I walked around the little farm house that my family own, doing the little chores I am able to do. Finishing up the little I am able to do, I walked outside into the cool spring air, taking in the scents of the farm I've lived on for so many years. I sighed and walked out to the pastures where I heard my ma working with the horses. Walking up and resting my hand on the wooden fence."Ma, I finished mt chores." I yelled to her, I could tell she was somewhere in the middle or farside of the pasture. I heard footsteps approach from the opposite side of the fence. "Honey, you know you don't have to do anything on your bad days." The voice i knew all to well said. "You know it makes me feel like i can't do anything. Plus, just because my senses aren't that sharp today does not mean it's a bad day. Okay, maybe it does, but you know what i mean, ma." I said as she climbed over the fence. She may seem old from just listening to her, but she still likes to believe she's young. I laugh every time i hear here say that."Yes, I do know what you mean. Now go have some fun, but no moping about your four senses acting up. Just be grateful you still have them."She said, sher voice getting more and more faint. She was walking away. I smiled. "I won't ma!" And with that I was off. I walked off towards the corn, pa had made a maze when planting it so I could have fun, and master getting to the forest on the other side without getting lost along the way. In a way it also hightened my senses, too. Though I am blind, I think it a blessing, not a curse, because I am able to know things by what they are, not by what they look like.I walked quickly through the maze i knew all too well and soon arrived at the other side, the entrance to my favorite place. The forest. I smiled again as I came across the sound of rushing water. I was near the mini waterfall that I had discovered some years after my ma and pa adopted me. I'm not going to go into my past, because at times it is certainly hard to talk -or think- about it, and now was on of those times. I sat down at the base of a tree that was a few meters from the water. i listened to the sounds, calming myself.

Nicolee didn't live around here, in the country. No, she lived in a much better place than these dumps. London was her home, but she'd gotten tired of the horrible side comments and thoughts that had been directed her way.
Now, why would she be hurt by these? Because, she isn't normal. For that matter, you could say that she wasn't human. If you wanted to be judgemental. But, that is besides the point at this moment.
Nicolee passed by many a tree, continuingly staring down at her feet. She might've snuck away from her 'families' countryside villa. She might be wandering around, looking for some rather normal people to hang out with.
After walking for, well, not very long, Nicolee found a nice little farm. When I say nice, I mean... not exactly good. She walked along a fenceline, looking out over the fields. The sun was high in the sky, so it was the middle of the day. No cloud could be seen in the saphire blue sky.
It was days like this, she wished someone could see something from her point of view. Could point out, that it really wasn't perfect. Without clouds, there is no shade. It's these ideas, and thoughts, that land her in more trouble.
Nicolee leaned against the wooden fence, and sighed. She almost wished her life was this simple, this time around. But, when she became older, if it was more simple, there would be no happening. No screams of death, no begging to live.

I listened to the small waterfall, the mist surrounding me. With my hair covering my eyes, i stood up and carefully walked closer, my hands brushing against the trees and bushes. After standing in that position for a while, my legs began to tire from not moving. My feet found their way to the semi-cleared pathway that led further into the forest. Smells of animals filled my nose as i walked.

After a few hours, i decided to head back to the farm. Ma would be expecting me home soon, though she knew I stayed outside for house at a time. Being inside made me feel trapped, and suffocated because It felt like i was losing air. Well, on off days, anyway. All the other days are perfectly fine. My hands then came across the familiar feel of the still growing cornstalks that opened up into the maze. I routed my way through it and emerged from the corn maze, hearing the animals and the faint sound of ma's voice in the kitchen, some ways away. I could smell something out of place, it seemed not to be an animal, nor a person. I shook off the feeling as I ran back to the house, lifting my skirts up just past my ankles. "Ma, I'm back!" I yelled as i walked in.

"Okay, Akio." She said as i walked up the stairs to my room. We have a fairly sized house, two stories, three bedroom two bath.Though the third bedroom I just used as a room i went to to just be alone, because my room has a bunch of windows, and it's like I'm never alone. Which is a good thing, most of the time. I walked over to the closest window that i could feel sun coming in from, and opened it, letting the early afternoon sun/air in, or so i presume it's early afternoon. I left early this morning, so it should be around then.

