"We have had many heroes since we begin. Many of us do not know many of them, and only a few know them all. Sometimes we have wondered why something was built a way it was or why someone came up with something, and normally it is a simple reason, a simple path. Others are more complete and we can only guess why it was made that way. Heroes though have a huge effect on those things and sadly some of them have been taken out of history do to many reasons. I have found an hero who has done a lot for our world, all the worlds, but his time has gone, and his name has been banned. To speak his name is death. To write his name is murder. To name your child after him... that is an attack on the gods. When I found this I only got the information I have given you. That his name is a curse. I wondered why. What did he do? Was he truly a hero is he bring this much pain even in his death. I found this book when I was fifteen. Now I am three thousand years old. This is a long time to look for information, yet I have found little. My son has helped him along with so many other people. I wouldn't have gotten this far without them. Over seventy life times we have used and still we are almost no closer to the day we started. However we do have some information. He was a man, a man from far away. A child born one of a kind. He was the best, even when he wasn't. He could do things to even up a battle even when he was out numbered, out powered, out quickened. He was called a god. We also know who has banned, cursed, and turned him into an outcast. The Gods. We do not know why but they have." And old man said. He stood for the whole time, but everyone in the room could tell he was in a lot of pain doing so. There was seven others behind him. One being his son. The others were six of the about seventy who had helped the old man look for the information. In front of them was a female. She was beautiful, but wasn't what she looked like.
"And what do you want of me old man?" She asked.
"I am afraid that I may have translated it wrong, but if I have not, then he may come back again. A rare birth. I am not sure if he is a hero, or a killer of gods." The old man explained.
"But I thought you said he was a hero who saved many worlds." The woman asked.
"So says the writings I have found. However I am not sure fully if it speaks of him, nor how far back it speaks of. He may have gone mad with power. He may come back to seek revenge on the gods, or maybe he is a hero and the gods can not control him so they'll destroy planets to end him. I do not know."
"I am still not seeing me part here."
"I would like you to take my son to the plans you come from."
"No!"
"Hear me out first."
"No! He would die and I would die trying to protect him. I may have powers to turn men into jelly, but when you have meat like that even the trained dogs become harder to control."
"I do understand that, but we believe we have something that can mask his smell."
"What? Ha! Even if you did it wouldn't last long."
"Three minutes." The son said. "That should be more then enough time to get into the temple of.."
"What!? No! No even if you gave me all your lives. I am not getting within three days or any temple." The girl said.
"I have a seal that should prevent them from attacking you right away. It should give us enough time to go in and talk to them." The son explained.
"Should? Should! I am not risking my life on a should!" The woman said.
"You have no choice." The farther said.
"I have what?" She said angry.
"If you do not do this then... I am sorry to say... you'll die." The farther said.
"You threaten me old man!" The woman barked.
"No. Warn you. We have found one last piece of information. We have found that if we open a book, with information in a language we can not understand, then twenty four hours afterward any who step within six hundred feet of the book are marked and will be killed, no matter what." The old man told her.
"And let me guess you'd open up the book if I don't do what you ask." The girl said.
"No. We have already opened up the book." The old man explained.
"To make sure I do this?" The woman asked.
"No. Because we did not know. We called you once we found out. If we are right the gods are the ones that are coming for us. They can not got to your plains."
"Then what stops me from just staying there forever?"
"Death. You can not live forever. We all know this. You must have out souls, our lives to live. You have to come back and when you do the gods strike."
"And what if I do take your son?"
"Then hopefully he'll get the book translated."
"And if he doesn't?"
"Then I am sorry."
The girl grinned her teeth. "What temple!"
"Zamora." The son said.
"All your lives, even the Sons. I'll take it after this... whatever has been removed."
"No." The farther said. "He must have a child first. Then you can."
"Fine!" She rushed over and grabbed then sons arm and pulled him toward the door. "Do you have everything?"
"Yes I have to mask my smell, but I'll do that right before we leave. You also have to put this on." He said pulling a necklace out of his pocket.
"How long does it last?"
"If I am right, it all matters on the person. Which means that it would work forever but should only work on me for five minutes."
"Fine." She put it on and then looked at the others. "Close your eyes, and cover your ears kid."
He did so.
"All of you..." He voice became smooth now. "Open your eyes and become one with me..." They did and almost right away their bodies become dust and traveled to her mouth. Once she was done she grabbed the kid. He uncovered his ears and opened his eyes.
"Do it!" She ordered him. He covered himself and then they were gone.

