he turned to head towards the same door the Raevans had taken. He smiled at the Italian woman, easily hearing the words she hadn't spoken. "Come on then, we can't let your brother pack everything by himself: I'll fetch the boxes from the garage if he gets the ones in your room, and then we'll head home, okay?" He leaned over to kiss her cheek lightly, brushing a thumb over the area after. He also tried to give Louie a little pet, testing his boundary with the animal.
"It won't be long now!" the chef added, grinning.

"Don't worry much about Lou here," she smiled as the slow loris remained still at the chef's advancement and touch, turning his wide eyes towards her. "He'll stay in his cage for the most part." Alex was going to shrug off explaining that he was a wild animal - they had moving to be done, her enthusiasm over work would have to wait - but she was still glowing from the small kiss and touch. "I'll help - the stuff in the garage is the heavy stuff," she explained, moving to the side as her tall brother walked by with two boxes in his arms, "like my potter's wheel and work equipment."
The Italian bit her bottom lip, considering. After a moment, the excitement won out, manifesting in a wide grin that lit her eyes. "Oh what the heck. Let's go!" Alex didn't care if she wasn't exactly dressed for moving and lifting, as some things were important and dear enough to her that the proper precautions were easily over-looked. Calling 'home' with Aphismet was certainly at the top of that list. Taking her boyfriend's hand in both of hers, she lead him out of the house and towards the garage, the slow loris content to rest on her shoulder for the time being.
They emerged just as the demon put the box in the truck. He had only one other, but it was in Alex's room and would be moved with the rest of her belongings. It afforded him the time to tilt his head back and grin at the Scorpion circling in the sky, his marbled wings spreading wide before flapping, pushing himself airborne. Zul laughed, his voice a gentle smoke in the cool air, dipping and brushing close to the Sigel. He would truly be excited after his boxes were unpacked and it was a done deal, but for now, it was easy to get caught up in Rivener's excitement, the two spinning beneath the Christmas sun.
It wouldn't be long now...
An hour later...
It required both her truck and her brother's, but her life had been moved from the beach to the marsh with surprising ease. Alex jumped out of her truck and looked up at the familiar house that she had largely mixed feelings over, predominantly positive in that moment. Grinning widely, she turned to look to her brother as he walked up behind her form his own vehicle, bouncing on her heels. "Isn't it amazing?" she gushed, grabbing his arm and tugging him towards the three-story house that was now her home.
A low whistle returned his sister's enthusiastic introduction to the old house, the architect's eyes turning over the building with a sort of critical expression that saw beyond the exterior. "It's beautiful," he agreed in a somewhat gruff tone. Brad was a stickler for construction, though he had quite a weakness for buildings of old, finding them favorable over the new-age garbage. The house was right up his alley. "Is this where the help was you said you'd need--?"
"Yes yes," she grinned, yanking on him impatiently, practically digging her heels into the dirt ground though it did little to move the larger, heavier male, "there were...um, accidents, and I need your help to fix it. Don't make me call a carpenter, or worse! I'll do it myself!" Alex knew her threat would work on the man, though the reaction was almost instantaneous.
"You will not let some half-wit touch it," he almost snapped, giving his sister a baleful glance, knowing he'd been had by the way her grin took on a more devious aspect. Sighing, the man finally took a few steps towards the house, earning a small squeal of delight from Alex. "I'll take a look and see what I can do." Still gruff, still detached, but he knew his sibling knew he meant well.
And she did, nodding and giving him a grateful smile in place of her triumphant one. "Thanks, B," she squeezed his arm again, settling for tugging him by his now unrolled sleeve. "I wont take up too much of your time. I know you have somewhere else to be."
The Frei emerged with his four Christmas fish secured in their bowl within his arms, looking up at the house with slightly more misgivings than his woman. The three times he'd been to the establishment had been less than positive; he'd have to try to apologize to Isi again and avoid Eiry at all costs. Zul pushed the two aside in favor of the one that made any and everything worth it - Rivener. The demon turned to seek out the Sigel and his woman's boyfriend, floating towards their car with a wide, happy smile.