I woke up to the sound of birds singing outside of my window. I sat up in my bed, pushing my blanket off of me in the process. I stretched for a moment, then tentatively put my feet on the cold floor. Just as I did so, mother came into my room. She walked over to me. "Good, Akio your up. Your father and I are going to the market to buy some things with the extra money from the last harvest. Would you like to accompany us?" I simply nodded my head, keeping quiet. Our mid-summer harvest went extremely well, and we were able to have quite a profit from it. Mother sat down next to me and started to brush my hair, as she did every morning.

After I had gotten myself dressed in a white dress that went to about mid-shin, I walked downstairs to meet up with mother and father. I had eaten breakfast shortly after mother had brushed my hair, trying to get me too pull my bangs back, revealing my horribly discolored green eyes.

Upon our arrival to the market, I let mother and father go off on their own, after an argument that went something like this: "But dear," my mother had started. I cut her off. "No, mother. I agreed to come so that you wouldn't have to worry about me. And do not bother to think of me, I will be around you whether you know it or not." And after that she finally gave in, letting me walk alone.

With the vibrations through the ground I could tell that the market wasn't crowded, but it wasn't deserted either. That pleased me. These people worked hard to get where they are and deserved to at least have some profit. But' alas not much profit could be gained from normal marketing so once good hearted people began to steal from others, to fulfill their own dreams and take away thos of the others. It made me quite sad, really.

Cassandra rode her way into the marketplace, via carriage. She stared out the window, her head leaning against the glass. She looked out at the scenery rolling by, mesmerized by the different colors blend in so nicely. She looked down at her lap and scratched at her dress. 'Why did Arianne make me wear this dress?' she asked her mentally, referring to the purple dress, that was a bit on the ruffly side.

"Everything alright, miss?" Cassandra heard Arianne, her personal "servant", 'Hmph, more like slave driver.' she looked over at the other occupant of the small, but elaborately decorated carriage, nodding. "I am perfectly fine." She said through clenched teeth, with a forced smile. Arianne rolled her eyes, and turned looking out the window. "We're here." she announced as the carriage pulled to a stop. Cassandra's face broke into a large smile as she stood up and opened, the driver was there waiting for her outside the door, ready to help her down the steps. She lifted up her skirts as she stepped onto the cobbled ground, her shoes made a certain sound as they made contact with the floor.

"The carriage will be back in two hours, be sure to be here by then, okay?" Arianne said just before the door shut, and the carriage left her there.

"Yes, yes, I know." Cassandra waved until the carriage was out of sight. She turned on her heels, lifted her skirts so she could walk and made her way down the road. 'I hate this damn dress, so complicated.' She glared at the folds of it in her hands, as she made her way deeper into the marketplace.

I walked through the market for a few minutes, marveling at the many exotic scents, before noticing a slightly different sound reverberating through the ground, there was a different person here, one with a different style shoes than the vendors here, and myself, as I wore a simple thin pair of flats so that I could still feel the vibrations the helped me 'see'. There was also a rumbling like vibration. Whoever this stranger was arrived in a carriage.

I turned my entire body around, because the ribbons that were on my dress made it so that I was unable to turn certain ways, and discreetly re-traced my steps, going closer to the sounds. A normal person would go on with their life, but not me. I was always the curious one, hence the cause of my seeing impairment as some like to call it. They seem to have this delusional idea that it's nicer to say that instead of 'blind'. They have no idea how wrong they were.

My bangs covering my eyes, I kept walking, but was distracted by something. There were sounds coming from one f the vendors stands, bells I think they were. Carefully I went over to the stand and picked one up, completely guessing that there was one where I reached. Lifeting it up I noticed that it was one of those church bells, just smaller. I remember seeing one when I was little, and it was so beautiful. I knew this one had similar details from the fell of the engravings, and was made of crystal.

