Lela was so not a morning person. She had to get out to work out this morning, as her personal trainer told her too. She swore up and down that it was torture and she did not need to get into shape. But she did run out of wind when she was running from her first group of fans. Who knew she'd have any? She did Christmas specials and was working on a CD, but it was odd. They'd seen her on Oprah, she supposed.
She sat outside a little cafe in her training outfit, a white sleeved shirt with a bright orange shorter shirt over it, a pair of sweat pants and jogging shoes. Her stomach was flat and showing, covered in a natural shine that all dark skinned people used to have. Her fingernails chipped and cracked with different colored paints. Her hair was thrown up in a messy looking pony tail, but it seemed to suit her face. She was texting on her phone to her manager, saying she wanted a day off. Her thumbs moved quickly over the keys; she'd taken to texting like any other girl from this country.
Before her sat a cup of coffee, still steaming and completely black. That was the only thing that got Lela out of bed this morning; the promise of this coffee. So she made a beeline over here when her trainer finally released her. Here she sat, every muscle in her body aching, looking like she had just completed a marathon. The rings around her neck were ever present, getting her stares from passers by, but what did she care? They knew nothing about them. Sure she had a long neck, but it mad her attractive in her own country.

Today simply wasn't Ana's day. The seven inch heel of her shoe had broke, providing an extremely awkward limp. She had tried to make it work, but ultimately had to take off the shoes and walk barefoot through the crowded streets of Los Demones, stepping in squashed wads of gum, puddles, bird s**t, and fallen splats of frozen yogurt.
She grouchily walked down the street, her feet covered in filth, distracting from her otherwise flawlessly fashionable attire. There was always a bright side - coffee. The sight of the coffee shop brightened her mood instantly as she rushed inside and ordered her obnoxiously complicated order of coffee. When she finally received it, she discreetly took her rhinestone-ridden flask and splashed some tequila into the drink and stirred. Sure, it tasted like crap, but it made the day a hell of a lot better.
She took her spiked coffee to the outside seating area and looked for a table for a place to sit, but alas, they were packed. However, in her scanning of the seats, she noticed a familiar face - Khahlela Umfula. Those neck rings were recognizable anywhere. Ana made her way over to Khahlela with a beaming smile. "Khalela?" she asked. Worried she might not be recognized covered in this much filth and without her usual grace, she felt the need to reintroduce herself "Its Ana! How are you? I haven't seen you in ages! Can I take a seat?"

She'd been staring obliviously into her glass in front of her, thinking about everything. About her journey here, about how she used to be a nobody but slowly becoming a recognizable icon within a different sort of pop genre. There was an absent smile on her face, her eyes looking soft, expression a bit dazed.
But, a voice snapped her out of her thoughts and she looked towards it. It was Ana! "Oh, wow, Ana! It has been some time, hasn't it?" She said taking in the model's appearance. It seemed Lela wasn't the only one having a bad day. Well, at least the two of them could look gross together. "You can sit if you want, I do not mind it! We could catch up, I have free time if you do," she said, smile never leaving her lips.
The last time she'd seen Ana was at the bar when they had both just started out. It seemed Ana's career took off without a hitch, she saw the model everywhere now a days. "You look like you have been through hell today as well... How have you been otherwise?"

"Fine," she grumbled, flopping into the chair with little grace. "I mean it was excellent," she corrected herself, not wanting to sound too grumpy. She took a large sip of the spiked coffee and smiled. Each sip made her day get just a little bit brighter. "I've been working a lot, but at the same time, doing a whole lot of nothing. Its been exhausting!" She supposed she didn't have too much room to complain. Even if she wasn't working, she would still be able to live a rather luxurious life living off daddy's inheritance. But that would only last her a while longer.
"Enough about me, how have you been?" she asked. It sure had been a long time since the two had met face to face and a lot has changed since then! Ana had won an award, Khahlela had made the news involving something with Lourdes Milton's dog, the attacker panic, the changes in the agency...it has been one crazy year!

A crazy year indeed. As Lela listened, she nodded and sipped her own cold coffee. She tried not to make a face, but she couldn't stand the taste. Flagging down a waiter, she ordered another cup of coffee and looked back to Ana with an apologetic smile. "I can say my day has been better than yours seems to have been..." She leaned over to look at Ana's feet and thought a moment.
"I am doing fine. Attempting to lose some weight and keep up my vocal career. It has been a very crazy time this year. Last year was so quiet.." A sigh came from light brown lips before she smiled again, a twinkle in her eye. "Say, Ana. Since we're both disgustingly gross, no offense? How about we go do some shopping. Someone told me it was ah..." She paused for the right phrase and nodded, "therapeutic after a hectic day?"
Really, she needed, no wanted to change her hair style and get some new clothes. She wanted to broaden her wardrobe to match her new songs she was working on.

"SHOPPING?!" Ana exclaimed. "Marry me?" In Ana's world, nothing was better than going shopping - and after her shoes broke, that sounds like the perfect cure. However, Ana's taste in going shopping was much more extravagant than the taste of most. She tended to shop by Rodeo Drive, buying all designer clothing that costs hundreds or even thousands of dollars per piece. But hey, its for the good of fashion, right?
But what if Khahlela can't afford to shop there? Would it be inappropriate for Ana to offer to pay? Ana didn't want to rub her wealth in Lela's face. Suddenly a bit uncomfortable, Ana took another large sip of drink to cool her nerves. "Where do you want to shop?"

