Name: Nadia Noel Sorensen

Age: 16

Birthday: October 29th

Sign: Scorpio

Blood Type: O

Fav. Food: Nadia likes salty tastes like chips, but she is also addicted to the unique crunchy texture of water chestnuts.

Hated Food: Mushy things like bananas, mashed potatoes, and overcooked vegetables

School: Meadowview (after being expelled from Crystal Academy)

Gemstone: Bloodstone

Hobbies:
Painting and drawing - Nadia got in trouble for drawing on her nursery room walls for the first time before she was even walking. She and her brother both were repeat offenders, too, until their parents finally caved and pasted large sheets of paper on the walls all the way around, after which point Nadia and Aidan spent years cheerfully filling the pages with drawings and paintings, replacing them when there was no room left. In spite of being estranged from her twin brother now, Nadia still loves to paint and draw, and still likes to do so on walls. In fact, she is now at Meadowview after an incident involving a mural that was deemed "vandalism" during her time at Crystal Academy. She does work that is both approved and not approved, sometimes involving spray paint on walls, though she does not consider herself a graffiti artist or a tagger. Since beginning at Meadowview, she has fallen in with the drama department doing work painting sets, but so far, that remains her only contribution - Nadia has considered trying out for an acting role, but so far has not actually gone out and auditioned yet.

RPGs - Nadia loves fantasy and all sorts of imaginary things. Reading books about it is all well and good, but she really likes to feel like part of the story. She does a fair amount of gaming both online and on consoles, but while she does not consider herself a "gamer chick", she usually has a DS or a PSP on hand with some JRPG in it for dull moments. She has also recently gotten hooked on World of Warcraft, particularly the roleplay servers ... which has caused her grades to slip somewhat the last semester, but hey, she has to do something for her fantasy addiction, right? Deep inside, she likes the escape from reality - she grew up with the world she and her brother were drawing, and now, without that, she tries to fill the void. Fortunately, there is no end of content for that. Nadia throws herself into fantasy worlds like a whale leaping up out of the water - for the fun and thrill of it, but she knows she has to come back down eventually.

Gossiping - Though she is not quite nosy, Nadia still likes to keep up with the social scene at school. She just likes to know what all her friends and enemies are up to, and besides, the information might come in handy at some point. It might not be such a good idea to partner up with the girl in English class who is breaking up with her boyfriend, since her mind will be on other things. On the other hand, maybe Nadia could do something nice for her outside of class to cheer her up ... and maybe earn a favor sometime in the future. And on the flip side, better not act too familiar with the guy for a little while, just to be sure she does not inadvertantly make the issue worse!

---

Virtues:
Wouldn't it be cool if we did this? And this? - In spite if falling out with her twin brother, thereby ending the ongoing fantastical story they were illustrating on the walls of their shared room, Nadia still embraces her brilliant imagination. For her own benefit, she takes art electives whenever she can, and even took a math class over the summer just to free up a slot in her schedule this year for an extra painting course. Now at Meadowview, she is involved in set design, building, and painting with the drama department, and eagerly adds her input to discussions of how to go about decorating for the school drama productions. She has also been looking at securing a spot on the student council for her grade level so that she can have some say in decoration plans for school dances and events, too. Even if a friend is just asking Nadia for help deciding on red versus blue balloons for a birthday party, that friend will probably leave the conversation with two or three ideas for entire themes for the occasion, and you can bet that any final product of a group project involving Nadia is going to be nice-looking at the very least.

Diplomacy is the art of telling someone to go to hell in such a way that he looks forward to the trip - Nadia is out with the girls trying on dresses for the school dance, and ... one of their friends has managed to find the most heinous rag on the racks. Problem is, the girl is posing in front of the mirror, gushing about how gorgeous all the crustings of sequins are, and how she cannot wait to find the perfect pair of shoes to match the dress. They need someone to let the poor girl know that the dress does not do anything good for her at all without upsetting her, and Nadia is generally the best choice for the job. In keeping up with the gossip around school as well as she can, she knows how to choose her words with the aim of keeping situations calm and people happy. This is a skill she finds particularly helpful with criticism sessions in her art classes, but Nadia practices tact with her friends and acquaintances outside of academic and artistic matters, too. That said, there is no guarantee at all that Nadia can completely prevent the other party from getting upset or angry; she is just one of the better people for the job of breaking hard news in the nicest way possible.