Just then the bell was snatched out of my hands. The shop keeper yelled at me, saying she didn't need a blind girl coming and ruining all of her business. She-or at least I thought it was a she, if it was he he had a very feminine voice- said this quietly, hoping nobody would hear. I just nodded. The people in this little town knew exactly who I was, and wanted nothing to do with me. They say that I am a curse, that I myself had been cursed too, when they never bothered to ask why I was blind. They all just assumed these things. And there is one thing I learned. never assume things, otherwise you'll make an a** out of you and me. I turned away from the stand, my head down.{assume =a**+u+me smile }

She had been wandering around aimlessly, never having been anywhere besides the grounds of the small mansion her family owned a few miles away, she marveled at the sight, dropping her skirts she walked farther in, ignoring the looks people were giving her dress. 'The one my mother gave me.' Cassandra thought nostalgically, before shaking her head, in an an attempt to shake the thought away. 'Can't think about that now, I have a marketplace to explore, and what is wrong with these shoes? Oh, how I wish I could take them off.' she moaned inwardly.

Cassandra pulled a strand of hair that was in her eyes behind her ears, the light making her eyes to appear a pretty shade of blue, contrasting nicely with her purple dress, not that she cared anyway. She turned around to see a girl, most likely her own age, handle a delicate looking bell. It was a pretty bell, she'd give it that. She saw a young man snatching the bell from her hands, she was too far to hear what he had said, but she only caught the words, 'blind' and 'girl' that wasn't all of it she knew, but it was enough to know that he didn't care for her in the slightest.

She trotted up to the two, a bit angrily, she snatched the bell from him, replacing it with money, more than the amount needed that was for sure. Stopping suddenly, she realized she had just bought a bell. 'Why did I just buy this bell?' Cassandra stared at the thing. 'I just bought a bell, for no reason.'

Just as I was about to walk away, the one whom had arrived in a carriage had come over here angrily -or i thought so by they way the vibrations were, she( I could tell by that it was a she by the ruffling of skirts, a dress) seemed quite angry- and took the bell from the vendor, replacing it with what I believed to be money. I turned towards her and spoke. "excuse me I do not mean to be rude, miss, but why do you seem angry?" I completely ignored the part about the bell, my curiosity getting the better of me. I bowed my head.

I didn't understand the notions of people, other than the hate that I received from the towns people. Being secluded from most of society had that effect on me. I had always been the odd ball out since I had caused that tragic accident so many years ago. The years of solitude after did me no good either, and these people adopting me did help, but not by much. Nobody could help me regain what I had lost, and I have no revenge issues, so I was content for the moment, even with the constant taunting from people.

The dark blue ribbon in my hair that watched the ones on my dress as my mother told me billowed in the slight breeze that had stirred up. It felt as if the two parts of one strand were dancing in the wind. I almost smiled, but then remembered that I was technically talking to somebody.

Cassandra sighed, looking up from the elaborately decorated bell, 'It is a pretty bell.' she studied the other girl, 'She probably doesn't talk much to civilized people.' she glared at the younger boy before sighing heavily, she noted the girl's soft voice. "I'm not angry," She told her calmly. "slightly put off, but that is all." She finished off, bowing her head lightly, "I apologize." she had forced that last bit out.

She looked back to the item in her hand. "Here." She said as she placed the bell in the other girl's palm. 'It's not like I need it anyway.'

"There is no need for an apology to me, miss. I am s-sorry if I caused you any trouble." I could tell she wasn't willingly apologizing. There had been a hint of force in the girl's voice. As the bell was placed in my palm, I carefully closed my hand around it as much as I could. "T-thank you." I said, stuttering because nobody except for mother and father had ever given me something, even technically.I lifted my head the slightest, my long hair falling over my shoulders.

"No need to thank me." She said after a moment's hesitation, breathing steadily to calm herself. Cassandra scratched at her dress, wishing she could just strip it off and kick off her shoes. She looked to the younger boy who's back was to her, 'Rude, but his clothes look quite comfortable, if only he knew how lucky he was.' she studied him closely, almost jealously or bitterly. Looking down she noticed the bottom of her dress had dirt on it. She sighed, "My head is going to roll tonight." she said quietly, massaging her temples. "Well, its not my fault I wore this dress in this first place." she said, even softer than the last statement, thinking of what she could do or say to get out of a punishment from Arianne. 'I'm sure she could clean this dress, right?'

