Serah planed to leave sometime today. She couldn't impose on Tisiphone for too long.. perhaps tonight. She was on the rooftop of the apartment building where Charonite and Theresa resided, with one of the largest sunglasses known to visit stores, hiding her outrageously black and blue bruises towards her eyes. God, it hurt to blink. It was quite uncomfortable to have two black eyes. Serah hated seeing the world through this dim lens, even though it wasn't half as dim as some sunglasses were. She was dressed in simple clothes, a tanktop and a skirt. Even if it revealed all her injuries, it hurt too much to actually put something on with sleeves. Therefore, Serah picked out the simplest things to wear that wouldn't hurt so much.
Her hands were neatly bandaged as she hugged her knees. It was likely she wouldnt get back to 'work' for awhile. Nor was she going back to school since they would no doubt inform her mother of her absences. Serah didn't care if her mother saw these injuries but she did mind the entire school seeing them. She would be bugged about them from teachers left and right, forward and back. Ugh.
It was quite frustrating because at times like these, questions plagued Serah. Questions that were extremely out of character for her, which was quite frustrating. What was she fighting for? Why was she fighting? Questions she didn't know who to ask. Theresa-- with her anmesia-- certainly wasn't someone to ask. And Serah knew nobody else (at least, nobody else to contact) to talk to. She groaned, sitting back against the rooftop, staring up at the blue skies.
So damned frustrated.

Serandite was not the only frustrated woman on Hillworth territory.
Dinner had been abnormally and obnoxiously quiet. She'd even caved in and gotten greasy food this time, to try to cheer up spirits! But nothing, always ******** nothing. So much for a Merry ******** Christmas, this year, it seemed. Nova's death on top of the Barren Pines issues, then the fact Charonite was still suffering from his injuries and distant as ever... just, <******** it all.
Purple boots landed atop of the rooftop of the school, the area having become a familiar thinking ground for her over the past few weeks. She paused, however, and eyebrows rose as she stared at something that normally was not sitting atop the roof - a girl?
Eyes narrowed as the smaller form became more recognizable as she drew forward... Serandite? A beaten up Serandite?
"Shouldn't you be in like... bed, or something?"
The voice was dull, lifeless, if not a bit aggravated. Nealite was in no mood for company (at least, company that did not possess purple dreadlocks, and that company seemed to have no interest in her at the moment) so having another being around while she was trying to mull over her thoughts was highly unwelcomed.

Someone was close. Who else would come onto the roof? Perhaps, Tisiphone? No, what met her was the sight of bright orange hair. Someone whom recognized her.. and Serandite only had one person in her acquaintance that had such brightly colored hair.
Nealite.
"Well, shouldn't you be at work or something?" She returned the comment in a mirrored manner, their feelings were mutual as they eyed each other in a frustrated manner. "I'm not getting off. If you're hanging up here, deal with it." She pushed her sunglasses up the bridge of her nose, self conscious of her injuries. (Although the parsley process Charonite had made helped, it still smelled horrible. Thank god she didn't apply it before she met Nealite.) She vaguely remember the General King's conversation with Tisiphone.. Hm. Nealite was sleeping in his apartment or something. A topic she could come to several conclusions about but Serah wasn't about to pry into information that was of no use to her.
"Seems like this is a common place to just think, huh." It was less of a question, more of a statement.

"Common place? Kid, you don't go to Hillworth. What the <********> are you doing here? Common place, my a**."
Nealite knew that if Serandite was here, it had something to do with Charonite. While Nealite refused to consider herself a petty and jealous woman (she was a very petty and jealous woman), the idea of Serandite coming here for his aid didn't bother her (it really didn't). Hematite, Obsidian, Scheelite, herself, all of them had to visit Nurse Charonite at some point, so it went without question, especially considering her shaded eyes, why she was there. The fact she remained there, however, perched up on Nealite's spot, was another thing entirely.
"I work here, you know." She scoffed, "In fact, I live here. I have every excuse to be here. You, on the other hand, do not. So explain, before I end up kicking you off of the roof."
The threat was idle, Nealite surprisingly moving to sit down beside the girl, who looked as though she'd just gotten out (and lost) from one helluva catfight. Her arms fell back to support herself as she too began to stare at the sky. "And what the hell happened to you, anyways? Fight break out in the candy store or something?"

