A Little History...
-Some Centuries Ago-
Some time ago, a small civilization blessed the a small area of land and produced a floating fortress in which to live, travel and rule upon. Using their collective power, they enabled the land to fly above the war ridden lands and construct a peaceful civilization above the grounds of Ria. After a century or so, the people of the small country became tired of living amongst the clouds away from the rest of the world. Civil war slowly irrupted among the lands and soon the once flourishing community crumbled and fell apart, and the floating island descended from the heavens and landed to the planet, it's existence being forgotten.
-Twenty Years Ago-
A powerful sorceress, Altima, came across the ruins of the former people. After inspecting the area around the ruins, she opened an orphanage among the ruins, taking in those with no home but much promise with their abilities. While caring for the children and learning of the different pieces of the ruins, she stumbled across a large crystal. Channeling her own power into the crystal, she reawakened the dormant abilities of the island and the land slowly ascended into the sky once again. Once learning how to control the island, Altima traveled Ria taking in those with no home and offered sanctuary to those found as the small community drifted over the planet.
-6 Months Ago-
After a large storm that the island flew into, Altima suddenly disappeared from the community with no word. With their mother gone, the orphans worked together to learn the secrets of the flying land and planned their course of action from there. Soon enough, they drifted over The Gates of Ria and many of the orphan's found security and comfort within the school. Though many of the island's inhabitants attend the school, the island still drifts around the area with a few of the older orphans controlling and living upon it.
Know Your Surroundings!
The whole island is about six square miles large (three miles long and two miles wide). To the North and Northeast of the island stands large grass lands, mostly consisting of a few trees and meadows covered in fields of multiple colored flowers forming a beautiful landscape for the area. There is one tree, said to be greater and large than many of the others that gives off a very peaceful energy to the area who's fruit hold a hidden power of some sort. To the East sits a large lake of crystal clear water that is said to have a healing effect on those who lay within the calming waters. To the South sits a small mouth of miniature mountains the come around to the rim of the Western side enclosing the ruins of the former city inside the large pieces of earth's protection. Most of the West and the center is filled with large stone ruins of former buildings and temples which flourished when the island was originally created. A large newer building with modern technologies and multiple places to stay lays hidden among the ruins, hidden from outsiders who try to claim the island. In the dead center of the island sits a large crystal (the size of a small ca) that glows a faint blue color that resonates it's powerful energies through the whole island enabling it to fly. The crystal is protected by an unusual barrier so outsiders of the island can't come near it.