But I can't just throw that out! - Those faded grey threads around Nadia's wrists were once colorful friendship bracelets that she received from friends in middle school; she has never taken them off. When she was little, Nadia's grandma hand-knit her and Aidan matching sweaters for Christmas, and the only reason she did not wear hers until it fell apart was because she outgrew it first. Gifts and things mean a lot to her, even little things, and she could never throw any of them away. All the cards Nadia has ever received are nestled away in a box that was a gift from her father, and she has another treasure box filled with other trinkets and such from friends and family, and she even remembers the stories behind all but the very earliest of gifts, too. And though she does not bring up her brother to anyone now, the pair of old chopsticks that Nadia now wears in her hair once belonged to Aidan, and are really her only outward sign that she at least treasures the memories of their childhood before they stopped talking to each other.

---

Flaws:
Shallow romantic - Nadia is totally into dating, and she knows that she ultimately wants to marry a guy who will sweep her off her feet and be an amazing prince for her. She has that all planned out. Unfortunately, the details of what, exactly, she is looking for in a guy to qualify him as an "amazing prince" is not something she has thought on anywhere near as much. As a result, she falls into and out of love quite a bit. It also means that Nadia is all to quick to call "love at first sight" when she meets a guy, and any favorable reaction from a boy is liable to be misconstrued as reciprocated romantic feelings - if any male wishes to be "just friends" with Nadia, it will take patience and time to wait for her to get past the initial stage where she thinks he is the only one for her. Unfortunately for Nadia, with how many supposed dates and boyfriends she has had already in high school, she may have also attracted a bit of a, uh, reputation.

Why didn't you invite me? - An extrovert through and through, Nadia thrives on the company of others. If something goes down and she is not involved, though, she can get pretty upset. Generally if other circumstances prevent her from going along on some social excursion, then she can deal with it, but when she is particularly stressed out, Nadia might rather her friends not go to the movies at all because she has a project to finish than go without her because she is busy. Her frustrations when she is unable to monopolize her friends' time usually manifests in crabbiness or silent treatment for a day or so, but Nadia usually recovers from such perceived slights fairly quickly. Either that, or she gets back at the offender by delving into work on theater things or murals when she can, because look at how much fun she can have without her friends coming along, too. Friends who never seem to be able to hang out with Nadia do not remain friends for long, but otherwise she bounces back from upset fairly quickly ... people who know her for a while probably learn not to talk about plans and events with her around, though, unless she will be able to come along, too.

Catty - Going along with Nadia's skill in courtesy, she also knows when and how to be completely untactful to her advantage. If the girl who thinks she looks like a princess in the ugly dress is not a friend but someone who has slighted Nadia in the past, she would exact her revenge in words. A casual but cutting remark about her weight, in front of several people on the night of the dance, perhaps, or a choice bit of juicy gossip to plant the seed of a rumor. Words are Nadia's choice weapon socially, and her habit of keeping on the cutting edge of who is saying what about whom ensures that she has a very potent arsenal.

You boys are all alike! - In spite of her many and varied relationships with boys, the truth remains constant with all of them: Nadia has great difficulty trusting anything with a Y chromosome. Her dating relationships are generally short-lived, generally leave her emotional for a while when they end, and end hard because Nadia has difficulty getting to know a guy in more than a superficially romantic way. She can build friendships with males, but it takes the usually fairly social girl a long time to really open up to male friends, particularly if they had dated once before and broken off the relationship. Nadia tends to perceive any bumps in the road with a boy as betrayals on his part, even if it is obvious to everyone else that the shortcoming was all hers. And as far as male authority figures go, she can deal with them just fine, but still remains somewhat reluctant to get very close to them; Nadia is much more comfortable and at ease with female teachers and friends.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes - Dark golden yellow and almond shaped, usually decorated with a bit of eyeshadow.

Hair - Coarse and navy blue, done up in zig-zag cornrows turning to braids that hang down to her shoulders. She will sometimes decorate the braids with plastic beads at the ends, and when she is doing a lot of painting work, Nadia wears a bandana over her hair.

Face - Heart-shaped with slightly pudgy cheeks. Her forehead looks a little big because all of her hair is pulled back, away from her face. Her skin is a dark mahogany-tone.

Body - Pear-shaped with a healthy bit of fat on her ... for her height. Nadia is a bit shorter than average, but does not resent that anywhere near as much as the fact that she still fits into the same bras she did in middle school.

Nadia Noel and Aiden Leon were both born on October 29th, Nadia preceding her brother by about seventeen minutes. Their well-to-do parents furnished them with a nursery together - a round room on one corner of the house that was painted half pink and half blue. From the beginning, brother and sister were impossible to separate, and their mother and father fostered this by constantly dressing the twins in matching outfits. Nadia and Aiden quickly discovered a love for drawing ... by starting with crayons on their walls. Scolding did nothing to deter this, and their parents finally caved and hung paper on the walls of the nursery for the children to happily fill with drawings of the magical worlds they invented together. As they grew up, a story started to form that proceeded clockwise around the room, and when they reached the beginning, they just hung more paper and continued in a spiral. The twins were home-schooled for their primary school years, and then attended the same private middle school, and though they both grew into their own people, their love for art remained, and they continued their little story around and around their room.

