It was another overcast day in Ikebukuro, not much different from any others. However, the paradise that most cats enjoyed was not so much for one. Under a tree in the park, a lonely Oriental sat, tail around her to help keep her warm in the winter weather. Kiri looked up to the grey sky she loved so much, but found no happiness in it. The cold was annoying, and the fact that she wasn't with her person just depressed her even more.
With as sad mew, she fluffed up even more. Was anyone going to notice her? Where was she going to sleep tonight? Alone in the cold? Kiri had nowhere to go, even after various attempts to try to get back into her home.

Impulse awoke underneath a bench, lifting his big body up in a stretch that arched his back. His ears flicked back, the earrings jingling against each other. He stood and dusted off his jeans, the cool of the dusting of snow chilling him to the bone. He wore loose jeans and a star-buckled belt, rainbow gloves and a rainbow hat and a thick hoodie with pockets in the front. His silver hair -- streaked with rainbow dyes -- was floppy and loose, the ponytail tugged down and his hair cascaded down his back in straight layers.
Lifting blue eyes, the seal-gray pointed Ragdoll shook his muscles loose and stuffed his hands in his hoodie pockets, dancing along to the beat of his own drum, shoes scuffing the pavement. He looked up and saw a mottled gray and brown female, collar still tight around her neck, and he smiled. "Hello there." His voice was soft, musical, young. "You look cold."

Kiri looked up as the male approached her, shivering slightly from the sudden cold breeze. Observing the colors he was dressed in, she found herself wondering who had made such lovely things. Could it have been her owner? Or...Former owner. Kiri looked down in sadness, missing the woman dearly. But when he spoke to her, she looked up again.
"Yeah...." She quietly replied. "I can't get home....The day would be far more enjoyable if I wasn't out here." She murmured, laughing slightly at her own situation. "Curiosity got this kitty stuck out in the cold."

He smiled at her, crouching down next to her. Curiosity had gotten him in trouble plenty of times. And he expected it would continue, living with Marshall and Belle... Tugging off his hoodie, he offered it to the younger girl, his long sleeves enough to keep him warm. "Here..." He offered her a grin. "Care to explain why you're so far from home?" Everyone around here had stories to tell: his was a simple death of his owner, but for her, it might've been something else.

Kiri smiled sheepishly as she took the hoodie to keep warm. "Well......It's not as interesting as some others might be..." She laughed quietly. "But...One day my owner, she was a designer, left a window open for some fresh air and went out. I had always been curious about the outside, and well...I went out! After I was done exploring, I went back, and couldn't get back in. The window was closed." She looked down, frowning. "I should've known better."
She leaned back, sighing. "So now I'm here with nowhere to go. I don't even know what to do now."

Impulse giggled, covering his mouth with his hand and settling into a crouching position. The wind blew against him, fluffing his silver hair. "So in this case, curiosity really did kill the cat..." He smiled forlornly, understanding her problems. "Didya try sitting outside her door and yowling? I've heard it works... Either they let you in, or they chuck a shoe atcha." Another giggle. "Well if you're certain your Woman isn't going to letcha back in...you could hang with me for awhile?" He perked up, smiling. "I mean, I'd have to ask my...erm...friend." Boyfriend. He blushed. "But I'm sure it'd be okay! At least til you can find another family, right?"

"Yeah. With no food or shelter, I'm a goner." She admitted with a little laugh. It really was her fault, anyway. "I've tried. But...I don't think she's even in town right now. The mail is starting to pile up outside, and all the lights are out." She mused. "Must be another fashion show." Of course, her ears perked up at his offer. "Seriously? You'd do that for me? A little stray?" She seemed surprised.

He grinned. "Isn't that what we -all- are? Strays?" He giggled. "The only difference between us, is that I wear no collar and you wear one. That's the only difference..." Well, other than the fact that this girl was probably straight... That was a little bit of a difference. He held out his hand. "I'm Impulse. My Woman died. I got tossed in a shelter, made my escape, and got sweet freedom. Of course...Ikebokuro's rather big and I get lost alot, but I found Belle and Marshall -- you'll love them, Marshie's an artist! and between you and me, Belle could use a friend."
He paused. "Want to come with me? I've got a few more Christmas gifts to pick up." He wiggled his eyebrows at her. "And maybe we could find a place to eat?"

Kiri blinked. "You mean you are too?" She then noticed his collarless state, and sighed. "Sorry..I didn't notice..." She murmured. "How long have you been out here?" She asked, curious. Life had to be hard for them him too, right? Then hearing his name, she realized she hadn't given her own. "I'm Kiri." She smiled sheepishly. "It's nice to meet you, Impulse." After hearing about his friends, she smiled even more. "I can't wait to meet them!" She chirped, more happy than she had been.
Still beaming in the dreary day, she nodded. "Sure! Shopping sounds like fu--..." She paused at the mention of food. "Food? I haven't eaten in so long!" Kiri nearly spazzed, so happy.

Impulse nodded. "Of course. Been for a little while, anyway. Almost...hmm...I'd say a few months. I pulled a fast one: my friend and I were put in the shelter and when a woman adopted me, I...kinda scratched her to get away. Poor woman." He grinned. "I feel almost bad about it. Ah well. Freedom's nice...you'll see."
He padded ahead, wrapping his arms around himself. "That works." At her enthusiasm, he giggled again. "Let's get you some food then...wait. What do you like?" He knew his diet of raw and organic veggies and fruits and health-food stuff wasn't always delectable by the other cats.

A...few months? Kiri watched him as he spoke, confused. How could he have survived, and still be happy? To each their own, she supposed. "So there is a way...to stay alive in this concrete world." She murmured, thinking it over. If she could survive, then why not enjoy her own freedom as well? As much as she loved humans, there had to be a way to make things on her own terms.
Kiri fallowed, smiling at his musical laughter. "I like fish." She replied, "Though at this stage, I'm not going to be picky. Anything that's food will do."

Truth be told, Impulse was -happy- being a freecollar. He loved being alive to the point where he had a dance in his step. And things were even looking up... Marshall might even become his boyfriend! "Of course there is," he spoke with a smile. "I mean...it's different than being fed out of a can and having someone pet you every night, but it's good. There's such an exhilaration in losing your collar and just being, you know...your own person?"
Fish. They could visit the market! "I know where we could find some nice fish," he said, taking her hand with a little giggle and traipsing off towards the middle of town.

"So...To join the freecollars, I have to...." She looked down at her own collar, touching it. "Loose my own?" Kiri was curious as to what these freecollars did, and if it really was better not being around humans as much. "My own...person.." She repeated, mesmerised. Who was she, exactly? She...didn't know. "That would be...amazing to learn myself." She smiled shyly, looking up at Impulse. "I...I think I'll mull it over."
"Really?" She smiled, brightening up. "That's great!" She fallowed him, walking beside him. "So where do you live..? With your friends?"
