Even as a pup, Flame had never enjoyed the winter months like some of her siblings did. Where they found snow and ice and new areas of play, she found a depressingly drastic change of landscape. The trees leaves, felled and trampled underfoot from autumn now left scraggly branches that failed to brush a groomy sky. The ground was cold and ungiving, ready to trip up all those but the most nimble of foot. The landscape was devoid of the chittering birds and small animals of summer and spring, replaced only by the sound of cold wind and cracking ice.

With a visible shiver, the bush-fire of a wolf moved down a small incline, paws stretched and body tense of it's slippery properties. She'd fallen several times already today, and small bruises under her skin just added to the naked humiliation across her face. She felt so vulnerable out here, even more so after her meeting with Tada! Being bright against a dull pallet was bad enough, but misery loved company.

Leg shaking the wolf chanced another step down the hill. "I wish it were spring." Flame's voice was soft, but loud to her in the silence.

User ImageAs a pup, Meru was never well liked. Sure her family loved her, but that didn't mean they liked her. She was the odd one who stood by herself and played with random objects, always running away from anyone who approached her. Now she had a reason too. Bad relationship gone wrong when she lost a litter of pups. All four were stillborn. It broke her heart completely and her mate didn't take it very well. She was scared up from nose to tail if one looked close enough.

Blue violet eyes looked upon the winter wonderland about her, her heart was breaking faster, but she refused to cry. Meru sat in the middle of two hills, looking at for little trees that were growing; they were but twigs, but they would bloom. "Just like they should have.." Her voice cracked and broke hard and a hitched in her throat. Her breathing became deep, one could tell by the swirls of air around her. It was cold the promise of snow hug in the air, but she didn't care. Meru wanted to curl up right here and be with them. Her dead pups. Three boys and her one little girl. None of them whimpered, none of them moved.

Her mate didn't even give her a chance to clean them up before he started tearing into her. Verbally and physically abusing her. She was wary of males. Wary of everything. The ache in her heat grew worse as she heard a voice. Oh, how she didn't want anyone here right now. Tears had slipped silently, without her knowing. She was crying and she didn't want anyone to see. The blue female turned her back towards the voice, laying down next to those little twigs of trees and breathed a heart wrenching sob.

With measured steps the female made it down the steep hill, though even in the crackling, brown grass her paw pads were nipped by cold. Her ears flickered backwards at the sharp sensation, cautiously lifting a paw from the grass. Stiffening suddenly, body shuddering softly, she looked towards the noise. To the wolf the sob was taken only for a deep, choked noise. It could've come from anything out here.

Bi-coloured eyes glancing about, Flame took a sliding step towards it, head lowered. From any other noise the shy female would've hurried away, but she had spent quite the morning trying to scale that hill and besides. This thing didn't sound harmful. Just....sad, almost.

A soft, high whine rumbled from her throat as she caught sight of the pastel-pelted thing against the ground. Body tensed, Flame waited for reply. Already her ears were beginning to thrum the first signs of adrenaline, reason and past experience telling her that seeking out answers brought nothing but ill. Was it hurt? She wouldn't be able to stand if it was dead, whatever was lying there. No, under her furrowed brow the wolf could see a chest rising and falling.

The whine caused her tears to stop for a moment and her ears to perk. Meru even went so far as to raise her head and turn it. That's when she saw the pretty female. Oh, that is who her old mate would have liked. After Meru, he always went for darker ones, ones that looked weak so he could push them around. She got up, slowly, and cleared her throat. This wasn't a good way to start the day. To have an unknown female stumble upon her crying, broken form. There were stained patches of blood on her fur, indicating she hadn't bathed in a while, there were tear tracks down both of her cheeks, and one side of her face was muddy from where she'd been laying down.

All together, she looked quite pathetic and small. "......C-can... I help you?" she asked through broken sighs and squeaked words. Damn crying always did that to her.

She stiffened as the broken beast lifted its head, and too her shock and awe it was not just some animal, but a wolf. A female at that. Both green and blue eyes lingered on her disheveled coat, and though it broke her heart she couldn't meet the other wolf's gaze, turning her head away.

"I-I'm sorry....I didn't mean to disturb you."

Flame knew it would be a damn fool and a worse wolf to leave that poor creature alone and just bypass her altogether, but her heart fluttered unsteadily in apprehension. It looked like she was hurt, and as much as it would pain her not to help, what if whatever did that came after her?

She saw the other stiffen and then looked to the side before looking back at her. This other wolfess was a pretty shade of orange and black. Meru hadn't seen her colors before. But she looked friendly. Something in the pastel wolfess wanted a companion; someone to call a friend. "....You're not.... I mean.. D-disturbing me. I'm M-Meru..." She sniffled out, trying her hardest to give a smile. Maybe talking will help her forget everything.
