Ah, another flight class. With a silver dragon. Peri had sent a note, telling the student to meet her at the elevator to the canyon around back of the D-corp building. She stood there, waiting for the student to arrive.

Ellie was for once more excited over something the Valens was and the pair of them were for all intents and purposes were in a foot race toward where they were supposed to be meeting their teacher. The silver came to a sliding halt when she sat the teacher and Valens fumbled, slid, and his hooves caught little traction so he collided with her. He blinked a couple times then lifted up to look over her back and wave, "Afternoon!" He said in a happy manner.
The silver turned to look at the woman and smiled, "Good afternoon!" She chirped before tilting her head to the side, "Ah! Look, Valens. We have a new teacher for this class." She chirped, looking the woman over in a delighted manner. She was all for learning from anyone really when it came to learning to take to the sky but she always enjoyed meeting new people.
Valens nodded, "That is cool." He agreed, Valens was a fan of basically everyone but favored women if for no other reason then the fact that they were bouncy, "Thanks for doing this class, Ellie has been looking forward to it. Something about Silvers belonging in the sky or so she tells me."

Peri saw the pair coming and couldn't help but laugh at their collision. These two would be an interesting pair, it seemed. The dragon teacher was a bit surprised at the silver's firm grasp of English and smiled. "Good afternoon to you as well."
She turned to Valens and chuckled. "They all seem to look forward to this class." Peri gestured for the two to move into the elevator, following them in and pressing the button for the canyon floor. As the elevator started its descent, the teacher looked to Valens once more. "Has she tried any sort of flight on her own?"

Ellie and Valens joined the teacher in the elevator for the ride down and the horse boy watched the way that the dragoness seemed to almost be dancing in place she was so excited. He gave a bit of a chuckle before looking over at Peri, "A lot of flapping of her wings, a couple of moments where shes gotten running starts to do a bit of gliding." He explained to the teacher.
"I seem to be missing something, the secret key to flight." She told the teacher as she watched the numbers as they counted down, tail starting to swish behind her. Almost there...

The doors opened and the teacher motioned for the two to get off, leading the way towards an open area she used for these classes. "I see. That's a good start, though. The key is in the timing, it seems. You have to get a good downstroke timed with a strong forward jump." She grinned as she added, "Landing is actually the hardest part of it all."
Peri motioned for Valens to stay back. "Why don't you go ahead and try some more. Want to make sure you're comfortable with flying alone before putting this boy of yours on your back."

Ellie tilted her head to the side, timing was the key? She gave a thoughtful sound as she took note of what the teacher was suggesting before she trotted forward. A good down stroke timed with a strong forward jump, she should be able to do that she thought as she started forward at a quick pace to attempt it.
Valens watched Ellie as she went before giving his teacher a smile, "Sounds good, as heavy as I am its probably best not to have her start with all my weight on her back." He said, amused. While Ellie enjoyed carrying him about on her back when they were walking he didn't think it would work out quite as easily for her when in flight.
He turned to watch her, doing his best to smother laughter as she tried to put into play what the teacher had told her to do. She looked so serious, then again she often looked serious didn't she? No doubt since he was so laid back she tried to make up for that by working harder herself, "You doing good El! Keep it up!" He called after the Silver.

Peri eyed the boy. Hmm, he was part horse, so he looked to be rather solid. "She'll have to build up muscle, but soon she'll be able to fly you with no problems." After all, D-corp would've taken his DNA into consideration and silvers were one of the larger dragon types. It would all work out. This one would just have to be more careful and take it slower than most at first.
The teacher turned her attention to the silver, watching silently. She hadn't had a dragon yet that had walked away unable to fly (unless, of course, they were limited by something like no wings...) and so she felt it was natural for the dragons. It just took some learning to figure it all out.

"Build muscle, huh? Do you think I should let her carry me around more?" He asked of the teacher, "She likes to do it because she can now, its not as much fun being carried as it running with her but if its better for her." His ears flicked back and forth as he thought about it. He would give up some of his running if it was something that would help Ellie, he wanted to help her like she always helped him.
The dragon suddenly gave a happy sound when she was able to get up off the ground, flapping her strong wings at just the right moment it seemed that she was able to take flight before gliding back down to the ground. She starred at her feet for a moment before turning to look over at Valens, as though to make sure that he'd been watching.
"Awesome job Ellie! Your doing great, you will be flying in no time!" He called out to her, praising the Silver to the point that she might have started to blush over it if she were able. She turned away, embarrassed before she returned back to her work.

Peri shook her head. "Dragons use different muscles to walk than to fly. But, once she's good at flying solo, you can put weighted bags on her so she can gradually get used to carrying more and more weight."
"Very good." She'd let the silver practice a few more times before calling a break.
Once the break was called, she got her students to relax for a bit. "We do this class here in the canyon because the high walls help keep the air flowing in one direction. But, in open air, there are many different currents, each flowing in different directions. These can come in handy while flying. Often, just moving up or down a bit will find a current flowing in the direction you want to travel in. There are also updrafts and downdrafts, columns of rising and falling air. Updrafts are great ways to gain height easily. Watching birds in flight, especially larger birds, can give you ideas of how they use these currents."

"Weighted bags... can do." He said after a moment of thought, giving a grin before he turned to watch the way that Ellie went about her task once more. When the break was called and the Silver returned to him he lifted his hands up to stroke them over her gleaming scales, "Your doing good El, very good!"
Ellie gave him a smile before turning her head to look at the teacher, resting for a moment on her haunches though she didn't want to really show off how tired she was feeling. Valens was so very athletic that she wanted to be able to keep up... as such she kept up a strong front, "I see, I will be careful when I attempt flight outside of this place." She told the teacher after a moment of thought, "Can we come down here again for practice after this class ends?" She would rather get in as much practice in this environment as she could before moving on to one that would be more complicated.

Peri gave a nod after a moment's thought. "I'm sure I can arrange it where a tech can bring you down here." It made sense after all. This was the best place for a beginner flier. "Now, usually, I let both child and dragon fly together briefly at the end of class. If you are both up to it..." She didn't want to push the silver into something Ellie didn't want to do. "If not, I can show Valens here how to sit and you can practice riding together later."

The pair exchanged thoughtful looks, seeming to debate over it. Valens was the first to shake his head, "I'd rather she be ready before she tries to fly with me." He said, "But I would like to figure out the way to best sit on her back."
Ellie gave a slight pout at that, she wanted to show them that she could do this! That she was able to carry her boy in the sky but... maybe it was best that they get practice in. The last thing that the Silver was to be unable to stay in the air, crash, and hurt Valens, "Please, show me how to carry Valens." She murmured at last to the teacher.
It was a little funny to Valens really, a horse riding on the back of something. He walked over to Ellie, patting a hand over her smooth and pretty scales before he crawled up onto her back the way that he sat on her when she was just walk, "Where is the best place to sit so I am not in her way?"

Peri watched as the boy climbed up, nodding. "You want to stay as close to her center of gravity as possible. So just in front of her wings and behind her front legs. Stay low and countermove to her turning. If she turns left, you want to lean right. If you lean left, you can tumble right off."
The teacher thought for a moment to make sure she hadn't forgotten anything. "That should be it. Just remember to take it slow. That's all for today!"

Valens shifted the way that he was sitting on Ellie so that he was in the optimal spot and Ellie went to trotting back and forth with him on her back, wings flapping, though she didn't try taking off. She was determined to be well trained in this skill before attempting to leaving the ground with Valens on her back.
When the teacher said that they were done for the day the pair nodded but continued to run around circles around her before following when the teacher headed out.
