So, I've been wondering if any other band nerds had pets. My family are all big animal lovers, so we have pretty much a zoo. Lets see: 3 dogs, 8 cats, 30+tortoises, a snake, three birds(two cockateils and a dove) 1 mouse and a sugar glider. What do you have?
Now, the reason I posted this here: I've been wondering how these pets react to you practicing your instrument.
I have this one particular kitten, a very pretty tortoiseshell who just happens to be evil, who i have realized hates music. I'm not kidding. Yeah, not many cats really stick aoround to lsiten to you play your instrument, because many don't like the noise, but this is the only cat I have seen actually attack an instrument. I play a note on my clarinet, there she is, and she starts batting at i and snapping at it, to the point where I have to (attempt) to pick her up and lock her out of my room. And then I couldn't sleep one night, and this kitten lives in my room at night, and I was humming. She attacked my mouth! I stopped and she walked off to lay at my feet. Started humming again, she attacked me again. I will start listening to my stereo. There she is, jumping on top of the stereo and attempting to attack it(usually failing miserably and sliding off) Out of all eight of ur cats, she is the only one wo doesn't like music of any kind. Our other three kittens(no relation to her) run off when I practice(they don't mind the lower registers, but the high notes scare them off in an instant) and our four adult cats just kind of shrug it off and ignore it, with the occasioanl flee from high notes.
Wow, that was longer then I meant it to be. So, anyone else have pets who don't like music? Or ones that absolutely love it?

I have a cat, a guinea and a dog. I used to have three dogs and than the year of dog deaths happened (literally) two of the dogs got ran over and died and another died from a disease, so we got a new dog. BUt when I had the other dogs when I played a high note or squeaked she would howl with it. And than the rest didn't notice. My cat like sniffs my clarinet wondering how the noise comes out and the guinea pig does absolutely nothing, because she is very lazy.

I have a toy chihuahua. He starts howling every time I play. It's kind of annoying, but also cute.

I just have to practice when my cat is outside. (Although, he ran away 4 months ago) He doesn't mind trombone AT ALL. He hates trumpet with a passion though.

4 dogs, 4 cats, 2 turtles, currently one fish, 5 ducks, about 10 chickens.
Dogs~ 1 Saint Bernard, which if your a stranger to him he rips your arm off. Not joking, he chased the UPS guy down our driveway -.-"~ 1 mut, were not sure what she is but I found her : P she was a abused puppy :[ ~ 2 Pomawahahs (Pomeriaian Chiuauah.) There bro and sis and you can't split them apart.
Cats~ My cat is Black and White. Hes like the cat you see everyday. You think he was are only cat because you see him so much. My brothers cat is gray colored with white on his chest. Dad's cat is old kitty graish-whitish cat. Then our timid black cat who hides, shes my mom's cat but I mess around with her too.
Turtles~ Mikoangolo and Donatello. Yes ninja turtles. They're my brother's' turtles. He had to get them when he was homeschooled for Kindergarden. So he named them after his fav show.
Duckys~ We have one named Aflac, I named him :3. Hes the only male out of the 5. There runner ducks so we don't have to worry about them flying off.
Chickens~ K we did have 11 but one of them got killed by who knows what. We have 1 chicken from our last pack we had last yr. The rest of them were killed. Her name is Falcon because It was dark I couldn't see in the coop so i thought she was some hawk or something. Shes the oldest, the rest we just got this yr.
Fish~ Its my mom's fish hes supposed to be at her work, but she brought him home because no one is gunna be taking care of him over break at her work.
My Saint Bernard has a HUGE fit when either my bro plays his sax or Im playing my clarinet. Its pretty funny though xD we have to lock him in the bathroom so he doesn't try to attack us.

I only had one cat left when I started band, and she pretty much hid all day until dinner time. Including when I practiced, so I wouldn't know if she cared about me practicing my trumpet or not.
My dog, however, runs away with her haunches raised whenever I practice when she's around. If I wanted to, I could probably herd her around the house with it.

