ok. that sounds great. So the true meaning of Christmas.
we all know that over time the meaning of Christmas has shifted and now people think mainly about materialistic things.
so what do you think that the true meaning of Christmas is?

Christmas, I think, was meant to be a time where we'd think more about the Savior and try harder to follow his example. It's funny that people think it's only time to celebrate his birthday, when really, it doesn't make sense that shepherds would be out, feeding their sheep if the snows of winter were out. Hey, doesn't it say in D&C when his birthday actually is?

I'm not sure, I don't think it says an exact date, but it was in the spring not the winter and that's all I know about when the Savior's birthday was.
I think you are right about it's time to think more about the savior, I think that Christmas is a time where we should be more charitable and have that example to lead us through the rest of the year, not only just around Christmas time.

Oh, wait, I got it. I had to read it again and think it through better. In D&C 20:1, it means basically that the Church was being established on April 6th, and when it says that it was "one thousand eight hundred and thirty years since the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the flesh", it was only to establish the year of the establishing of the Church. Simple as that. So the odds are that no one, or very few mortals know if our Savior was actually born on April 6th, but in the meantime, there's no problem with recognizing his birthday on Christmas, as per tradition. Glad that one got cleared up.

I'm looking for ways to be more charitable. Though I'll admit, I haven't exactly been all that successful...

It's ok. At least you are looking for ways. Some people sit there and are like i'll do it next year, or tomorrow. So if you keep looking for ways to be chartiable you will find a way.
