It had taken the better part of the day to get Domevlo home. His ranting and raving was a normal thing at times but the other day it had taken everything Thanatos had not to lose his cool. To be honest he'd couldn't remember the last time he'd cursed so much for any given thing in a long time. Once he managed to pry the lead frei from his favorite museum he rushed him home quickly and called Alex for help.
She had explained to him that he needed to be some place cold, freezing even. The only place he could think was in the guest room which for some reason was hotter in the summer and colder in the winter. Being it winter it helped. Turning on the air condition full blast he strapped the poor frei to a chair and locked the door behind him. The whole time he stood near the phone for any word from the woman he'd grown comfortable with.
The whole time this strange fiasco with the virus had been going on, Xan hadn't even known that Domevlo had any powers somehow letting the frei roam around unattended was a poor judgment call on his part. "s**t." He breathed berating himself silently as he awaited Alex's arrival.

She came as quickly as she could to the address on file, somewhat in a state of disarray. Approaching the impressive household with a whisper of sneakers over the leaf-stopped ground, she tucked her sleeves over her unbandaged arms and rapped her gloved knuckles on the door. Alex had been in the middle of dressing her wounds when Xan had called, and with little more than a grey jacket over her tank top and jeans, she had all but hauled a** to the cowboy's home. The sleeves kept the majority of her burns hidden, but there was no hiding the purple bruise over her left eye that gave her a bit of a shiner, or the bandage over her neck. The Italian looked like she'd gone a round in a knife fight, but who had won wasn't exactly clear.
Pushing her unbound hair over her shoulder, she paused, thought better of it and tried to brush it back and against her neck. Her bangs were swept to the side, but they weren't enough to cover the softball-sized bruise and small knot. "Xan?" she called, fingers reaching towards her inner pocket to touch the needle that was stored within.

Xan had moved to the door quickly upon hearing the soft voice. He only momentarily ventured a look at the guest room before opening the front door just a peek. "Good to see ya, lass." He greeted with a weary smile. She looked like she'd gone through hell and back again. It didn't seem right to ask her what happened, he was quite certain it had something to do with the virus and Zul. Poor thing... "How is Zul?" He asked after a while, having not seen the frei with her. Moving to open the door he let her in, eyes gazing down the hall toward the door where Domevlo rested.
"He's in the guest room." He sighed closing the door after she had entered. "He's developed some strange talents; just thought ya like to know" He gave her a slight nod in the direction of the room. "Ya'll see when we get there." Going silent, he lead the way down the hall, knocking lightly on the guest room door. "Domo I'm coming in."
With the announcement a soft moan escaped the frei's lips followed by his demands. "Cold... so cold... let out. Want out!" Thanatos knew better then that but opened the door, sliding out of the way, for Alex to get a look. To the untrained eye it seemed all was fine, Domevlo was tied to a chair with a tired expression in his eyes but upon closer inspection one would find a thin (weak) layer of lead covering his skin. A buffer against the cold air perhaps?
"Just be careful, he's been a little tricky to get near."

"Hey," she greeted the cowboy when he opened the door, again struck by his appearance. Xan was definitely a handsome man, even when worn so thin. Alex stepped in and gave the cowboy a tired smile at the question, brushing her hair behind her ear again out of habit. "He's fine. Cured and helping me with the other Raevans - I left him home today though." He had some packing he had to finish, and she was pretty sure she could handle Domo with Xan's help.
Green eyes turned up to the man's minty ones, nodding in the slightest. "They all did," she offered up quietly, hoping to soothe the man of any worries he might have. It was hard to say that the abnormal was normal when it came to the virus, but it really was the status quo. The Italian followed him in silence, refraining from reaching out to try and comfort him - she was getting better at it, as time went by.
Pausing in front of the indicated door, she peeked around the edge when it was opened. Her heart sank at the sight - she'd done the same to Zul not that long ago - and to hear Domo's sad plea was enough to make her squeeze into the room with Xan's last warning. "Domo?" she called, eyes turning around the room in careful measures, not wanting to be caught off guard if he wasn't as docile as he appeared. "Domo, sweetie, it's Alex. Do you remember me? I'm Zul's Guardian."
She paused a short distance from him, her breath barely visable by her lips as she spoke. "I'm here to let you out, but you have to do something for me first, okay?" Crouching down, she rested her elbows on her knees and nodded to the Frei. "I need you to withdraw your coating there. If you can do that for me, I can get you out of here and make you feel better. I want to see you happy and healthy again, Domo." Alex would try reasoning with Domevlo first, as it seemed the Lead Frei was still in control of his mental facilities.