Once they entered the plains Vince turned around, trying to locate the temple as fast as possible. He wasn't far. Vince couldn't believe how close it was. He had read stories of the fear demons were given at birth about this places. To get close to one of these places must have taken everything the female demon had. He grabbed her hand. He could feel the fact that he had to pull her at first. He made his way to the temple. He could already hear the demons all around that smell him even thought the stuff he put on himself only moments ago. It only took a few steps before six men came rushing out of the temple. They held weapons. Vince didn't think they would. He believed their magic was all powerful and that using anything but it would be their own deaths. He could feel the girl start to pull away and spoke up fast.
"I am Vincent William Quin. I am a Vin-Kin. I have come here for information. I can not go back to my world, for I fear that the gods may kill me. I have a book. It may have information about a man that my father believed to be a hero, but fears that he'll be killed. Please help me!"
"What about this demon you bring with you!" One of the men asked.
"She isn't here to hurt you. I needed her help to get here. I own her my life, which she'll get when I have figured out what I need to."
"We can not let her in." The same man said.
"I can not leave her out here. She'll be killed." Vince said.
"This is not our problem." The man said.
The girls blue eyes turned red. "It is when they get here. Do you think they'll just let the taste of outside blood not drive them insane? They want more blood. They'll come for you. This temple is doom if he dies and he wont enter without me." She told them.
The man grinned his teeth. "Fine come in. Quick!"
Vince ran in with the girl behind him. Two of the six men, one being the man that had talked to Vince, went into the building too. Once inside they noticed another ten men in this room.
"Stay here!" The man ordered. "If you leave this room they maybe able to get to you. This is the best room in the temple."
It was beautiful. There was art everywhere. Drawings of gods and heroes. Vince could tell that the girl wasn't happy with being in here, nor was she happy with the look of this place. Before he could stay anything to her, he heard gun fire and creams of pain. Vince could tell she liked the sounds of demons screaming even less then she liked this place. After about twenty minutes it stopped. They never made it past the four outside.
Soon they walked in. Unhurt.
The guy they had talked to turned toward Vince. "You are safe now. The demon can go."
"Sir, what if she tells others?" Another man said.
"That is a problem." The first man said. "I guess then her life must be taken."
"No." Vince said. "I need her, alive."
"Did you not say she was going to take your life? We would be saving you." The man explained.
"That maybe but I offered her my life. It was a contract. She kept up her end of the deal. I must keep up mine." Vince explained.
"You do not have to." The man said. "She is a demon. They are nothing."
The girl was mad but Vince defended her.
"Maybe to you, but to me she maybe a key to saving everything." It wasn't much but it worked.
"Fine. She must stay by you all the time and you'll be followed by two of my men."
"Thank you. Now for why I am here." Vince grabbed a book out of his bag, that was strapped over his one shoulder.
"No." The man said. "The book of elves."
"No?" Vince asked.
"This book... it's cursed." The man explained.
"Yes. I know. I am cursed and so is she."
"So are all of us now."
"By the gods?"
"Yes."
"They can not get us from here."
"They can't but if we are cursed we lose all the blessings from the gods."
"What do you mean?"
"The magic we use. It is a blessing from the gods. Now it is useless."
"How? You just used it."
"That is before... you have already opened it?"
"Yes."
"How can this be then? We should be powerless."
"I do not know. Maybe we are not cursed then. Maybe it was a lie."
"No. The elves were cursed."
"Why?"
The man looked at Vince. "You came here for him..."
"Him?"
"We can not say his name. Even if the gods can not get use here we can not say his name. To say it would bring the wrath of The Core."
"The Core?"
"Yes. They are a group of warriors. They have no minds of their own. It is said they are vessels for the gods."
"The Warriors of the Gods."
"Yes. However these ones aren't people who became warriors. They were made as warriors."
Vince thought about stuff his father had. "They were made to kill him."
"Yes. They failed many times."
"I guess not every time."
"I am not sure. Stories say he never did die. Other say they killed him. Even some say he was killed by the gods themselves. There is no information about any of it. His past is even destroyed. As you may have noticed the only information about him is warnings and stories about others."
"I have noticed it."
"Even that book you hold is a story about his race, not time. That however is the beginning. I was once told that if you can find a mans beginning you can find his end."
"How so?"
"If you know where the man was you can find out where he was going."
"I see. So you'll help me?"
"I can not, but others can and I'll ask them to help you but they do not have to. You do understand right?"
"Yes."
"Good. I'll show you to your room. Stay there, or the Library. Everywhere else is off limits. When the bell rings it is time to eat. Eat or don't but you can only get food when the bell rings."
He then showed them their room.

"So. My name is Vince."
"I know. You told them when we got here."
