The small foal exclaimed excitedly as he pounced on a rather unappetizing berry nestled in between the blades of crisp grass. Before his companion could say a word, the tan Adahy had snapped it up into his mouth, but it was merely seconds before his ears flicked backwards against his skull, and he spat out the berry as quickly as he had put it into his mouth. "Yech!" He exclaimed, sticking his tongue out and wrinkling his nose slightly before flicking the disgusting mushy berry away from him.

He was about to comment on it, but the bushes next to him rustled, startling him, and he jumped to the side as his short feathers bristled up.

A small blue head suddenly poked itself out of the bushes, and Citlali blinked his pale eyes. "It was probably bad," he said, flicking an ear several times in an attempt to get an annoying leaf away from it. "I heard an adult telling someone else not to eat the ones on the ground, 'cause they're usually bad. That's why they're on the ground," the other young Adahy explained as he fully emerged from the bushes, though not without some trouble from its thin branches. Turning, he stuck his head back in the bush before snapping off one of the branches and pulling it out, dropping the berry-covered limb on the grass. "These should be better." He had also heard that berries from the bushes or trees would, or should, be good. The ones that were on the ground were rotten, whatever that meant. Saying they were bad was good enough for him for the time being.

"Oohh," Shikoba chimed curiously as he studied the berries. They certainly looked a whole lot better than the one he'd found on the ground, for sure, but did they taste better? ...probably, but only one way to find out! With that thought in mind, the foal leaned down and grasped several berries -- and part of the small branch itself -- in his mouth and attempted to separate the two. He flicked his ears back as he shook the branch slightly, wondering why it just wasn't working. Frowning now, he spread his legs out a bit to ground himself before giving the branch a vigorous shake, but still his berries didn't detach themselves from the small limb.

With a slight sigh, the other young foal stretched his neck out a bit and grabbed onto the small branch before suddenly wrenching it away from Shikoba, who had decided to pull in the opposite direction at exactly the wrong moment, and therefore had fallen on his rump with a loud 'eep!' But, the tan Adahy now had his berries -- and part of the branch -- and he quickly devoured the entirety of his prize, twigs and all. His blue companion merely blinked before dropping the remainder of the branch, stepping on it, and carefully pulling off several berries one at a time. Hopefully they would find more; he'd overheard others talking about saving for winter -- he didn't know what it meant, but he figured it was something they should be concerned about.