Domelvo shivered slightly, from the cold or the appearance of another in the room, he couldn't know. He just wanted to be let out, to get warm again and curl up under a nice warm blanket while watching the tv. "Alex?" He crooned, eyes glazing over the figure of the woman. He could remember her, Zul's woman, she was nice. He liked her. "Want see Zul 'gain. Can play yes?" He asked weakly trying to hold on to his usual cheer but what remnants of the virus that were still in control over the cold did not like the woman getting close.
Shivering uncontrollably, the frei shifted in the chair, pulling against the rope that held him still. With the woman moving forward, the virus reacted not violently at first, only working hard to form a solid coating but it was just too weak... too cold. Instead the virus tried repeating the lead coating over the frei's skin.
While the virus worked, Domo tried working against it, tried giving commands to remove the touch skin so she could make all the cold go away. He trusted her but something was keeping him from removing the layers. "Domo try... Not work. What do now... want out. Pweeese help."

Her smile was as warm as she could make it, even as her heart broke for the Frei's condition. "Yes. Zul really wants to see you again too, Domo. He always likes to see how much you've grown." Alex watched him carefully, her green eyes keen to observe his movements and magical reactions; she was a little baffled that the Lead Frei seemed to be in complete control of his psychological parts, but not the latent magic. She wondered if that had something to do with his soul...
The plea for help about undid her resolve to be professional, but she wrestled herself back into submission. Being emotional wasn't going to help him! Standing, she took slow, measured steps towards Domevlo, spreading her hands to show she was harmless. She continued at that pace until she was by his side, where she kneeled this time and looked over his skin. "Okay, let's...let's see how solid this is," she said out loud, lifting a hand and drawing her jacket sleeve over his dark skin.
Surprise lit her features. "Graphite?" Alex mused out loud, looking at the rough texture that remained on her sleeve, a portion of his skin free of it - for the moment. Like the other Raevans, she had an idea that time was not in her favor. The woman fixed Domo with a serious look, withdrawing the needle and alcohol swab from her pocket. "This is the cure for your sickness, Domo," she said softly, holding it up so he could see it. "It's going to be very cold when I give it to you, and you're going to get sleepy. It's okay to sleep!" She pushed up one of his white bracers and used her sleeve to again wipe off some of the graphite, this time against his bound wrist. Alex was actually grateful for his bonds, as it allowed her to feel out his veins where his dark skin wouldn't allow her to see it easily.
"When you wake up, I promise, you're going to be okay again. Warm, and happy, and you can play all you want. Are you ready?" The alcohol-laden swab passed over his wrist, and feeling his vein with her thumb, she took the guard of the needle off the tip. She would not proceed until he gave her permission; she wanted to give him some 'control' over the situation, since he was very aware of all that was going on.

"Domo will play with Zul again. Be warm and happy..." He repeated Alex's words, smiling to himself under the mask. Leaning back in the chair his eyes watched her carefully, trusting her not to hurt him. "Alex can help. Want help." He breathed shivering against the cold. He saw the needle wondering about the thin material. Wasn't it like a pin? When you p***k yourself with it it hurts...
"It won't hurt?" He asked fishing for reassurance. "Don't want to hurt." He pleaded with her but made no sudden movements to stop her. If what she had were going to help him then he would endure it.
"Domo..." Slipping into the room, Thanatos wrapped his arms around the frie's shoulders giving him a warm hug. "Just hang in there kiddo. It will all be over soon okay?"
Looking to the cowboy the lead frei nodded, "Domo will do." He then turned his gaze to Alex and nodded. "Is ready."

