Hey guys! (Yes, I know I just randomly show up and disappear. I'm just ninja like that. >.>)
Anyways, we started our drill season practice early this year, at the beginning of October. ((This Drill is for our JROTC program, not dance or cheer or anything like that.)) And now, this weekend, we will have our first drill meet. (There's a total of 4, 5 if your good enough, a year.) We are going to Oregon City this Saturday for the first meet. We have to be on the bus headed there at 3:30 am because its almost a 3 hour drive. DX
But, I'm really looking forward to this drill season! We get to compete with other schools, and its so much fun! Sadly, because of medical issues, I cant participate with the Armed team...But, being on Unarmed is O.K.
DEF (Dark_Eco_Freak) will probably be taking lots of pictures, so I'll see if I can snag and post some of them after the event. I'll let you all know how well things went after the meet too.
So, do any of you participate on a Drill Team for your ROTC program?

I never was much interested in Drill Team. I always was more of a bandie/rifle cadet (Is captain of rifle and Pipe Major this year! Woot!). The only real thing I've done for drill team is a while ago when it apparently became my job to recruit for it, despite never having been on it... (Long story short, my sister is a rank above me, and my dad thinks that makes it okay for her to tell me to do all of her cadet duties at home, such as calling cadets).
Ours usually only goes to one or two competitions, but performs for the squadron and at our annual parade. We have regionals, and then provincials if we're good enough.

I would have joined Drill Team, if it were not for the fact that two of the clubs I have positions in are on the days the meetings are held. I'm on Rifle Team and Raiders, so I'm practically busy with those as well.

Never signed up for the Army/Marines/Air Force. I'm not the soldier type, more of an observer.

Well, we have rifle team cadets on the drill team, 'cause rifle team meets after school and drill team before. Also, our rifle team competes at the drill meets with us.
So! Our Unarmed team finally placed! (Last year was our first time placing in a few years.) We got sixth, the lowest place...but at least we placed.
AND! Best of all! Our Armed team took 1st place in their part! WHOO! =3

Ved_of_Flames Never signed up for the Army/Marines/Air Force. I'm not the soldier type, more of an observer. We're not actually in the Army, Marines, or Air Force. We're in ROTC/Cadets. I think some of you guys are Sea, right? And Namine is Army? (I say Sea instead of Navy because here, Navy Cadets for for wee little kids. A pre-cadets, almost) Any ways, assuming yours is the same as ours, it started in the 1879 for Canada, and that was the Army Cadets first. 1905 for Sea Cadets, and in 1941 for Air Cadets. Their general purpose was to train, at the time, young men for military service before they were actually old enough to joint he military. That way, they could spend less time in training at the age when they could be sent into battle. Air Cadets focused mainly upon training, obviously, pilots, observers, and just air and airfield crewmen. Many squadron somewhere along the line had a few young women interested, although at the time we legally could not be fed, kitted, trained, or go to training camps. And we couldn't form up with the men. But many squadrons, corps, and whatever you call a group of navy or sea cadets, had a flight of females. So eventually the legislature that stated it was for young boys changed to the word young persons, ergo we are legally allowed to kick a**. biggrin And wish me luck. I'm currently the best applicant for the senior marksmanship team, and I'll likely be Captain like my brother was last year (He retired). But there's a chance he might give the position of Captain to another cadet who is a year senior to me, even though I'm the best shooter.

Yeeah, we're pretty much Army, considering we do a ton of exercising and nothing else. We drill, have rifle matches, and go to competitions.
Which reminds me, I got one coming up for Raiders. We might have an all-girl team this year, meaning we might lose unless I step up with several other contenders on our team.