"I know, but I called myself Vincent. I do not like being called that, however my father always said that if you are talking to people or more important then you, or if you ever need to try and get the respect of someone, using your full name is the best way."
"If you say so."
"So what is your name."
"Demon."
"Demon? No it isn't... is it?"
"As for as you need to know it is."
"I am not sure you are aware of this, but we are going to be together for sometime."
"That is what you think. First humanoid female you can force to take your child is going to."
"My child wouldn't be a full Vin-Kin then."
"So?"
"I know it doesn't mean much to you, but in over a million years there hasn't been a single Half Vin-Kin. If I did that I would dishonor my people."
"But I thought everyone was equal, including us demons."
"We are, but my people need to stay true. We almost died off almost a million years ago. From then on we said we'd never cut down a brother, we'd never set war on those that didn't call for it, and that we'd never thin out our blood."
The demon female looked at Vince. "Then maybe you are better then the rest of us."
"Why do you say that?"
"My kind, we kill whoever we need to kill to live."
"I know. You feed off the souls of others to live longer. It is your way."
"Yes, but unlike you, we'd kill our own mothers to live longer."
Vince almost didn't know what to say to that. "You could change."
"We are evil. We like that."
"I see."
There was silents for a bit. Finally The demon talked. "You can call me Violet."
"Violet. It's a beautiful name."
"It's a trap."
"Oh?"
"It's meant to get the men and women happy. Thinking of the color, or past memories. Anything that welcomes me in. It's not all the time seven men willing give me their lives."
"I guess not."
There is more silents for a bit until a bell rings.
"I am guessing it is time to eat." Vince said.
"Oh yeah." Violet said, not sounding happy at all.
"What is the matter?"
"I hate this place, these people, and human food. The smell of it drives me insane. Besides why do they have art of gods everywhere? Look at this!" She said turning a chair. The was a carving of a gods sign on it. "Like it's everywhere. Do they think their god is going to help them when they sit? When they sleep? When they do everything? If I have learned anything in my ten thousand years it's that your gods only come when they want to kill you."
"It is true. The gods aren't that caring, and haven't been in a long time, but each race has their own reason for that. Mine believe that they want use to leave to save ourselves and only punish when they feel it is a matter of grave importance."
"Saving four trillion people wasn't important?"
Vince knew she meant when a planet called Comoros was destroyed. "Some say that the gods wanted others to learn from that."
"See this is what I mean. They can do no wrong. They let four trillion people die and did nothing. One man may come back from the dead, and maybe help us, and they curse anyone within six hundred feet from a book to try and prevent him from being found."
"My brother thought that it was because if he is reborn we'll get too depended on him and never learn."
Violet began to grind her teeth together.
"I do not know what to believe. I am hopping this book may give us something to go by, something to understand. Maybe our gods at all, but evil war lords."
Violet looked at him weird.
"Anything could be true Violet. My father said that once. Anything could be true, it's our job to find out what that truth is."
"Your father may have been the smartest person alive."
"I doubt it, but he was smart."
"Then... we should go get you food Vince."
"Get us food."
"Ha-ha. I eat human souls remember."
Vince looked at her weird. "You mean that is really all you eat?"
"Yes. However it doesn't have to be human."
"Things I have learned. Maybe before you eat me you'll let me write a book about you."
"Maybe, we'll see how long I let you live."
"Ha-ha. I hope it is longer then I first thought you were going to let me live for."
"Maybe it'll be shorter. Remember your on the clock. Every moment you live I live less."
Vince nodded and they headed to the kitchen.

"So Vincent." John said. "I have asked my people if they'll help you. At first a lot of them refused but a few came around."
"That is wonderful." Vince said.
"It is. Thankfully one of those men is Brother Paul. He isn't a guard. He lives here to study this books and to help us with problems like this. He believes that the Elven book shouldn't take more then a few days to fully translate if they can figure out what Elven race this one is."
"You mean there is more then one race of elves?"
"Yes, Brother Paul is one Elven race, however he maybe the last of his own kind. When he heard you had an Elven book he jumped on board right away."
"I am glad."
"So am I. Brother Paul is old. He has been after a book like yours for a very long time." Lord John took a drink from his cup. It was a type of red wine, very full with flavor but with very little alcoholic effects. "The others are more there to help Brother Paul. Tomorrow Brother Paul wants to get started right after breakfast. So be ready for a long day."
"I am willing to help Brother Paul any way I can."
"That is good, but you'll have to ask him what he'll need help with."
"Understood."
"Then, I must leave. Tomorrow I'll bring Brother Paul over."
Vince nodded. John got up from the table, with his glass in hand and headed toward the door. Vince didn't know where he was going, but knew it was none of his business. He finished his food and then looked at Violet.