Alex shifted her eyes to Domo's face at his question. This had been a rather difficult one for her; the Lead Frei was so genuinely sad, she just wanted to whisk away all his upset and wipe this period of time from his memory. As it were, all she could do was promise to take away the pain and see it through to the end.
"It will pinch," she finally said, looking at the bound hands and determining that it wasn't the best angle to be free of pain. "But it'll be a quick pinch, and it wont hurt. It's a small needle." She wore a smile to back up her words. "The cold might sting a little, but it's just cold. Like touching ice!" Alex glanced gratefully to Xan as he gave some affection to his ward. "Domo, have you touched ice?" she asked, waiting to hear his voice before she very carefully slid the needle into his skin. "It'll be a quick cold. And then you'll be sleepy, and then..."
She pushed the pump with her thumb, administering the cure into the dark Frei's system. "...it'll all be over."

He couldn't really answer after the cold began to fill his body. Shivering all over his eyes went wide at the sudden chill, it was much worse then the cold air he'd been trapped in for the last few hours. Now he felt his body shutting down, something inside him seemed to be shifting, very unpleasantly at that. "N-n-not like..." He managed between chatter teeth, eyelids falling with every minute. "N-not like.." He repeated.
Watching her pull the needle from his wrist he jerked quickly, pulling against the ropes that held him there. "W-want out... want out! L-l-let out... p-p-pweese... c-cold." He chattered violently from the cold in his body. "N-n-n'ver t-t-ouch ice. N-no like ice.
Thanatos sighed giving Alex a tired smile. "I'll stay with him." He offered noting the frei was babbling by now. Making demands that held little weight. "Is there anything else he needs?" The cowboy asked, brushing back Domo's hair as his eyes began to shut and his breathing slowed.

"I know, sweetie...be strong, just a little longer." She put the needle in a baggie as well as the swab, putting the 'trash bag' in her pocket again and lightly stroking the Frei's arm. At the plea to be let out, she nodded to Xan to quietly tell him that he could be freed. He wouldn't be conscience much longer anyway.
Alex exhaled quietly through her nose, tilting her head to look up at the cowboy. "Just some rest. I'll need to take a blood sample in a few hours, before he wakes up preferrably - is that okay? I'll call you in a couple of hours." The Italian stood, brushing her knees off, and then brushing the graphite off her sleeves. "I'll leave you two to rest now, some calm now that the storm is passed."
With a tired smile, she rolled her shoulders in a stretching motion before settling her hands in her pockets. "It's over now. Hopefully everything will be a life less ordinary from here on out."

Glad for the relaxed stat that Domevlo was in, Thanatos untied the frei shifting him to the bed to rest comfortably. Turning to Alex he gave a soft smile, less weary then before. "I'm just glad all is safe now." He breathed. "I'll be here for the sample."
He quickly covered Domo with a blanket and headed for the door, ushering himself and Alex out. Closing the door behind him he leaned against it with a grateful sigh of relief. "Thank you, Alex." He breathed unable to help himself he gave her a quick warm hug then released her. "If you need anything let me know."

She quickly made her way out with Xan, giving Domo one last fond glance over her shoulder before the door was closed. One more was cured from their folly...the nightmare was almost over.
Alex chuckled at his sigh, lifting a hand to pat his arm, and instead finding herself in a hug. Never one to pass one of those up - despite the agonizing scream of her bandaged arms - she hugged Xan affectionately in return. "I'm glad to be of any help at all," she replied, smiling sweetly up at him, "and I will. Thank you." Adjusting her sleeves, she added, "And if you or Domo need anything, don't hesitate to call. You guys are my family, y'know."
With pleasantries aside and the worry now gone, the two said their farewells for the time being. She'd return in a few hours to give Domevlo a full clean bill of health, and a promise of a playdate with Zul. It was the least she could do.