She looked back to the other girl, "You be careful with that, and don't take any impertinence from these people," she told her quietly so that no one but her would be able to hear it. "Not to be rude, but I don't think its healthy." She looked at the girl's green eyes, noticing she was almost 2 inches taller then herself. 'Hmph, almost everyone is taller than I am.' She thought a tad bit bitterly, shaking the thought away she had been talking to someone, without even thinking about introducing herself. "I am Cassandra Xanthus Sherlock Ludlow Irving." She said in one breath, as she made a curtsy, even though she knew the other couldn't see her. 'The name is too long, why did mother tell me to say the whole, whensoever (I tend to say that for no reason) I introduce myself. Most likely because it sounds 'ladylike', I don't know.'

I looked up at Cassandra. "I don't try to, miss, It's just that everyone in this town is not fond of me, so it is very rare to see me here anyway." I said, trying not to sound rude and explaining. "And there's no need to apologize for being rude to me if it's the truth. As some say, the truth hurts." I spoke the truth. Being blind heightened my senses and so I could hear things without being seen, walk without being heard, and most thankfully not trip or fall on anything at all.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, miss Cassandra. I am Akio Maurette." I curtsied, showing my respect as I had always been told to do with those whom I just meet. My hand still held a firm grip on the bell, I couldn't want to drop it, now would I? ' I wonder why Miss Cassandra is here... ' My thoughts began to wander as I stood there. I needed to laugh or smile soon, other wise I might just lose my personalty. 'Well this is an almost awkward situation...' My thoughts wandered again. Though this truly was becoming an awkward situation. I moved away from the stand a bit. "Would you like to walk while we talk? That is, if you wish to talk some more." I asked, my head turned towards her.

Cassandra stared back at the girl, it was almost as if she had never kept up a long conversation with people other than the ones she lives with, or so she guessed from the way the other girl spoke and carried herself. She blew the same strand of hair she had pulled behind her ear, out of her eye. 'This blasted thing won't rest until I've fallen off a cliff or something of the sort.' She complained at it mentally, for if she hadn't the other people in the nearby vicinity might have thought her mad. Cassandra nodded once as Akio curtsied, she didn't know why she did, but it had become a sort of habit for her to accept a curtsy or bow nod, almost never wanting to curtsy if she had already done it once to the same person and taken up nodding.

"I would enjoy your company, Miss Akio." Cassandra bowed her head low, lifting her skirts a bit with one hand, the dress was a tad too long for her likings. 'At least now I have an excuse for Arianne.' She thought as she noticed this while fingering the gold necklace she usually kept within the inside of her shirt. She sighed as she remembered just how she came to be in possession of it, it had been a Friday, 'Stormy if I recall correctly, and my father was tucking me into bed, just before he left my room he placed a small box beside me, and kissed my forehead. That was the last I ever saw of him, and it had been my birthday.' She felt the velvet string that held the golden pendant, scales, her astrological sign was, of course, Libra.

She came out of her memory suddenly, she had forgotten where she was, mentally slapping herself, she lifted her skirts once again, and walked as fast as she could whilst still being as graceful as she had been brought up to be. "I apologize for spacing out like I did." She said as she caught up to Akio walking beside her at the same pace.

I stopped for a short moment, as Cassandra hadn't followed yet. She seemed to be deep in thought from the feel in the air, a sad one at that. I brushed the skirt of my dress with my hand idly, a habit that had formed when I was younger. I always worried about how I looked, no matter the situation because I never actually knew for myself if I did or not. But it was a though that I had grown out of, only the action was still left. Forgotten memory. a remnant of the past.

As we walked I tried to start the conversation. "So, Miss Cassandra, what is it that brings you here?" I asked the question that had been nagging me the entire time. Someone who wore shoes like that wasn't here often. 'Oh, there I go with the shoes again. As long as I don't start calling her 'strange shoes girl' I should be fine...for the time being...' My thoughts roamed to various locations, thinking over thoroughly what exactly was happening in mu current situation. My blind eyes flitted about, to someone looking at me it looked as if my eyes were moving on muscle memory, although actually I was consciously moving them, as if I could actually see.

I still remembered the colors from back then, the blues, the blacks, and most of all the reds. Oh h9ow much I had loved the color red. It had been the world to my little secluded self, red dresses, red lipped dolls, I liked anything red I could get my little clean hands on. my mother had always told me to keep clean, until one day she was gone, and it had been all my fault. Though I don't like to dwell on the past, thoughts about it came up every now and again.