Serandite wasn't in the best of moods to put up with Nealite and her questioning at the moment. All that unnecessary swearing-- quite vulgar. How so horribly.. un-elegant. Of course, Nealite didn't go to Crystal Academy. Figures. No wonder she had such atrocious manners that went along with that horrifyingly bright hair color. (Not that Serandite should be talking.)
"Well, I'm living with Tisiphone for a little while. Does that excuse live up to your standards?" She said sarcastically in return. Thank god that Nealite didn't mean to carry out that threat since Serandite was in no condition to be falling off this roof due to a misplaced step, thanks. She seemed surprised by Nealite's question, tipping her head curiously.
"The General-King didn't tell you? Gosh, I wish it was a fight at the candy store. Falling on a bucket of gummy worms wouldn't have been nearly as humiliating or painful." Serandite didn't have anything to hide. After all, at the negaverse meeting, the General-King would probably make it clear that Serandite lost. He wasnt't the one for discreetness or tact after all. "I came across Kunzite. She-- He was gracious enough to leave some lasting effects of our pleasant meeting." Serandite said simply and bitterly, her mouth set in a grim line. All of a sudden, a thought hit her. As flawed as Nealite seemed, she might have the answers Serandite was looking for. If Serandite worked up the nerve to ask the halloween themed woman anyways. She soon would. Probably.

"Living with Tisiphone, huh?"
She sat back, mulling over the notion. "You realize the Negaverse isn't one giant slumber party, right?"
For a brief moment, Nealite was rather glad she pushed the idea of moving in with Gunn Killingworth. Tisiphone would have been her roommate otherwise, and if that thought hadn't been bad enough, the idea of having other little twits like Serandite coming to hang around constantly was.
The hairs on the back of her neck prickled at her comment of 'the General-King didn't tell you'? Charonite, as a whole, kept her informed. Well, to an extent. She still had so many questions about things, especially when it came to this new Kunzite character who'd appeared out of nowhere, but Charonite had stayed surprisingly quiet over it all.
Which was frustrating, to say the least.
She was smirking at the mental image of Serandite getting her a** kicked over gumdrops and licorice sticks when that name, of all names, arose in the conversation.
Eyes narrowed, but Nealite said nothing at first, merely listening to the girl more or less explain that it was the Cavalier Captain that had physically beaten her. And she was still alive?
"And he let you go?"
There was no way Serandite could have won. There was no way Serandite could have escaped, judging by the moves Nealite herself had seen in the subspace. No, the only reason Serandite was still alive, sitting there on the roof of the Hillworth building, is because Kunzite had chosen to allow her to live. But at what price?
An icy chill ran down her spine as she slowly started putting the pieces together in her mind. She turned towards the younger girl, her face solemn, bordering on angry.
"What did you tell him? He wouldn't have let you live if there wasn't a reason. Serandite, why did he let you go?"

"You realize that some of us are still in school and can't be seen with these injuries right?" She mirrored Nealite's words, not wanting to be a injured pet on display in Crystal Academy anymore than the next person. She didn't care what anyone said but she did care about the nuisance her parents and teachers would be. She would never get a moment of peace if she went back now.
Nealite's sudden solemn outburst from the experience didn't faze Serandite, the girl seemed a bit numb to most things this week. "Bullseye, right on target. Of course he let me go for a reason." Serandite said with such a flippant tone, it probably could have angered Nealite even further. Serandite gave her points for realizing the situation so fast. It wouldn't have been surprising if Nealite had met Kunzite. And based from Nealite's words, she did.
"He asked for information." Serandite continued on, at the risk of another teasing jab from Nealite. "I didn't give him any useful information because you know, a lowly lieutenant such as myself wouldn't know much. Besides, there wasn't much she--he didn't know. He already knew of the corrupted senshi and I gave him several names that sparked as much interest as naming off jellybean flavors." She gave a wave of dismissal, seeming quite calm about the incident now. After all, looking back, there was nothing else she could have done. Except run like a little girl.
Serandite could have honestly stated, the main reason Kunzite let her go was to run back to Charonite and display how insignificant and powerless the negaverse seemed to her-- uh, him.