When the time came for high school applications, however, Aidan stepped up and voiced his desire to attend a prep school in another city for aspiring architects and graphic designers. Nadia of course knew that her brother would not be able to attend Crystal Academy with her, but his desire to leave Destiny City completely for school took her by surprise - what about their relationship? Their silly story that went around their room, that had helped keep them both sane through the social craziness of middle school? It had not even been a possibility in her mind that she and Aidan would ever grow apart. Aidan responded to her upset by explaining that he wanted to keep up his artistic hobbies, but that he needed to learn practical applications for them to make a living in the world - sure, it would be wonderful to be a painter or an artist for a game or comic book for a profession, but he wanted to have something much more solid and practical.

Tensions between the twins mounted as they prepared and sent their prep-school applications, finally culminating in Aidan telling Nadia that she had to grow up, and that she could not do so as long as she still clung to all the silly fantasies of their childhood. Nadia was shocked and felt utterly betrayed by this - that her precious twin brother could so easily blow off the games and stories that had been theirs and theirs alone for so long. She did not speak a word to Aidan for the entire summer before he went off to boarding school an hour and a half away to study architectural drawing; she decided that she would continue her art and her fantasy and succeed anyway, just to spite Aidan and prove him wrong, but the damage had already been done.

Now, in high school, Nadia remains a romantic with her head in the clouds, but is always vigilant for threats to her dreams. The dating scene provides her with an outlet for her need to share something secret and beautiful with another guy, but she may be trying too hard to find a replacement brother rather than someone with whom she can form an actual romantic relationship. And her bitterness that results from her perceived betrayal from her brother makes Nadia prone to viciousness with her words - she and her brother knew each others' weaknesses like their own and tore each other apart in their arguments before Aidan left for high school elsewhere, and Nadia has adopted that strategy in dealing with other people she does not like.

The falling out between Nadia and Aidan broke her heart, but she rarely, if ever, talks about it. Instead, she tries to remain in the past, but at the same time, consciously or not, pierces the armor of others who upset her in the same way that her brother pierced hers.

Enemy of the Phalanx formation

The Breach destroys the Phalanx Formation, the shield-wall of soldiers marching slowly in perfect time and bristling with spears for the perfect defense. However, Nadia is not a destroyer, she is a creator. She paints and invents worlds of fantasy, errs on the side of friendliness when she meets others with the aim of building bonds, and, for better or for worse, dreams up perfect romances with every guy she dates. This is still detrimental to the phalanx, though - the formation relies on uniformity of a group, with every man carrying the same shield and spear, moving at the same pace, and each one holding his particular spot in the group.

Nadia's artistic eye makes her a threat to uniformity. She approaches situations looking for how they can be improved upon, decorated, made more elaborate, or changed. In working with a group such as the Cavaliers, the instinct from Nadia will be to innovate, and she may be prone to doing things that are not a part of the grand plan, either because she sees her way as easier, better, or more efficient, or to adapt to whatever situation is going on at that moment. While she will hardly be the rebel who never follows orders, stricter superiors may grow frustrated with Nadia's not following orders exactly.

At worst, her adding twists and innovation to plans may risk the uniformity of operations in a way that harms the overall plot, like a single member of a phalanx breaking formation and thereby risking the entire unit. At best, though, Nadia's creativity and desire to make things unique and her own may be able to aid her unit of Cavaliers when they become mired in their uniformity.

Haruka mukashi no watashi e
Ten two one zero! Take off!

As a Cavalier, having a Prince to follow will be Nadia's dream come true. She will be all too willing to follow him and serve him, and the senshi to whom she is attached is likely to be seen as a necessary step to winning the Prince's favor. She is probably equally likely to plug into any of the Cosmos senshi, and serve that senshi with fierce loyalty but not much enthusiasm. Nadia as Caelum would likely at least think she would prefer pairing with a girl, as being asked to "babysit" another boy on behalf of the Prince might annoy her, but there would be potential for jealousy if she did partner with another lady. Romance between Nadia and her senshi would be extremely slow to develop, if it happens at all. A boy senshi would likely be romantically ignored in favor of the Prince (though this might provide a prime opportunity for Nadia to build an actual friendship with a male), and a girl senshi would likely have to be pretty persistent to attract Nadia's attention as more than a friend. With any luck, though, over time, she will become more enthusiastic about the actual group dynamic, rather than seeing it as an essential but not necessarily pleasant part of the job.
