III. ~ + My 'Ambition' :: Statement of Purpose + ~ Today I embark upon another quest. As I review my quest thread, I realize that I am setting extremely high goals for myself as a breedable owner. I've managed to select some of the most highly sought after shops, including Anima Gardens. I am relatively new to the Gaiaverse, so I am struggling with the "newbie" label and working hard to establish my goals within the Breedables realm. As a newcomer, I've have been told by other shop participants and seasoned lurkers, that I am "overzealous and entirely ambitious." Some went as far as to say "don't get your hopes up because I've been stalking for months/years and I still haven't made headway."
It made me wonder if I should be discouraged. If I should pack up my little, barren Gaia suicase and go back to "the real world"? My parents taught me something that most children are not, having ambition is a good thing. If you have big dreams, you have to have the tenacity to make them happen. I think ambition is both a blessing and a curse. It can motivate someone to accomplish great things, but it often comes with great risks, sacrifices, and consequences. One of the compliments to ambition is satisfaction from accomplishment. Caring for a latern and its manifestations, is one of the goals I have set for myself.
It may be ambitious of me, but I think 'Ambition' is begging to come out and take on the world.

She's just the girl next door, though she's across the world!
History: Kalena lived a happy, problem-free childhood. Went to university, met the wrong man and fell in love.
Then the chance for her to chase her dream of teaching in Japan arrived. She had to choose between 'love' and 'ambition'. She chose 'ambition' after her 'love' told her he would support her. He lied. Their marriage failed, and they divorced before their first year of marriage was over.
Kalena survived her homesickness (and emotional abuse from her husband) by plunging herself into her work and her life in Japan. Two years later, she's made a circle of precious friends, loves her job, and fears the day she will return to Florida. With her fellow teachers constantly working overtime and on the weekends, she finds herself a bit lonely at times.
Currently, Kalena's planning a way to return to Japan (but she hasn't even left yet)!

VI. ~ + Symbolism + ~
Native American Folklore ~ + Dreamcatchers + ~  Before we answer it, let us give you a little history. Dreamcatchers are an authentic American Indian tradition, from the Ojibway (Chippewa) tribe. The people would tie sinew strands in a web around a small round or tear-shaped frame--in a somewhat similar pattern to how they tied webbing for Ojibway snowshoes--and hang this "dream-catcher" as a charm to protect sleeping children from nightmares. The legend is that the bad dreams will get caught in the web. Traditionally Native American dreamcatchers are small (only a few inches across) and made of bent wood and sinew string with a feather hanging from the netting, but wrapping the frame in leather is also pretty common, and today you'll often see them made with sturdier string meant to last longer. During the pan-Indian movement in the 60's and 70's, Ojibway dreamcatchers started to get popular in other Native American tribes, even those in disparate places like the Cherokee, Lakota, and Navajo. So dreamcatchers aren't traditional in most Indian cultures, per se, but they're sort of neo-traditional, like frybread. Today you see them hanging in lots of places other than a child's cradleboard or nursery, like the living room or your rearview mirror. Some Indians think dream-catchers are a sweet and loving little tradition, others consider them a symbol of native unity, and still others think of them as sort of the Indian equivalent of a tacky plastic Jesus hanging in your truck. cited from { x }