Her anger slowly began to fade, her irritation trumping any other feeling for the moment. "You think you were injured? Just wait until you find yourself on death's door, then you can talk about being injured."
It wasn't a fair thing to say; the girl had clearly taken a pretty severe beating (especially considering her age and size) but Nealite was never one to be shown up. She knew what it was like to be close to death, so having some shrimp of a girl try to argue with her over her own injuries wouldn't cut it. But that was, out of all the topics of their discussion, the least of Nea's current concerns.
Eyes bore into the pink haired girl as she studied the teenager's expression.
"You actually gave him the information?"
The look she gave the other girl was incredulous, as if to say you pussied out and gave him what he wanted, instead of being the soldier you're supposed to be? But Nealite said nothing. She merely stared at the girl and then turned to stare out onto the Hillworth campus spread out around them.
After a few moments, she shook her head, returning to look at Serandite.
"Just lie next time, okay? It's one thing to just stand there and say nothing, but if you're going to give him any sort of information, just flat out lie, for Christ's sake."

Ha. She hadn't been on death's door, shoved against the wall with Kunzite's sword at her neck? Serandite knew better, that for the moment, she shouldn't argue with Nealite. She wasn't sure if the other would take it as a competition to compete in injuries.
She felt the burning gaze of Nealite, feeling slightly ashamed of herself. But she reminded herself that there was nothing to be ashamed of. She felt her defenses turn on, ready for a yelling. But it didn't come. Even though the angry words didn't follow, Serandite was still quite annoyed at Nealite's next words. While they held only truth to them, Nealite hadn't been in her position.
"Lying didn't help. I didn't stand there by the way, I was held at swordpoint at my neck, shoved against a wall with one eye damaged and my hair being pulled out of my scalp. He knew more than I did, Nealite. He knew our numbers, the negaverse's past, our corrupted senshi-- I have no doubt that he knows a lot more than he let on." Serandite said defensively, burying her stricken expression in her knees, her forehead meeting her knees. The memories were just horrible. And it only happened a few days ago.
"Let me tell you, for a guy, he sure likes aiming for the face and pulling the hair." She tried to smile but failed halfway through, lifting her head up at Nealite. She tried to make light of the encounter, laughing it off weakly.
"Nealite. Uh-- Can I ask a question?" The soft question voiced was surprising since you know, Nealite wasn't always the best person to ask for advice. But Serandite was asking.

"Must be a Cavalier thing, the hair pulling."
One hand rose to absentmindedly rub her own head. God, what was it with men and the hair pulling? ******** caveman era s**t, that's what it was.
As the other girl let out the uneasy laugh, Nealite turned to stare. Surprisingly, her dismissive look had disappeared, replaced with a puzzled expression. How young was this child? Nova had only been, what, fifteen? Seventeen? And she hadn't stood a chance against Kunzite and his blade. Hell, Charonite himself had found a worthy opponent with the teenage Cavalier's fighting skills...how easy it would have been for Kunzite to simply cut down Serandite, who held absolutely no threat in comparison. So why hadn't he? He could have delivered any message to the Negaverse leaders himself; he'd been bold enough to walk in the subspace to begin with, hadn't he?
Her mind returning to the conversation and away from pondering as to why he would simply let her go after using her for information.
"Hm?" Eyes focused back on the girl. "Sure, go ahead."

Serah seemed not to know where to start, uncomfortably shifting herself forward, closing the gap between the two girls by an inch by scooting forward. (Not much at all by the way.) She scratched her own head, finger nervously twirling her hair around a finger.
"Being Sailor Nea and all.. I'm pretty sure you had a few close encounters with death right? Uh-- um." She seemed to choke out the words at this point, the confession was hard to admit. Her next words came out slowly and hesitantly, risking everything on this gamble with Nealite. (She might get a slap from the other as well.)
"How do you deal with that? When I think of fighting again.. and meeting.. K-Kunzite again, of actually dying.. I just freeze, you know? It's like my feet are stuck and they won't move. I get really scared and I just cant seem to get anything to move." Her small hands shook slightly, recalling the experience fresh in her mind, her trembling palms held out in front of her. She looked up with large brown eyes, as if the other could answer all her questions.

