Did you know that homosexuality is only mentioned 7 times in The Bible?

There are parts of The Bible that forbid Homosexuality but not all of the times that mention it are negitive, and The Bible was often changed in rewritings. For exmple at one time all the times that p***s was mentioned it was changed to foot or feet.

Jesus says nothing about homosexuality. It is not mentioned in the Gospels once. Wouldn't He say something if He hated it so much?

What do you think?

Quoted from the other Guild you posted in.

Drak of Paradise
I am pagan, but try to understand any culture I come across. The bible was written by mortal men. First part there, mortals, meaning it is their edited translation of what they think that their god would want. Meaning, if they didn't think men should love men, in that sort of way, then no one should really, so 'let's put this in here'. 'Oh, and I don't want to be talking about sex really, so let's take out p***s' (which could explain foot fetishes).

The next part, men, makes it a sexist book. Since written by men, it does two things. One, makes anything seeming too 'girly' for the writers, a thing to edit into a more male story, two, being then they have control to set woman as second to men. For what it could have been originally, (before the 2nd draft of the bible), Eve could have been born first, before Adam. Why else, in real science, does EVERYONE, start female, until the chromosome turns from an X to a Y, changing the unborn child's gender. Many things you can look in this to see the male-female relationship in that book, the one written by mortal men.

Ok, so this is a very touchy subject. And everyone is aloud to voice their oppinions. So I well do so.

I am a believer in the Bible and God. The word "hate" is a very strong word, and it is my belief that God or Jesus never "hated" homosexuals. The Bible states that mankind is his creation and his childern. It also states that He loves his childern. But with everything, unfortunantly, there are rights and wrongs. And yes, under those wrongs is homosexuality, but that does not mean he doesn't love them anyway. The Bible states that those who believe in him and follow him will not be foresaken. I am bi-sexual, and I am no less a believer of God than those who are straight.
Think of it as something like the rights and wrongs you would teach a child. Just because they do something, or continue to do something you don't like, doesn't mean you don't love them anyway. And it doesn't always mean they don't love you either.

Amber is right, your statement is rather strong. However, I agree that it is not as major an offense, as say, murder, which is in fact mentioned in the ten commandments. I have heard many times (with the branches of Christianity that I have encountered, Protestants mostly) that as long as you believe, you will be saved. An offense like stealing or being gay won't send you straight to hell.

But anyway, I'm atheist, so I suppose that I can't be entirely objective about the situation.

good point...>,< woo ahteist unite >,< O.o or not...cause that would be creepy...my personaly beleif...is that the bible was written by men who thought there fellow man were a bunch of hethens...and to give "light" to there lives...they created god...well being that...any other way could of resulted in their death...

Well the language regarding men with men is pretty specific. In Leviticus 18:20 and 20:13. Both verses in both chapeters call such an act detestable. Though that should be taken in light with the fact that the fisrt commandment was to go out and be fruitful and populate the Earth [Genesis1:28] ... two men can't populate the Earth.
Also, the Book of Leviticus was written specifiaccly for the Levite priests of the Jewish people, not for the common people.
So there is still some abiguity

Genesis 1:27-28 (New International Version)
27 So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.
28 God blessed them and said to them,
"Be fruitful and increase in number;
fill the earth and subdue it.
Rule over the fish of the sea and
the birds of the air and
over every living creature
that moves on the ground."

I can see your point, but we've already overpopulated and eaten half the earth.

Goodness knows no one should be encouraged to do it further at this point.

Jesus Christ nor Heavenly Father hate homosexuals. They love everyone, no matter what. Christ already suffered for the sins of people becoming lesbians or gay, or in other words, having intimate feelings for those of the same sex. It's pretty embaressing to admit, but I am bi, pretty much on the verge of becoming les, and I'm LDS. ._____.

i dont think God or jesus would hate homosexuality. if youre homosexual you cant help it. why would they NOT encourage someone to be happy, and just being who they really are?

But it doesn't say that if you don't increase in number that it's a sin, does it?

Again, the bible was written by men. It also says that when a woman is on her period, she should be locked up. But no one follows that rule, do they? The only reason that a lot of Christians are afraid of gays is because they're not normal, and they can't really say that they don't like them because they're different so they hide behind the bible.

I have not seen anything in my bible about a woman being locked up when she is on her period. I have however, read about the time of a woman's period being unclean. I have read that it is unclean to have sex with a woman on her period. Nothing about having her locked up though.

And the reason there is a lot of people that are afraid of gays is because they don't understand, and its NOT just Christians in that group of people either. It's hard to define "normal" as it is a stereotype, and many people may not fit any one definition.

Did I say I was hiding behind it? I belive in the free will we were given. To worship and follow under our own will, not because we were programed to worship via instict.

xp Where are people getting these mixed up ideas about what is said in the Bible?
