You have been warned about spoilers, so nobody get moody at me.
To be honest I wasn't expecting the Master to do that. I thought it was really silly actually. Come on! The Human race got transformed into a clone army of Masters?! That is so RTD! However, there was something I loved about the new dark nature of the show. Yes, it might be a bit innapropriat to show a crazy, homosidal hobo alien in a hoody who keeps on getting flashes of skeletonness and likes to eat other hobos on Cristmas Day at 6:00 PM, but I liked it. But did anyone get the sense that the Master was a bit of an anti-christ? His followers brought him back to life by sacrificing themselves (which didn't make much sense), and following instructions from the Master-bible. Anyway the Time Lords at the end were epic. They gave me goosebumps!

WHAT THE HELL!?
I mean, seriously, poor Moffat. There is NO OTHER PLOT left for him to use...
BUT WHAT THE HELL. Okay, just, as soon as they said planet wide, I thought the Master was going to mind control/put the drumming into everyones' head.
For now, I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO THINK. I just can't wait for the second part.
Also, favorite part: When the Master makes the Doctor hear the drums, and then starts screaming in joy that it's real, that he's not crazy. Other favorite part: When the Doctor comes close to crying when he tells Wilf he's done some bad things.
BUT, WOW, WHAT. I came back onto Gaia JUST SO I COULD POST ABOUT THIS. AND READ OTHER PEOPLES' THOUGHTS.
I mean, yeah, I liked the episode a lot. Not a favorite, but the second part is already shaping up to be. The only distracting thing was looking at the time and thinking, "This is David Tennant's second to last episode." And the subsequent, "ONLY HALF AN HOUR LEFT. ONLY TWENTY MINUTES... ;___; "
BUT WOW WHAT. *waits for other responses and part two*

Oh, and in response to knightofthe21stcentury!
I'm not getting an anti-christ feel. More of a feel that the Master is part of the Doctor, in the same sense that the shadow thing in The Wizard of Earth Sea was part of Ged. It's not that they're foils. More like, each represents someone the other could become.

I thought it was a great 1st part. But man Sepik is right. Moffat really dosent have any "big" guys left. RTD used the Cybermen and Daleks and The Master. Those are big guns man. But sure can't wait for New Years Day. I wonder how David is going to regenerate into Matt.

I thought world of time lords, but a world full of the Master ooh what fun! My favorite part was The Master in a straight jacket with a red leather collar, and leash.

I loved this episode, didn't think it was great, but was good. I wasn't expecting a world full of the Master, seemed silly to me, but that idea has possibilities to be a good plot. The ending was great I was not expecting so many timelords. I can't wait till part 2 comes out.(Though I'll be sad to see David leave)

I totally called that the Master was going to use himself to turn everyone on Earth into a Timelord! When they said that it put the medical template across the entire world, I flashed right back to "The Empty Child" and the nanogenes that did much the same, only slower. ...and much as their intended use was much less spific than it wound up being, so was this! I never predicted everyone being The Master!
...my questions are mostly about Donna. See...the way I figure it, she wasn't being affected because she isn't completly human, she's half time-lord. The thing is, EVERY HUMAN ON THE PLANET just became the Master, who is a Time-lord. ...so my question is...did Donna's human half turn into approximately half of the Master, making her full Time-Lord Donna? Or was Donna just utterly unaffected and is going to be back to brain-slowly-burning DoctorDonna?
Also, the comercial. "The rythem of four. The heartbeat of a timelord." Did everyone else understand that? The way I understood it is that a human heart goes thump-thump, so a Timelord, who has two hearts, has a heartbeat of thump-thump thump-thump. Did anyone hear this any differently?
gah! I can't wait for next week!
...but at the same time, next week will be so sad 'cause then it'll be all over!

My theory: The Timelords wanted to keep the Master alive (not just for the Time War) and so they used the drumming in his head as some means of a link back to the present time, whatever it may be. Similar in how the Master used his ring (and Lucy) to ensure his survival. I suppose they did this to the Master because he's more ruthless than the Doctor and clearly doesn't stop at anything to keep himself alive.
Also, HOLY CRAP TIMELORDS RETURNING DID YOU SEE THAT. burning_eyes burning_eyes JAMES BOND IS A TIMELORD WHOA THAT EXPLAINS A LOT.
RTD was BSing so much when he said that dropping the ring was just meant to be left there for whatever and didn't really mean anything. Or this is just his way of conveniently wrapping up any loose storylines whatsoever, RTD-style.
I thought the Master coming back could have been reasonable, if it weren't for the whole "Ancient Book of Saxon" stuff at the beginning. And the super-powers. At least the Gollum!Master with the needing food (because he's burning up so much energy) made a tiny bit of sense. I just got through the whole thing telling myself to ignore the "science" behind it. Especially the everyone-becomes-the-Master thing.
So what plotlines have to be wrapped up in the finale? 1. Every human is the Master (Unless you have a deus-ex-machina button) 1.5 There are still those two aliens in that basement 2. The Timelords are back SRSLY WTF 3. Donna's remembering stuff she shouldn't 4. Aren't everyone and their brother supposed to show up in the finale? 5. Ten has to regenerate. D:

So like, OMGWTFBBQ! When I saw the trailer for part 2 I literally shrieked and stared pacing the living room going, "What the...? How...? What...? OMG! What!?" Luckily, I was home alone at the time. XD
But yeah... The end was weird, and I'm very curious to see what's going to happen with that. Also, OMG Time Lords! Holy cow! I mean, I sort of predicted that, but at the same time, I was highly skeptical. But it's true! Or is it? Are they really coming back for good or is the Doctor going to have to stuff them all back into the time lock... thingy? I mean, it seems like they're up to no good, doesn't it? Ohhhh, what's gonna happen!? *still freaking out a little bit*

I just finished watching it, and I am in shock. I am literally shaking. I missed the first twenty minutes due to traffic coming home from the theaters. I had gone to see Avatar. But anyway, I am, much to her disappointment, giving up an invitation to her beach house next weekend so I can watch the second part. But actually, if i can watch it there, then it would be even more awesome. unfortunately, she isn't into doctor who.
But i am literally shaking with awe, excitement, fear, and i don't know what else. I have gone completely mad!!

Has anyone managed to see the preview clip on the official website? It'll be UK viewers only, but DAMN, that's awesome stuff coming just after the opening titles...

Hello guild! Im new.
On to the subject at hand now that that is out of the way...that episode was a serious wtf moment beginning to end. Seriously, they better explain what happend in part two...how exactly did the master return? Whats with the superpowers? Who is Joshua naismith and daughter? Who the ******** are the green people exactly? who is the freaky woman in the tv? and so on. Its gonna be hard to clean it all up. I think this may end up quite a bad ending for tennant, though his acting is still phenomenal. that scene about dying in the restraunt was superb.
