He wasn't sitting this time, it was quite strange that he wasn't in his comfortable and favorite cushioned chair, in fact he had just come up a flight of stairs that had lead into a lower level of his classroom. He seemed deep in thought as he appeared at the top of the steps and then glanced at his watch, his newest student should be arriving any moment now.
On his desk was a list of names of students he had just recently aquired, and he was very interested in teaching them all. The past teachers they had, he would need to meet with them sometime. See what they thought and how they used magic. He always found it interesting to see how the students reacted to him... he was a bit excentric.
The room was still as it always ways. Plenty of shelves crammed with books, some ancient some pretty new. The lighting was dim because of the candles he had set up about the room. He couldn't help it as...he favored darkness.

Emi did not like the dark. Not even the slightest bit, in the smallest way did she enjoy the dark. The swan would be the first person to admit she was the type of young woman to sleep with a few night lights on. That said, she was very cautious in moving into that dim room.
Today, she wore jeans. Fitted, dark-colored but brightly sparkled jeans, still jeans, and her shirt was (gasp!) a simple shirt. The sleeves were partially ruffled, a bit of lace round the collar, but Emi still managed to dress like a normal girl.
Odette trailed behind her, a slim slither of feathers and rainbow. Emi glanced around when she came to the stairs, scooting down hesitantly.
"H-Hello?" She whispered loudly, "Hello?"

Zyane looked up as his student entered his classroom a grin on his face at the cute girl and how ..nervous she seemed to be.
"Ah Miss Emi, glad you were able to join me today." He stated as he moved towards the bottom of the steps to great his student. He raised a hand the lighting seemed to grow brighter.
"I am sorry for the dim lighting, my poor old eyes they are rather sensitive to light these days." He explained with a chuckle. Though in mannerisim he was very friendly excentric even, he seemed dressed like he came out of cliche vampire film. A long cape on his shoulders the inside a deep rich red velevet. He was leaning on a cane, white gloves adorning his hands. One would think he was ready to go to the opera...not teach a magic class.

"O-Oh... No, no, that's fine," she shook her head, chewed at her lower lip hard enough to draw a ping of pain. Emi shook her head, her hands twisting together in her own nerves. She was used to Raven - wasn't sure why she wasn't with her now except that she needed to 'broaden her horizon as a student'.
Eyes narrowed in on Zyane, Emi slowly edged further into the room. "I'm just - I'm not a fan of the, the dark. That's all."
Or being alone with an adult. Set her on edge. That was one thing she didn't think she'd say to him, though.

Ah..that would explain her nervousness, Zyane nodded his head and then summoned a couple small balls of light in the air which he distributed within the room it brightened up considerably.
"I hope that makes you more comfertable lass," He offered with a small smile as he continued to lean against his cane.
"Now that we have light, I am Thaddeus Zyane," The warlock offered as he made a sweeping bow though it seemed to show that he didn't really need the cane, perhaps it was just for looks?
"Since this is your first time with me, I would like to inquire on your past knowledge in this feild. What do you know of magic? What have you learned?"

Emi nodded, clasped her hands in front of herself, squeezing tight. She still didn't sit, eyes trailing down to the ground. The swans wings were pulled tight against her back.
"I know the-the basics. Not a lot, not really, but I can read and understand some things, I know how to use labs and the instruments there," Emi rubbed her hands together, chewing at her other lips. "I - I was hoping we could do something different tonight."

He watched the girl who seemed to be very nervous being here. He only shifted as he leaned on his cane contemplating a moment before he nodded his head and then half turned away from her.
"You know the technical aspects, though it sounds like you have never experienced weilding magic." He murmured with a look to the small girl.
"It would be best to try summoning your magic so we know what type you are best suited in learning. Would you like to do that?" He inquired before he turned back to face her a little further from her than before to give her more space.

"Okay," whispered the small white swan. Her hands re-clasped, squeezing, twisting at her almost too skinny hands. "My - my brother, he can summon magic but he never really showed me how. I'd - I'd like to try."
Another nod, quicker, and she rubbed her hands against her legs hesitantly. "How?"

The older gentleman stood leaning on his cane before he gestured for the girl to put her hands in front of her.
"I want you to close your eyes, magic is apart of every creature...you just need to look deep insight yourself...and feel for a power and mentally will it into your hands." He instructed, normally he would of demonstrated but since his own magic was rather..dark and menacing he didn't want to scare the girl before even giving her a chance to try.

Emi closed her eyes, hands cupped delicately in front of herself. She bit hard to her lower lip, squeezing her eyes shut. She could do it. She could! Breathe. Breathe.
It took a long moment for her to even think about reaching into herself. There was no power, at least not in the way she thought of it. Rakhas' power differed from what it was she felt: something light, a swirling little cloud of nothing. Nothing made of something.
The most she could muster was a pea sized, blueish green ball, soft tendrils of opaque sky blue swirling around it with a lazy pace. Emi dared to open her eyes, staring down at it as she struggled to keep herself concentrating on it.
"It looks like a planet," whispered the small thing. The orb faded to nothing once she began to talk. Emi blinked, stared up at Zyane. "Was-- was that it?"

Given the size of the magic sphere she had summoned it was a bit more difficult to discern which type of magic it was that she had called forth. Granted all he needed to do was close his own eyes and lift a hand towards it and concentrate before figuring out that her type was a natural thing. Water.
"Looks like my dear you have the skill to wield water." He murmured softly. "Very good for your first try, don't be scared of it, but make sure that you keep a firm control on your magic. Magic needs to know who is in charge or it will do what it wants." He spoke with a nod of his head.
"Very good, did you want to try summoning it again? Bigger this time?"
