In my opinion, one of the greatest gifts that God has ever given me is my keen understanding of animals. There has not been a single time in my life where I didn't have a pet of some sort. Whether it was a gold fish, turtle, or dog, I did have a pet. At the moment, I own six dogs, three rabbits, a six month old kitten, and I lease a horse. I also rescued a turtle off the side of a busy road a few months ago, but I gave her to a rescue.

Some may not consider this a talent, but I myself do. Recently, I was at a family get together. A distant relative brought her new dog, one that was abused and has never been socialized. Most of the night, he was fine, just relaxed on the couch. However, at one point, one of his owners wanted to put his leash on. He leaned over the dog, and the dog began snarling, growling, showing his teeth, etc. The owners grew upset, and said that they couldn't keep him if he was going to act like that...so I stepped in. Within three minutes, I had the dog curled up in my lap, and I put the leash on, and explained to the owners exactly why the dog reacted in the way he did. I haven't been trained, I just understand. The poor dog was scared! He felt threatened, and his owner leaned OVER him. It was a small dog, and his first instinct was to get defensive. As soon as I gave him some space and let HIM come to ME, we were best friends.

So for me, the way I am around animals is absolutely the greatest talent God has given me. I'm sixteen, yet I already know where I'm going in my life because of this. I'm in college, heading towards a DVM, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

Thank you, God.

P.S. He gave me this, too...