The packing hadn't taken all that long, and as much as Aphismet wanted to tell Alex to just leave the heavy things for him to move, he'd not said anything. Alex was proud, and she was stubborn: there was no way Aphi would have swayed her into letting him do all this on his own (although Rivener would surely have helped), so the chef hadn't tried to argue. He knew to pick his battles, and he didn't mind at all letting the woman have her way most of the time. Besides, when she smiled like that, how could Aphismet do anything other than smile back rather dumbly, most thoughts blasted clear out of his head?
Rivener HAD helped, once his flying had worn out most of the excitement. The Scorpion could tell Zul wasn't as hyped just yet, still holding onto a small smidge of doubt perhaps? Bah, that doubt would fade soon, and the sooner the better! The quicker they packed, the quicker they'd all be living together!
The ride home was nearly unbearable for both Delaran men. Alex was with Zul in her own truck, and Brad followed in another... Too bad they couldn't drive there together. A small sacrifice, and it made the end result no lesser, anyway! The instant the car had come to a stop, Riv bolted out the passenger side to find Zul, the demon already half-way over with his bowl of fish. Riv grinned wide and he hurried to the demon. "Come on! You can put your stuff in my room! You said you don't sleep right, so you don't need a room of your own, but you can totally share mine. Come on, come on, we'll take the short-cut!" Excited beyond measure, Riv gently tugged on Zul's arm (not wanting the fish to spill out of their bowl!) towards the back yard, where they could simply fly up to the balcony connecting Eiry and Riv's rooms.
Aphismet blinked at Brad, the man heading towards the house. "Ah? Where's he going?" Aphi asked, walking over to pick up a few of the lighter boxes from the truck. "Inspecting to make sure it's liveable for you?" He smirked playfully, although he felt half-sincere. He still felt like Brad was giving him The Look, judging him in a Are-You-Good-Enough-For-My-Sister kind of way...

The demon's smile widened into a grin as Rivener came at him, taking in all the words with an attentive gaze. The Sigel's excitement was finally starting to catch on, and Zul felt the first strains of joy; it was almost painful, the way his chest felt like it wasn't big enough to hold all that was within him. He'd never been quite so emotionally charged by anything in his existence, though he found it appropriate that this would be the first to elicit such warm and full feelings. It meant good things for he and Rivener, that maybe, even though he didn't have a stomach yet...
"Yes," was all he said, tucking the bowl within the careful crook of one arm (floating made it easier not to slosh), moving the arm Rivener was holding through the Scorpion's fingers until his own hand found them, taking hold. The Sigel could lead him anywhere - there was no place Zul would not follow him. He tried not to think of the last time he'd seen the house, though his eyes involuntarily swept towards the basement doors. Things certainly changed, and he knew they couldn't be the same hostile avoidance as they had been with the minty Sigel. Turning his attention back to the Scorpion, he allowed a fresh burst of joy to take him, smoke-filled laughter lingering in the cool, Christmas air.
Alex turned her head at Aphismet's voice, releasing her brother's shirt and instead slipping her arms around one of his. "I asked him to take a look at the um...the havoc I wreaked," the woman's voice was a little meek. "The door frame, the floor and ceiling...the wall." Her lips curved into a tight smile that she hoped conveyed that she hadn't told her brother all of what had happened or what had caused the injury to the house. "He's an architect, and it's my Christmas gift from him to fix the stuff. Right B?" She batted her eyelashes at her brother.
Brad simply gave his sibling a look that indicated he wouldn't have much say in the situation, irregardless.
She swiftly kissed Aphismet on the cheek, withdrawing the key to the house from her pocket. The smile she wore, while small, was full of repressed pride and excitement as she unlocked the front door, pushing it open for her boyfriend to pass. She lifted her free hand to touch the door frame where she'd kicked the door in, giving her brother a sidelong, sheepish glance. "Offense number one," Alex offered up with a guilty grin.
"You're a lion in a glass shop, Alessa," the older Italian remarked gruffly, bending to observe the damage done to the frame, keen eyes flicking over the splintered and warped wood. Silently, his mind was already working on how to restructure the frame without having to remove all the original wood, to preserve the antiquity of the home.
The woman stuck her tongue out at him. "Isn't it bull in a china store?"
Indigo eyes turned towards his sister's green ones. "I would assume you had a reason to do this, slightly less mindless...besides, I didn't think you'd like me calling you a bull." A flicker of a smile ghosted over his lips.
"Never stopped you before," came the returned mumble, crossing her arms and glowering at her brother.
