"There!" she said, standing back and admiring the final banner up on the building. It advertised her simple tea shop. Simple being that there was hardly anything at all special about it save for that it was in the center of town sandwiched between far more popular coffee shops. Oh well, Amelia thought, this was just what she wanted for years and years, scraping and saving working for the seamstress down the lane.
" It's absolutely perfect!" she giggled and was hard pressed to keep herself from bouncing up and down. She was well over that age of giddy girl. Which got her thinking, why not contact her family and ask them over for a bit?
Due to some random fluke of an event ( or the fact that on this day her godmother always did the shopping for the household), a wisened old woman came up and addressed Amelia. "Hello, child. "
The urbanized, fair elf whirled around and stared at the woman, then giggled and wrapped her arms around the old woman. "Katie-Lynn! It's good to see you. I finally managed to fix up this old place! I'll be in business shortly! I'm so excited!"
Wisened Katie-Lynn smiled softly and patted the ever excited Amelia on the head. " I can see that child. Now I have a gift for you. "
" A gift? You shouldn't have, Really!"
Katie-Lynn chuckled and dug through the wicker shopping bag, pulling out a carefully wrapped...something, holding it out to the excited elven girl. Amelia blinked and happily took the gift, quickly unwrapped it and stared at one of the most beautiful tea pots she ever had seen. "Katie-Lynn! Its beautiful!" She also felt a rather close connection to it. In fact, she felt whole ...which was a rather interesting feeling.
The old woman gasped and started laughing almost jovially, " Congratulations! " Amelia just gave her this extremely confused look. And gave a squeak of surprise when this rather small, yet, adorable little spotted whale not a foot long swam through the air around the old woman, chirping and squeaking quite happily. It then floated over and seemed to be grinning widely at Amelia. " Your business opened and you finally have your Kulgenki. I'll leave you two to acquaint yourselves.... And here I thought that was just a simple heirloom you could use. " With that said, Katie-Lynn wandered back away and to her own home... yay plot hole!
" Oh my.... " Amelia said, glancing back at her new Tea Pot. Then she giggled and hopped inside, the narwhal in tow. Odd how she knew the name already. " Well, lets get inside and stash this away. Wouldn't want something to happen to the pot, Dre'lagsh. "
The floating whale squeaked and chattered, " You already know my name? Huh....fancy..." It was slightly confused about that minor detail, but then again the girl had some time to think about what her Kulgenki would be like and what it would be called. The Narwhal was actually rather proud of that. Such a smart one he had.
" It's really a guess... "
" Call me Dree! " the whale did a loop in the air and pounded its fluke to get after the girl. " Dree, Dree, Dree! "
" Dree, huh? But Dre'lagsh is much more sophisticated and powerful..and..."
Amelia found herself forehead to forehead with the whale. " Don't you onotice? I'm missing something." He seemed to be grinning ear to ear. Amelia couldn't say anything other then shaking her head. The whale sighed. "I'm a Narwhal...or something like that. I have this huuuge tusk.."
" ooh....your a baby still. " Amelia concluded.
" Yep!" Dree squeealed and did another loop-to-loop.
" ... Oh kay...." And Amelia found herself wondering what he'd be like when fully grown... And why she was suddenly finding herself with a narwhal on her head or shoulder when she worked that day... Sigh.
