Trinket slid her feet out in front of her, left then right; the young lust spawn wobbling a little as she gliding out onto the ice. She'd never been skating before and it was weird; the ice was hard like the ground the she walked on but there was no grip and she had to wear skates which pinched at her feet. How she was supposed to stop was still a mystery to the purple skinned girl as she'd yet to see anyone else do it up close.
With her arms and both Tiima and Sia spread out for balance Trinket slowly made her way around the rink. At least it was only kids around her age with her, the girl didn't think she could handle skating with adults just yet.
Penny watched from the stands hoping she'd made the right choice in a kid's skate. It meant she couldn't help the girl but at the same time she wasn't surrounded by a lot of older or younger kids either. Some of the others in the ice were certainly better than Trinket but some were also visibly worse so that shouldn't be intimidating either.

Walking carefully and with a bundled up little brother holding his hand, Shylock walked towards the ice rink. Over his shoulder, their skates were slung as he didn't want to force Nero to carry them through the bus ride. Having decided that his brother needed to join him in his 'get out of the house and out of Papa's way' excursions.
The mint haired boy helped Nero pull the skates on and stand with them before putting on his own. He had marginally good balance with these, particularly because of his tail. Though as they walked out towards the ice, before stepping onto it, the boy spotted someone familiar. "Hi Miss Penny!" he called before turning to take Nero skating.

Penny waved and smiled, Taylor would be sad he'd missed his friend but it was probbaly for the best, besides he still had classes to attend until the end of the week.

Nero would have been perfectly happy at home staring at the new baby and trying to feed her squished grapes. The betta child was not overly fond of the col either but for Shy he would try this skating stuff. "Don't let go Shy" even with his own tail for balance Nero had no intention of skating alone without big brother's help.
~
Trinket turned to see who was calling Penny's name, curious about if they meant her Penny. Her green eyes caught the pair the woman was waving at and at her own pace she tried to make her way back to them.

Shylock squeezed Nero's hand lightly. "I won't, Ner." he assured the boy, patting his head with his free hand. He didn't really want to drag his brother out in the cold but their Papa had been getting a tad irritable after too many times of telling the fish boy to let Maion alone so he figured it was good to scatter before getting in trouble.
The minty boy smiled up at Trinket. She looked familiar - maybe she was from Sevens like Lissy had been. She'd had tentacles too, even if they were weird. "Hello there." he greeted.

" Hi, how do you know Penny?" Trinket asked curiously, her balance wobbling again as Sia stretched out towards the colourfull fishboy's fins. She'd never seen anything quite like him before. The minty haired boy he was with was odd too but looked sort of like Taylor and some other's she knew.
The fin's on Nero's tail gave a warning ripple, winter clothing or not he would flare the fins he could if something weird happened. What if she was sick, the ends of her tentacles were all black and stuff.

Shy glanced down at Nero and pat his head again. "Relax, Ner, it's not gonna hurt you." he told his brother gently, though he didn't really know himself. "They aren't dangerous, right?" he inquired, indicating the tentacles.
"Oh, Penny's my best friend's mom. I see her when I visit Taylor. How do you know her?" he asked, smiling a little. If she knew Penny, she probably knew Taylor.

" Taylor's my twin!" Trinket gave a little squeal of glee " We're opposite twins and we live together now" her happiness faded in her voice a little at that. She'd always wanted to be closer to him but not like this. Still it was only till Ryvan came back. Remembering his other question she shook her head " They aren't dangerous just friendly. They're Sia and Tiima, Wynni named them for me." Trinket gestured to each tentacle in turn as she explained. " I'm Trinket"

The boy's face brightened even more. "Oh! I've heard about you from him! Nice to meet you Trinket." he said pleasantly, reaching out to pat the tentacles to show Nero they were safe.
"This is my little brother, Nero, and I'm Shylock." he told her with a nod.
The pride spawn thought for a second. "So, if you're his twin, that means your birthday's soon. Happy birthday."

Nero was still wary but if the tentacles didn't hurt Shylock they probbaly wouldn't hurt him and thus he allowed himself to be prodded a bit by an inquisitive one. This girl reminded him sort of of Hela except she was all the wrong colours and had feet. Regardless the beta boy frowned " I thought his sister was big?" Trinket was even smaller than Taylor.
Trinket grinned and shifted a bit on her skates " Taylor's told me about you too." Her brother really seemed to like these too so it was nice to meet them.
" We have the same birthday yeah but he's bigger now" she noted" and thanks."

Shy smiled a bit. "That happens sometimes. I have a few friends who ended up bigger than their elder siblings too cause they grow in spurts but their siblings don't." he commented. "Did you want to try skating with us some more?"

The purple haired girl nodded "Yes, I think it might be easier with friends" she could call them friends right? it was also nice to know she wasn't the only one who go left behind, still she was going to catch up someday she was sure of it.
Nero smiled and offered her a webbed hand, if they all held together then hopefully no one would fall down.

Shy was careful to skate in time with the others, instead of really pulling them. If he did that, the whole group would overbalance and they'd go splat - he'd seen it a few times with people rollerskating at Cirque and ice skating was harder so it probably happened there too, right? He smiled over at Nero and Trinket, trying to be encouraging.
"You guys are doing good." he assured them, looking ahead to keep from hitting anything, "We've gotta turn now, hang a little left okay?"

Both Nero and trinket nodded and somehow they managed to make the turn without face planting or ending up on their respective asses. Each was slowly getting the hang of things and a successful turn made both more confident.
Trinket giggled a bit in relief, this was getting better which each sliding step she took. Not as fun as ballet but nice still and she was starting to like the sound of the blades on the ice all around her.
Nero was waving his tail a bit and watching Shylock for the most part, the betta child having fun but still reliant on his older and wiser siblings for cues.
" How do we stop?" he asked suddenly realizing that not moving his feet would obviously not stop them from sliding across the ice anyways. He didn't want to stop just yet but he didn't know how to either.

"Well, first we slow down by not moving our feet as much to push us. Then when we're slow enough, we push down the little things on the front of our skates to stop." Shy explained, "Let's practice slowing okay, just so we know how to do it?" He'd seen them do that on TV before he'd learned how to practice it. And he'd fallen down a few times just learning.

Nero couldn't even see the little things his brother was talking about but he nodded anyways. being the lightest it was easy for him to just be pulled along by the weight of the other two and the momentum he'd already had going.
"Alright" Trinket agreed, it felt weird not to keep moving her feet but she was willing to trust the older boy's judgment.
