Marissa sneezed violently as she careened down the empty stairwell. Cole clutched his mother's black pullover for dear life, eyes wide and stricken. Marissa was returning from the fourth floor, where renovations and intensive cleanup hadn't quite begun. Dust an inch thick covered most of the antique surfaces, and Marissa was insanely allergic. She trolloped down the stairs, noisy as hell throughout the echoy gallery, and jumped the last step, eyes watering, into the kitchen.

Marissa sneezed and final time and yelled, "Hi Enid!! It's Marissa and Cole! Jamie's sleepi-"
She suddenly realized that Jamie probably wasn't asleep anymore and grinned sheepishly, vowing to be quieter.
She pulled herself together and looked round a corner, spotting Enid. She smiled. "Hiii there, you. And 'ello, Lu! What brings you two around?" she asked, an astonishingly stupid question. Cole was silent as she studied the two figures, knowing he recognized them, but...

Giggling quietly Enid waved with her free hand. "Good afternoon." She said quietly, after hearing Jamie was sleeping 'was' being the operative word in that phrase. "I'm just hear to say hello, maybe let Luel meet people more" Enid shuffled her baby boy around so he was semi led on her chest, his legs straddling either side of her in a hugging position. "How are you both?" She asked as she pushed some hair out of Luels face, tucking it behind his ear. Luel glanced down from the ceiling to the two stood at the base of the stairs. Instinctively he shivered, nuzzling into Enid but soon after he was peeking out, the curiosity brewing up inside him becoming too intense to ignore.

"I'm doing pretty great, thanks." she grinned. "Cole's been jittery all morn', though, like a little wind-up toy." She poked her tounge out at him.
As if on cue, Cole began to squirm in his mother's grasp. He cried out in annoyance, reaching downward, eager to meet the "news" for himself. Marissa smiled and walked into the living room, a more appropriate place to play. She sat and lifted her boy down, letting him rest on the carpet. He screamed happily, shuffling toward the visitors.

Close contact was Cole's middle name. He scooched on his diaper right up to Luel, so that their feet touched, smiling and studying him deeply. Hazel met crystal blue as the two made eye contact. The boy reached his hands up to touch the blue moon on Luel's forehead, oblivious to his or his mother's pending reaction.
Marissa pensively glanced to Enid, a bit worried about her son's outgoingness.

Cole, seemingly oblivious to his effect on the other infant, boldly stroked the azure moon. He frowned and burbled at it, intent on discovering it's secrets. Only the tiny sniffle from below averted his gaze. He was quite surprised to find Luel so rigid and upset-looking, and covered his mouth with his hands, plopping back onto his diaper to study his subject.
As if suddenly coming upon a brilliant solution, Cole grinned and toppled forward, wrapping his stubby arms around Luel as far as they would reach. He gobbed Lu's arm mercilessly and giggled.

Cole was a bit surprised ot find that the little Lu's form had tightened. Hugs had never gotten that reaction before. Before he could back away or squeeze tighter he had a small silver hand tugging on his locks. He did his best not to be startled, but before he couls send the "keep steady" impulse to his brain, his wings shivered, and their newly molting selves shot feathers in all directions.
Cole's face immediately crunched. That sensation was his least by far, he hated the feeling of so many things falling from his person at once. He straightened, tears aleady falling, and turned his face away, becoming rigid in hopes of halting the fluffy waterfall.

And so they sat, sobbing, in the middle of the floor. Cole found himself horrible embarressed by his actions, and did his best to close the floodgates. But as he realized every movement could trigger more falling feathers, he became scared, and stopped moving altogether. He managed to open a bleary eye to take a look at Lu, wondering what in the world to do.