Dark orange eyes continued to stare into the young brown ones looking up at her expectantly, but Nealite said nothing, an awkward silence now settling between the two women.
It was an ego stroke, hearing someone talk of her Sailor Nea mission. It was one of her prouder moments as a lieutenant, proof to the others that they had the power in their hands to accomplish things without having to have a face off with yet another pesky senshi. It had been before Serandite's time. Hell, it had been before more than half of their force had joined. But the aftereffects of her work remained evident in the Destiny City's police; no senshi was not pursued, no senshi went unquestioned.
Thoughts quickly turned, however, as she moved from priding herself on her clever scheme to thinking back on the times when she had indeed found herself in trouble. Memories of damaged ribs, cuts and bruises scattered across her pale skin... the terrifying sound of a gunshot ringing through the air, cars speeding in her direction. The memories of her triumphs went hand in hand with the memories of her defeats.
"Yes," she finally said, all-too briefly, "More than my fair share of experiences."
And it wasn't over. It was far from over. Her life was a ticking time bomb, the death of Ursula Johnson inevitable... but when? Months from now? Years from now? When would Beryl take her over completely, when would she consume her host's body for herself?
"You're letting your hold on life interfere with your mission."
Her words sounded as though a lecture was imminent, but her tone lacked the emotion to support it. "It's hard, at first, but you have to remember that your life, the life that you cling to, is no longer yours. What Serah does is one thing, but that is just a mask now. Serandite is who you are, and your life is to serve the Negaverse."
Another brief pause, and Nealite shifted herself, her legs moving to adjust into a more comfortable position. "Allowing yourself to place value in your life is going to make you falter. It gives the enemy something to take hold of. It allows fear. If you're willing to die, willing to accept that your life is not your own, there's nothing left to fear, now, is there?"
She moved again, one hand leaning down to rub against her leg, which had inadvertently scratched itself against a shingle.
"The General-King once told me, the second greatest honor you could ever have in this world would be to give your life for the Negaverse. I can't disagree with him. Your life is only lived in vain if you fail to live it for the Negaverse. That's why I'm here. That's why you are here. To serve."

"You're letting your hold on life interfere with your mission."
So it wasn't Serandite that was the mask Serah took on. Serah was the mask. What a strange way to approach the situation. Serah hadn't realized she had made such a.. heavy commitment to the negaverse by simply joining.
Nealite made sense. Her words pierced Serah deeply but Serah discovered that she didn't like being binded. All of a sudden, it seemed her life had been chained, the heavy chains only now becoming clear. While Serah couldn't completely agree with Nealite's words, she found that she could draw an opposite conclusion from them that did support her own desires. She brushed back a lock of hair behind her ear, the breeze blowing it over her shoulders.
This must be Nealite's point of view because she felt as if her life belonged to the negaverse. While Nealite's devotion may be shared amongst some of the other members, Serah wasn't so sure she was as devoted as Nealite emphasized. Not to say that she didnt have devotion, she did! But she felt as if her life, even as Serandite, was hers to wield. Even if it was owned now.
"You're right on a lot of points Nealite. But what's wrong with valuing my life? Without fear, you can't move forward. Without fear, you turn reckless and stupid." She paused, boldly declaring the next words. "My life may belong to the negaverse but I'm not planning on being some sort of martyr for it. Even if Kunzite says otherwise, I'm planning to see our side win. And dying's not on the agenda for that." She pointed a thumb proudly at herself, her mood swing having changed dramatically. It seemed that Nealite had helped to solidify her beliefs as well, her voice filled with renewed confidence.
"If that's the second greatest honor, what's first?"

She grinned.
"That's the spirit," she assured her, "You don't have to dwell on death, death is inevitable. We can't stop death. But you should go into every battle with the confidence and knowledge that you are a soldier of the Negaverse. We fight with purpose, we fight for a reason."
Giving her leg one last rub, she hoisted herself back up onto her feet and brushed off her backside. Glancing over, Nealite nodded her head, her attention never leaving the shorter girl though it was apparent she was preparing to depart from her presence. "I have little value in my life, but there are things in my life that I hold dear, that I would fight for. Charonite, for example? I would gladly give my life for him. Fear can cripple you,...though I suppose a healthy does would keep you from being overconfident. Now that can get you killed."
All too familiar a situation for herself, unfortunately.
"Just don't let fear take hold of you. If you're in that situation again, don't consider death an option. If you value your life, Serah, then fight for it. Giving in to the notion that it's the end is only going to make it your end."
Purple boots took her to the side of the roof and she leaned over, judging the distance. Took a step back, prepared for her jump, and then paused as she turned her head.
"And the greatest honor?" A sly grin formed on her face. "Giving someone else's life for the Negaverse."
With that, she gave the younger lieutenant a two finger salute and leapt off the building, her own attitude having surprisingly perked up from the conversation.
