This, my friends, is a fanfiction. Be forewarned for it contains an OC (original character) so if you dislike, no read. Easy as pie, yes? So before you even finish this sorry excuse of an introduction, leave the post and mind your own beeswax. Story: One-shot , Song-Fic Main pairing: Slight SeverusxOC Side pairing/s: Onesided SeverusxLily, implied JamesxLily Settings: Marauder Era, Hogwarts, Seventh year Author: Asher Gaith Lyrics: Serenade from Fruits Basket (katethegreat19's arrangement) Listen to the song once you reach the lyrics enclosed below, if you like. ----------- He was crying yet again, under that bowing tree near the lake. He almost broke down in the Common Room but he managed to bury it down. But something snapped when he saw her.
She was looking at him with adoration he yearned from her as she used to. She was talking to him as she used to. And she smiled at him as she used to.
But those days are gone now.
"I can't pretend anymore. You've chosen your way, I've chosen mine."
Now Potter replaced him from her heart, the heart he always longed for. And it's all thanks to himself. He had made a grave mistake on that fateful day 2 years ago. And she'd never forgive him.
Never.
That word seemed to completely break him as he sobbed his heart out in the night. He knew that he was breaking school rules, but he didn't care. He wanted out, to let it all out, to erase this excruciating pain and never wake up.
But he couldn't. It was the coward's way out. And he told himself that he's no coward.
|| Something delicate Special like the love we know My fragile heart beats at times secure and times alone My first treasure took me years to find It's what I cling to when confusion clouds my mind ||
Sighing, he calmed himself down and stared out the calm Black Lake, with the occasional ripple from the Giant Squid's shifting.
"Shouldn't you supposed to be in bed, Severus?"
The young man whipped his head so fast that it pained him, and looked at the shadowy form of Terra Covenant, a Gryffindor. Her soft voice tinkled like chimes in his ears.
Scowling, he turned back to the Lake to hide his teary face and to compose himself, "I could give you a detention for this, Covenant."
Her laugh wasn't mocking nor insincere. It's just... laughing. This lifted his spirit a bit, making the dim light grow brighter in his dark and stone cold heart. And it managed to confuse him.
"Leave me be, Covenant. I might not be able to tolerate your presence this time."
But she stayed and remained stubborn.
He felt a weight beside him and knew that it was her, staring at him with those bright emerald green eyes of hers. Brighter than her's.
|| When you come to me and you smile Suddenly I feel as if everything's okay Lost in your smile all at once I'm swept away. When trouble falls upon me like rain When the world becomes what they call a lonely place You carry me through From dreary skies the sun breaks through ||
"Tell me what happened," she asked softly to him, now gazing at the rippling Lake and watching one of the Giant Squid's tentacles flip out on the surface. And she listened to him, never interrupting. Besides, she's one of the people he treated equally, as a friend.
And she stayed loyal to him, though he knew she had a small crush on him. That didn't seem to change their friendship, other than the occasional flirting.
As he finished, she offered him silence, solitude. She knew how to make him comfortable, how to make him feel better.
Just as he was about to start the water works, he felt warmth all over. Looking down, he found Terra's fair hair against his shoulder, with his arms around her waist.
Without second thoughts, his arms wrapped around her small figure and pulled her tighter to him, sobbing against her shoulder.
|| When you're feeling lost and don't know what to do Just look and see me calling out to you And when you're shaking from winter wind upon your face I'll hurry towards you I'll warm you up with an embrace ||
As his tears subsided, he pulled away gently and wiped his eyes, taking the offered handkerchief from the Gryffindor by his side.
No words were exchanged, just mutual silence. Her hands were stroking his messy hair, pulling out knots and running her hand through his scalp.
Severus closed his eyes and leaned back to her, feeling at peace. Terra always said that letting it out and telling someone works, that it would help to cope with the pain.
She was right. Always.
Terra wiped the remaining tears from his cheek and placed a kiss on his pale forehead. Color started to come back in his face as he felt better, and released the bottled emotions in his heart.
|| Baby you can count on me Always and forever lost and right next to you Come with me I know it's worth to see it through Love can be a delicate thing true love has the power that's infinitely real Locking the heart With true emotions that you feel. ||
"So..."
Severus looked up at her with a raised eyebrow, without his usual Slytherin sneer.
The Gryffindor smiled at him and suddenly took his hand. Heat seemed to rise up his cheeks as he looked down at their holding hands then to her.
Her smile was bright, as well as the twinkle in her eyes. It almost suspiciously looked a lot like Dumbledore's if you looked closer upon it.
Warmth and comfort flooded his senses as he got lost in her eyes, how they looked like warm pool of early spring.
"So?"
"Good morning!" she perkily replied as she pointed up at the oranging skies.
They both watched the sunrise when something returned to them.
"Bloody hell, we should get back to our common rooms!"
Jumping in action, they quickly ran to the castle as her laugh resounded in the grounds. He joined in as they raced to their respective Houses without getting caught by anyone.
Someone up the castle stood watching the scenes unfold in his window, smiling a happy smile as he went back to his desk.
|| When trouble falls upon me like rain When the world becomes what they call a lonely place You carry me through From dreary skies the sun breaks through... ||

It's cute... Yet, there isn't much emotion in this one (Comparing to So Close...) But it's still good! XD
[Wondering who was watching? XD]

keichaos It's cute... Yet, there isn't much emotion in this one (Comparing to So Close...) But it's still good! XD [ Wondering who was watching? XD] You're wondering, yes? This one was made on the spot! xd I'm challenging myself to do something on-the-spot things, which I wasn't always good (especially when I was chosen to be a contestant in a contest in the Phil.), and I just realized, after reading this post, WAS SO HORRIBLE! Be honest now, it's horrible. I might make a remake of this. rofl

No, it's not that bad... It just lacks emotion compared to the first one you passed.

And me being the pessimistic and perfectionist idiot, I'd say this is quite bad.

It's not bad. I agree that So Close was better, but this still beats anything I could ever write. =]
