All Recruits that are eligible to receive a Wolf will be listed below (usually updated every weekend). A Recruit can be added and/or taken off this list at anytime, so check back if you're not sure if your Recruit is (still) eligible.
The ability of wolves to mentally bond with humans was discovered around the time of the second Fort establishment, Emma White and Shadow being the first pair to be bonded. Before this, older humans were partnered with young wolves based on physical compatibility. But upon discovering that wolves could bond with young humans and create a greater stability between the pair, the Academy was erected.
Built in AL 27, the Academy acted as a place to find potential Wolfriders as well as a training grounds to instruct Recruits on the skills necessary in battle. Allowing pregnant wolves to give birth in the caves behind the Academy also provided the young pups with another level of protection, and for the Recruits an opportunity to meet wolves from both packs. Once bonded, the Recruit-turned-Apprentice would then be transferred to the Fort where his adolescent wolf's pack resided.