Haha, so I'm not the only oneXD Now for some more descriptions on all my pets(*gulp*) The only ones of these that are not rescues are Chips, Alex, Pepper, and Suki. oh, and our tortoises, which i do not mention here because, well, they just sit and do nothing.
Cats:
Blackie- Our oldest cat. White(yes, a white cat named blackie. Don't ask...)He lives outside, so he has nno issue with my instrument, though he stares at me when he is inside and I'm practicing.
Skittles-The oldest female. Gray and white tabby. she is completely evil(though she might have been beaten by devil kitten. I'd like to see a batlle between these two) She rarely enters my room anyway, and doesn't seem to have too much of a problem with me practicing.
Oreo-Skittle's oldest son, middle kitten(they had a sister that was an exact copy of Skittles, but we gave her away=() He is pretty good with me practicing, though he can't sleep while I am. He used to own my room, until I got the devil, so I would lock him in there and occasioanlly practice with him, so he got used to it
Chita-Skittle's runt kitten. He is oddly fluffy, which is weird because his mom, siblings and suspected father are all shorthairs. White with brownish-gray tabby back. He only likes my mom and avoids everyone else, so he is never around to find out if he minds or not.
(Kitten time!) Buster- Gray tabby with a white chin and lighter underbelly. He is pretty much adorable, especially when he gets into his cuddle moods, where if you don't pet him, he bites you. He only seems to ignore my practicing in these moods. otherwise, he runs off in most likely surprise.
Lily-Buster's sister, and the only female out of five kittens. They are not Skittles'! We got her fixed(both skitles and LilyXD Lily is the only fixed kitten) Actually, her and her four brothers we rescued when they were still on milk. Their mommy was hit by a car and killed. She is just a bit darker then Buster. it is kind of hard to tell them apart, so when I can't tell i just call them the tabby twinsXD (Two sets of twins in the litterXD) Doesn't seem to mind music too much
Lucky- The runt of our five-kitten litter. All black except for a small spot on his chest. He is one of the other twins. He is the smellest, and twin of the strongest(who almost died when my dad stepped on him, buuut...the strongest was pur black with no white) He is named Lucky because my mom drove them home with him in her arms, trying to keep him alive. He barely made it home, and then my mom gave him some of her miracle homopathy cures and he was all better. Now he is a bit crazy(and I think he is in love with the devil. He is getting to that age0.0 Please no! though their kittens would be adorableXD) He runs from everything, so, no likey the music.
Willow(AKA Devil Kittne)-Yup, I told you about her. She is prime example of why you should never rough-house with a tiny kitten. they turn evil! As I said before, she bats at my instrument, crawls on my lap to try and dislodge it from my hands, and bites it if I let her. I realized last night that she is triggered by any form of light. i was laying in bed with the lights off and the tv on last night, and she was literlly, and I mean literally, bouncing off the walls of my room. Turned the tv off, she came and curled up next to me, purring, and fell asleep. Opened the door to the hallway, she freaked out again(the light was on in the hall bathroom)
Dogs(all of our dogs are mutts):
Star-The oldest of our dogs. Husky mix, with who knows what. She is natrally skinny, and has the signature husky curled tail, but is short furred, and smaller then a huksy. She is a big dog, but the smaller of the large breeds(I suspect corgi, but nobody believes me). She is a spaz. She hates fireworks, escapes the yard when it is thundering(and fireworks, but yeah) and so naturally I would guess she wouldn't like me practicing. The dogs live outside, so they aren't too affected.
Mr. Chips(or chip/chips for short)-Border collie and unknown mix. short furred and white with black speckles. He is overactive, if there is no better word for it. he runs around the yard barking laoudly and annoying the neighbors. He lived in our house as a puppy, until he got too excentric and big for the house and we moved him outside. He loves light, which sets off his running games. I tried practicing a few times with him in the house. He sat at my bedroom door, barking and scratching. Never knew whether he liked it or not
Katrina-Hm, what to say about this one. She is a wolf mix, and she definately looks the part. A very pretty gray and cream color. She is very rough and excentric. Maybe we should have done obedience classes with her like chip. At least he doesn't bit you or jump on you(I suggested, but the parental units refused) She lived in the house a while too, and seemed to not mind my practicing.
Pepper the mouse: Its a mouse, a very pretty mouse(if there was a such thing as a toroiseshell mouse, that would be her). Brown with darker speckles and a white belly. She gets a bit active when i practice, but otherwise doesn't really care.
Suki the sugar Glider: This creature has had so many name changes I don't think it really pays much attention to what I call it. Nocturnal cage dweller. For those not educated on sugar gliders, they are a type of flying squirrel(illegal as pets in some state, but legal in mineXD) Mine feeds on apples, carrots, peas and mealworms(er, yum) Like I said, it is nocturnal, so it rarely comes out during the day. when I practice, Hi Suki! Not sure if it likes or dislikes music. I just know it has grown to hate cats. Poor thing is tormented by curious kittens who like the weird cackling noises it makes when they hit the cage near it(i would never let them hurt it. If they start getting too close to it, I kick them out of my room)
Alexander the Great(Alex) the king snake: Lives outside. I don't think anything really bothers him.
Bird the, well, bird: I just thought i would menton this bird. He whistles. Right now he can wolf whistle, do some other tune my dad taught him, and has recently learned the noise our car makes when you lock itXD So he doesn't mind music at all, because he makes it
Everyone else doesn't care. Oh, and if you were wondering, my mom's homopathic miracle cures are from her work, a local wildlife rehab center. She is training to be a vet tech with the vet there, but ever since she first started there she has had to know these homopathic(herbal remedies that influenc natural healing, as opposed to the kind of so called cures you get from the doctor, which help you heal, these ones help your body heal itself, f that makes sense. Tey work better then other cures, and I have seen them bring animals from the brink of death multiple times in only minutes) cures since she started at this place, and is one of only two people who actually get paid to come and work with the animals. everyone else is volunteers.

I have a dog, and two sisters.
I don't exactly know what my dog actually thinks, but when I play, she comes in or just does leave. It makes me happy.
I suddenly am considering my sisters animals. They both say I play too much.. Which I really do.

She eats anything put in front of her(especially unhealthy stuff) and hates it when I practice. She turns on her annoying stereo full blast with music I hate with a passion, and so I can barely hear myself play.

I have two cats. One is named Freeta (girl) and the other is Mikey (boy). Freeta lives at my house so she usually hears me play. She doesn't mind the flute but she HATES the trumpet. Mikey just sits through about anything and tried to lick my flute once. He's a very strange cat...

well i only have two cats. Angle which is about 17 years old and noodle which is about 5 months old. noodle is such a goober though, a bomb could land down the street and he wouldnt care or even pay notice to it. so my instrument practice doesn't bother him unless i play the really really high notes on my flute. now my other cat she runs away at my flute no matter what. she only doesnt like my guitar if i use the amp and then again my mom dosnt like it then either. both of them are ok with the piano. it used to put noodle to sleep. they only dont like the piano when i set them on it.

I have 2 dogs and about 40 chickens. We keep the radio in the barn on 24/7.
I did an experiment last summer though. Apparently our chickens like Aretha Franklin. The dogs are to excited to care lol.