A laugh came from her as Ana brightened considerably. Ah, the joys of being a woman and speaking the language of friends. Every single girl of any age loved shopping. It was coded into their DNA, a universal language.
Lela figured she knew what Ana was so hesitant about. The money issue. Well, Lela might not like the extravagant, but she could find one or two things at stores Ana shopped at. "Do not worry about it, Ana I've got some money saved up, so where you want to shop is fine. Besides, you look like you need it ASAP. Especially your poor feet..."
She looked towards Ana's dirty feet and sighed softly, a little frown upon her face. "Let me finish this coffee, and we can go, hm?" she asked, sipping on her cup. Honestly, a girls day sounded like something they could both use. "Besides, I doubt you would like where I shop. It is African based."

"African based?" Ana asked, doing her best to use her voice to mask her uncertainty. That isn't to say she wasn't interested - the idea of an African themed store intrigued her greatly - but she had never been to one or seen on in this area. "Perhaps we can swing by there later, there's nothing that says we can only go to one area!"
"Why don't we hit up the promenade? Its only three or four blocks south, we can walk over to there," she suggested, though she meant it to be less of a suggestion and more of an instruction. There was her favorite shoe store there and she really needed a new good pair of shoes. She took another sip of her spiked coffee and stood up, preparing to leave for a girl's day out.

Instruction or not, Lela laughed and nodded, polishing off her coffee before laying money down on the table for a tip and her bill. After that, she got up, gathered her purse and phone, and looked to Ana. "Why not take a cab? Your poor feet must hurt." She wasn't trying to be condescending or anything, it was an observation.
"Besides. In the cab, you can take your hose off and buy new ones at this store, right?" Lela could honestly say that she'd never been in that shoe store, but a pair of heels might be nice. She wasn't exactly the tallest.

"That sounds like an excellent idea," Ana smiled. A cab sure would be easier - if they could find one. The public transportation in Los Demones was horrible. Or perhaps Ana was so unfamiliar to it, she usually drove from place to place in one of her flashy sports cars.
Ana looked out into the street, trying to find a cab. Now, how was this done? You just wave your arm out and they stop? Ana waved her arm into the street calling for the taxi to stop, but it seemed to just keep going. Not thinking, she jumped into the middle of the lane waving both her arms, "Hey taxi!"
The taxi stopped inches before hitting her. "Well, it worked!" Ana teased, knowing thats not the proper way to hail a cab. She climbed into the back seat, leaving the door open for Lela as she gave the directions to the cab driver.

All Lela could do was watch in horror as Ana tried to hail a cab. Obviously she'd never done this before. Just how rich was she anyway? The question was unfiltered in her head, but she gave a bit of a laugh, climbing into the cab after Ana. Shaking her head, she listened to her earrings clink against her neck rings and then sighed softly. "Ana, you are one amazing woman." She really meant that.
When they got to the store Ana directed him too, she paid the cab driver before Ana could even think about doing it and waited for her to get out before closing the door. "You can buy new stockings here, can't you?" she asked, looking at the display in the window.

"Chica, if its a fashion item thats worth wearing in this world, they probably have it here," she said, not giving a clear cut answer and leaving out the part that anything found here is three to four times the price that it would be anywhere else. Now lets get some shopping done."
Ana entered the store and paused, as if taking in the moment of being presented by all the fantastic clothing for sale that surrounded her. Then, a moment later, she began to shop. Within a matter of seconds she had already pulled out six different pieces of clothing from the shelves including two pairs of shoes, a fur coat, a bag, a full length dress, and a minidress. After years of shopping experience, Ana knew just where to find what she wanted and what size would fit her best. She was in her own personal heaven. She smiled at Khahlela, hoping she'd have as much luck finding things as she had.

She had some luck. She found a pair of jeans she liked and a top and vest to go with it. Shoes, however, was a completely different story. Lela had an interesting fashion when it came to what clothed her feet. She was looking through a few dresses when Ana looked over to her and she offered a quiet smile back. "This is not a bad place. It has a few cu-" she got cut off when she saw a number of brightly colored shell necklaces that caught her attention. Quickly crunching numbers in her head, Lela went to the display and picked out a total of four of them and matching earrings. "This is a beautiful place."

Shell necklaces? Really? What was this, the 1990s? This girl certainly had a unique fashion taste. But she wouldn't dare criticize, she didn't want to come off as a fashion elitist! Ana faked a smile and laugh, "It is a beautiful place, isn't it?"
She made her way to the check out counter only a few feet away to get a break from carrying all the clothes. She flopped all the clothes onto the counter as the clerk began to ring up the price.
"That will be $3,675," the clerk said.
Stupid fur coats. Ana handed the clerk the card, but the clerk handed it back with a frown.
"I'm sorry, but your card has been declined. Would you like to try another card?"
Ana was shocked. DECLINED? This had never happened before. What went wrong? Ana quickly handed her a debit card which she knew had enough, but was only to be used in emergencies. And this was an emergency! She didn't want Lela to know about her financial issues - especially since she had just become aware of them herself!
The debit card worked, but Ana knew she only had just over a thousand left, so no more shopping sprees for her! Ana slipped on the pair of shoes, finally finding comfort (or at least, fashion) for her feet and shamefully moved away from the counter back to Lela, shopping bags in tow.

She noticed the fake smile, but Lela just shrugged. To each their own. She didn't like fur coats, but she'd never tell Ana that. It was probably a model thing, liking fur. Still, she continued looking around a bit more while Ana checked out and then moved up behind her after she paid. Khahlela, true to her nature, pulled out cash for her $600 dollar spending and she looked to the model with a happy smile.
"So... Is there anywhere else you would like to go?" Lela would never know about Ana's spending problems, because Lela was usually such a stickler for money. She needed a shopping spree for a long time now, to update her wardrobe a bit, and this had helped her out a ton. Plus, shopping with someone was always fun.
