I've been browsing the commissions auctions place on here, and every so often I come across an art thief, more often that I should, a lot more often.
I take great pride in finding the original piece and contacting the artist.
I'd say it's not as bad if people claim it to be their art, but it's when they profit off a s**t quality tracing of a wonderful original piece.
1. Find cool art 2. Print 3. trace 4. ??? 5. Profit
Special step six is get shown up and possibly fined if I can get personal information on them and the original artist. It's most fun when it's art of someone I've actually talked to.

******** no, the fact that I got an e-mail from the original artist telling me he was indeed an art thief, but I've done nothing about it proves I'm in it to make me feel big.

I'm not afraid to admit I've stolen stock from some folks at deviantart for my lame picture edits, but I don't think that'd be considered art thievery. Either way, I think of it this way. If you really want a piece of art that bad, why not learn how to do it yourself and make your own personalized piece, or have the person commission you one so you can show it off?
Just stealing art to say you have skills is no more justified than stealing a candy bar so you can say you had the money to buy it. To me its not about stealing art for the artwork and appreciation of the piece, its about being able to say you have something that you created with your own two hands through hard work, when in fact you've done nothing more than a petty theft.
Pretty pathetic to me, besides, if you were stealing it for the art quality, it would be pointless because The picture would not be of you nor related to any image that you may have wanted it to be related to.
