Adjusting his cape on his back he leaned onto a cane a bit heavily, age was starting to take a toll. Though a large reason for why he needed that cane at times was because of his constant use of magic. It was very much apart of him as breathing, unfortuntantly it took a heavy price on his body. He smiled wryly as he knew it was due to the nature of his magic. Nothing ventured nothing gained and all that right?
He'd never admit that sometimes his magic was more detrimental to him than benifitual. But even as he waved a hand his chair come floating across the room so he could sit down in it. Ah well at least his mind was still sharp as a tack. He was waiting for his latest student. A male one. He was pleased to see so many students comeing to learn magic from him. It pleased him to no end.

Lian was on time, for once. He had just come from the skate park, noticing at the last minute that he was due to class in, oh, ten minutes. It meant that while he was on time, he was running through the halls bare chested and covered with dirt, scrapes, and sweat. Xiao flew behind him as quickly as she could, huffing her disapproval at his state of undress.
He ran down the stairs, two at a time. The red panda managed to not fall on his a**, instead skittering to a halt with a squeak of his sneakers.
"Hey! Hey! Snap, man, sorry, didn't mean to be late, gah--" Lian dragged his shirt down, huffing and scrubbing at his face. "Gah - magic, right? I'm on time??"

Still sitting in his elaborate looking chair that sneakily resembeled a throne, the older gentleman watched with wry amusement as The red panda took the steps haphazardly at a time before finally setteling at the bottom and yanking a shirt down over his head.
At the question he merly shook his head his fingers pressed together in a much too amused manner.
"No no, I'd say you had at least thirty seconds left before being considered late." He answered with dry humor before he chuckeled and shifted in his seat to sit up straighter.
"I am Thaddeus Zyane, I will be yes, your magic instructor for the day. " He gestured towards a large pillow that was sitting on the ground a few feet away and it lifted into the air and slowly came towards Lian.
"Please take a seat, and whilst you catch your breath you can start by telling me what you know of magic thus far."

"Awesome! Rock on, uh, yeah. Cool," Lian grinned crookedly, rubbed at his cheeks with rough paws. He hopped back and forth, tail twitching wildly as Zyane talked about, uh, something and waved his hand and this and that. He sat, though, and didn't worry over much about falling on his a** with that floating pillow.
In fact, he flopped back, stretching out with a little yawning squeak. Reverence for the elderly? His betters? Who knew. One of his sneakers kicked idly.
"Ah, I can sort of put a spell together? And I can summon this wicked cool glowy bright yellow junk, it's super awesome. I want to learn how to shoot some Kame-Hame-Ha stuff, Goku-style, but Raven says I wasn't allowed to. I've been working with her! She's cool.
What're we doing today?"

Wicked cool bright yellow junk? How...descriptive...
"Ah I see then, well since you seem to be interested in learning how to weild magic perhaps we should first figure out what KIND of magic you are best suited in learning?" He ventured though he had never heard of this kame-hame-ha...thing or Goku style... but he figured it was just something kids of today were probably familar with.
"This 'yellow junk' was it electrical? Or something more?" he inquired.

"Uhhhhmmmm..." Lian screwed his features together, ears flicking back as the boy went deep into thought. To his rear, Xiao sighed at her humans silliness. "No, it wasn't electrical. Prof' Raven made us 'reach into our souls' and, like, drag the soul stuff up. Mine was white at first! She said it was 'neutral', because I didn't lean in any real direction.
"Then I kept practicing at home an' it started to turn yellowish. It glows and goes bright sometimes, but I don't know what it means," Lian shrugged, rubbing at his nose with one fuzzy paw. He was getting a thicker coat in the winter, an odd thing from a red panda. He didn't figure it out, either. "Doesn't feel electrical at all, though. I'm real good at summoning it, though! Want me to?"

Zyane nodded his head to the boy, it would be best to see what exactly he was summoning to get a better feel of the direction he should be leading the boy in his studies.
He shifted in his large chair so he could lean forward to watch the boy work.
"Go ahead m'lad, I am watching intently." He urged.

"Rock on!" Lian grinned, almost jumped in place. He quickly fell still, cleared his throat, and put out his hands. One hand cupped under the other, fingers slightly curled into a miniature cup.
It only took a moment for the first small flicker of light to appear. Raven may have thought him a moron (although Lian thought she was the coolest person on the Earth) but he had surprised even her with his talent. At first it was merely walnut in size and steadily grew until in his hands floated an orange-sized ball, smooth and with writhing colors between orange and yellow. It took him all of three minutes.
Lian peeked his eyes open. Once more, that silly grin over took his face.
"See?!"

The man watched with a curious arched eyebrow as the boy in front of him summoned the ball was interesting shade and it took him several seconds to place the type of magic into a catagory. Guessing by the colors he would of thought it was the element of Fire. But it was still in its raw state so no heat eminated from it.
Judging from the child's personality Fire made perfect sense.
"I see you have a talent for it," He murmured with a nod of his head, "Have you tried to do anything besides summoning it before?"

"I'm good. Prof' Raven doesn't talk to me like I'm totally stunted and junk anymore," No bragging filled his tone - what the boy said came as a fact to him. He was good at summoning and he knew it. Lian took excitement in knowing he could, one day, be an awesome Saiya-jin but other than that he liked the fact that teachers didn't think he was stupid. He grinned, wriggled his fingers so the magic slowly sunk away, burrowing into his fingertips. "She thought I was, like, some total idiot, y'know, because I talk not like her an' I'm hyper an' all that stuff."
Lian laughed. "She probably still does! But whatevs, I think she's cool. She's okay."
He shrugged, rubbing that slightly fizzing hand to his thigh. Raven had called him 'jaded' once. So what, maybe he was.
"Wha? No, man. I figured it'd be totally dump to, like, do dangerous stuff on my own, y'know? Crap could backfire, hurt me bad, so I figure I'd just wait. I want to, though."

Granted the older fellow was having a time of it trying to follow along with the boy's speech pattern he was able to figure out the basics. Yes he had summoned his magic many times before, but he hadn't gone past that and actually used it in a spell.
"Well my boy, do you think you are up for the challenge of using your magic in a spell? We can start slow..." The gentleman was mulling in the the back of his head an easy fire spell that ..didn't do a lot of damage for Liam to start with.
"There are many types of uses for fire spells...tell me boy, what kind of thing do you see yourself using this magic for?"
