For those who may or may not have followed the depressing series of threads that is my love life. You might be interested to know that I am indeed in a relationship with army guy now.
Update: It hasn't even been a month yet and I think I ******** up pretty bad...
I asked him if he wanted to go skiing, course he's never been before and at first he said yes, but then like 2 days later he says he has to study I ignored it at first, then the next morning when we were supose to ski he says hes going to his friends house. I was like aren't u studying? He says he will study at his friends house. So I respond oh really? you wont be distracted there at all? and then I add that if he doesn't want to ski with me he should just tell me instead of making s**t up, that I don't care if he doesn't want to he should just tell the truth and he assured me he needed to study that he had his books and everything. Then I went to help him study and he was getting all the answers wrong and he asks me why I thought he didn't wana ski with me, and I was really embarassed cause his friends were there so I just said I dunno. Anyways, 2 days later, we're lying in bed, and he's texting his friend, and I take his phone, not like steal it or anything, I was curious, I wasn't doing it behind his back and he didn't stop me and I was reading what his friend text him. It said they needed a favor from him tomorrow and he should tell me now so that I don't have another hissy fit, his friend also sent me a msg on facebook saying I need to stop the crying s**t... " Just giving you friendly advice, as i herd of this event. It is you and only you that will benifit from taking it or not. Trust." So im thinking he was kind of freaked out by my lack of trust and paranoya I'm thinking when I see him sunday I should apologize and try to explain myself

Parfait Parrot Sounds like you need a cat. 3nodding I have a cat lol, but it's a very different kind of cuddle. My cat is like a child to me. He is in love with my new boyfriend lol. He's always accepted the guys I brought home but he is totally in love with this one, jumps up on his lap and purs like mad.

They say the pets know good people. If Rascal approves of him, I'd say do whatever you can for the relationship. If he's really the one, you'll find a way to make it work.

I'll try not to say anything more because I'm totally cynical when it comes to relationships and that wouldn't help you at all lol

I find that if you can't cuddle up with your lover every night, get a big body pillow and douse it with the cologne your guy uses (of however other methods you can use to remind you of him, in case he doesn't wear cologne). Keeping a notebook and scribbling in it every time you miss him could help too. And get a webcam--they're wonderful inventions. smile
Long distance really does suck. But I definitely agree with kclysia in that you should do whatever you can for the relationship. Of course there's a limit--he has to try to--but if you're both willing, you can definitely make it work.
Good luck, Cat--keep us updated.

Yupp, LDRs suck, but they can be worth it. If it's the right person, then all that distance will just bring you closer.

I don't understand why I like him so much. Could it be a purely physical attraction? We don't like the same music, he has this death metal/ skater look going on whereas I guess I'm kind of, sporty/casual, I buy clothes that are comfy, practical and good quality but still make me look good, and he goes for brand names like DC and stuff with skulls and lots of grey and washed out black. He binge drinks, I can't remember the last time I had an entire drink. He's french I'm english lol. He likes bacon and cheese cake, I hate that stuff. He's in the military, only home on weekends but usually ends up sleeping at his friend's apt. I'm in vet tech school, still living at home and the longest I've been away from home was maybe a week. He was a bully and rebel, and didn't get his high school diploma. I was a good girl, and got an award for having the highest mark in math in my whole graduating class. He's a snowboarded, I'm a skier! He's snowboarded a few times in his life, I live to ski. I'm into mountain biking, white water kayaking etc. He's into sitting around a campfire getting drunk....
Do you see where I'm going with this. We have very little in common. Basically we both like animals... We have almost nothing to talk about... But sitting on the couch watching TV, I feel so relaxed and comfortable in his arms. Even though I told myself I was only going to date skiers from now on. I'm like what the heck is happening here, is it purely a physical attraction? Or is it one of those crazy, opposites attract kind of things.

It could be one of those crazy "opposites attract" cases. I mean, as long as you're comfortable with him and everything, thinking about those opposites shouldn't matter much. Think about the things you do have in common. Like my boyfriend and I always say, "it's not a matter of the quantity of things you have in common, but the quality of the things you have in common." If he loves animals too, then he's totally a shoo-in, lol. You know...since animals are a huge part of your life and all.
Think about this: If you had everything else in common...and he hated animals, how would you feel? I think it'd put some tension into the relationship for sure.

well you arent going to agree on every little thing. but i agree with the dew queen. opposites attract.
just make sure he doesnt drink enough to get into trouble. im not saying all drinkers get into trouble but i come from a family of drinkers and some of them get violent so it always makes me worry a bit

@Suong Lee
You make a very good point, if we had every other thing in common, and he hated animals, there is absolutely no way in hell I would be with him.
and Shanna, he isn't violent at all when he is drunk. I've seen him drunk enough times to know. More the opposite, all he wants to do is make out.