"I guess then we'll be heading back to the room?" Vince asked.
"I guess." Violet answered.
"Is something the matter?"
"This place, the events, the people. Pick one."
"I see. This must be very hard for you, being in the temple of gods who have damned your kind."
"I guess that is one way of putting it."
"What do you mean?"
"The Gods made everything. Including us. Your people say that, their people say that. So why are we the outcasts?"
"I am not sure. I heard once that the gods made demons by mistake."
"Even so, it wasn't our fault."
"I guess not."
"You guess? You guess! How was it ever our fault? How could that ever be our fault?"
"I think it is the way you act that has them wanting you destroyed."
"The way we act? You mean in the way that keeps us alive and not dead because of some Hero killing us in the name of the gods?"
"I didn't mean it that way. It's just you kill people."
"And you kill animals."
"It's not the same."
"Isn't it? You breathe. They breathe. They eat. You eat. They die. You die. They live. You live. Name me something they do that you don't?"
"We talk. We think in a larger scale. We have cities."
They talk, you just don't understand them. They think, it's just about survival. They have areas they call him. Isn't that what a city is?"
Vince thought about it. "I can see your point."
"Then why am I different from you?"
"I guess your not."
"Then shouldn't we all be punish or none at all."
"You are right."
Violet got up. "Come on. You need your sleep."
Vince got up and said nothing the whole walk there. Neither did Violet.
Once they got into their room they got ready for bed. There was two beds in the room. Violet went to the one farther away from the door.
"Violet. I am sorry. I never understood what problems your people had gone through. Maybe this guy, this hero, maybe he'll make everything better."
"If he is like the other heroes, then I am in for a world of pain. It doesn't matter though. Go to sleep."
And that was all that was said that night.

"Vincent, this is Brother Paul." John said. Next to him was a old man. His hair grayed from age. It was short, only about a inch long. It showed off his pointed ears. He stood straight and his stance was that of what Vince could only believe was Monk like. He looked at Vince and Violet.
"Lord John has told me that you are wanting to help me translate this book. Do you have any skills in this field?" Brother Paul asked. His voice was smooth and light, but loud enough to be understood clearly.
"I do. I have translated Wenona to Vin-Kin, but nothing on this level." Vince explained.
"I see. Maybe this can help you learn more about translating and even more about the Elven people." Brother Paul said. He then looked at Violet. "You are a soul eater, am I right?"
"What is it to you?" Violet asked.
"Watch your tongue Demon!" John said.
"Lord John, it is okay. She did not over step her bounds in my eyes. She has every right to ask." He then looked back at Violet. "The reason I ask this is because I would like to better understand who you are. It is my way. I like to know things. It helps me better understand everything."
Violet looked at Vince and then back at Paul. "You could say that I would be a type of soul eater."
"Yes. I forget not everyone feels the same way I do about the titles I give. When I speak about soul eaters I mean people that eat souls to live. Not those that eat souls for power."
"Then I would be."
"Succubus correct?"
Violet was shocked that this man used that word. She had never been called that. Her Mother spoke of a time when everyone called them that. It was over fifty thousand years ago.
"I am sorry." Brother Paul said. "I did not mean to bother you."
"No. More shocked." Violet said.
"That I have information lost to time?"
"That is one way to put it."
"My Father, like his Father, like myself, studied books and stories and made our own book. It is out Guide to Manhood." Paul looked at John, then Vince. "We should probably start getting to work. If you'd like to help I would take it, even your help... I never got your name." He said looking at Violet.
"Her name is Violet." Vince said.
"A beautiful name to fool those who may become dinner." Brother Paul said.
"You may know more about my people then I do." Violet said.
"Seeing how your kind does not stay with their parents for more then a few years then I would not be shocked about knowing more about the history of your people. However the core of what your people do, I believe you'll find I lack in that area. It probably is do to the fact that whoever kinds out more about how your people live normally become part of the cycle of life."
"Probably the nicest way you could say ripping the soul out of fathers and sons." John said.
Before Violet or Vince could defend her Brother Paul spoke. "Most do not go after only Males. Males are just normally the easiest target. Females normally think before they act. Males however think with their lower member, which leads them down roads that bring high pleasure, however this road also has large risks."
"You could make a murder of children sound good." John said.
"Maybe if the child murder killed as part of living longer, like the Witches of Svengali." Brother Paul said.
"I think this is enough for me." John Said. "I'll leave you three to whatever you need to do."
"Thank you Lord John." Brother Paul said. John then left and Paul looked at the other two. "Then I guess we should go to. Come with me."
