Accessible to only the royals who know the right words, the Meditation Garden has its own secrets. Besides being a lush array of exotic plants, the garden is the perfect place to see what is going on inside or outside the realm.

Stepping through the hanging reeds of the Meditation Garden, Kahn brushed the green vines out of his face and walked around the circular pond in the center. He took up a place on the soft ground near the pond as he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Letting himself slip into the spirit world, Kahn began to whisper aloud, "I call forth from the other world the spirit who spoke to me moments ago in the Dragon Ballroom. Come, and explain yourself to me."

"They may not let him return to talk to you, Kahn," a voice purred from near his shoulder.

Opening his eyes and turning slightly, Kahn rested his gaze on a young-looking woman with dark hair and bright blue eyes. His mouth opened slightly as he gasped in surprise, but it was soon replaced with a grin as he moved from his seated position to stand beside the woman. "Nar.....what are you doing here? How did you get in?"

"I'm only here in your spirit world, Kahn," Narssissuss replied, tossing her long dark hair back over one shoulder and smiling at the dragon prince. "You called to me from afar, and I came to protect you."

"So you were the spirit from before?"

"No, but I removed the one that was. He had escaped from where he was being held, so I was sent to retrieve him before he did any damage to the world you live in."

"I see...." Kahn purred, some color crawling into his cheeks as he smiled with the thought of her protecting him. "Thank you."

"For what?" Narssissuss questioned as she rested her chin on one of her hands as the elbow of her arm rested on her other crossed arm.

"For saving me from that spirit. He spoke of dark things that made me...."

"Spirits are not to be trusted. You can never be sure whether they speak truth or lies," the female vampire smiled as she drew closer to the dragon prince.

"And how do I know I can trust you? You are just a spirit here in this world."

"Would I ever give you a reason to doubt me?" she smiled innocently, showing her vampire teeth as she did.

Grinning and deepening in color, Kahn nodded and drew the spirit in his arms. "Of course you never would. I trust you with my life."

"Or what remains of it, but we shall leave that conversation for when we next meet. I must return to my own time and place now before something happens. Farewell for now, Kahn," Narssissuss purred as she pressed a kiss on Kahn's cheek before disappearing.

Blinking and becoming very warm, Kahn grinned and sighed softly to himself as he sat back down. He slipped into a daydream state as his happy mood returned from earlier. I wait for that time..... he thought quietly to himself as he spaced out in happy thoughts.

Pulling away in pain, Hathern came plopping into the gardens. Flipping onto his back he spoke an odd tongue and hands as well as the creatures that were attached to them sizzled and dissipated from view. Laying down he took some deep breaths before looking about. "Kahn... you here?" He asked as he ran a hand over his face.

Snapping back to reality, Kahn twisted his neck to look for the source of his name. He found the caller lying a few feet away and he had to blink a couple of times to make sure it was whom he thought it was. "Hathern? Is that you?" he questioned as he crawled closer to the man on the ground.

{baha! I feel successful... I remember the number for this color.. hehe}

Taking in a deep breath, Hathern let it out as he removed his hands from his face. Looking up he saw Kahn. "There you are boy! Damn you are one hard gi-" Hathern sat up, a bit tense. Looking the boy over he gave a sound of annoyance. "You didn't take my warning did you?" His eyes narrowed in disappointment.

"I want an explanation before I heed anything," Kahn growled as he glared at Hathern. He sat back and waited for an explanation on why he should avoid the only thing that has brought joy into his life. "There better be a good explanation for me not to be around her. And proof. I have no reason not to trust her at this point in time."

Hathern gave a sigh. "Obviously you have yet to read far enough into the book to get to the most important part of a shaman's history. Thats what the book is, it is a guide to becoming a shaman Kahn. Shamans are givers, they help and present aid and protection when it is needed. But on the other side of the scale are the reapers, formally known as takers." He looked away as he gave a rub to his side. Looking down he was starting to disipate himself. "Great... Look I am running out of time, I can only be away for so long. But the basics of this is, that woman is a taker. She has a tangible form, and has yet to reach the reaper status, but is still a taker. She has been for a long time. If you are still around her, then do not show her the book, do not even mention my name." He leaned in closer. "But be warned that she will devour you Kahn. As Takers hunt the givers, and feast on their essences." Standing up, he looked down at the boy. "I must leave, but please understand that this is not to destroy that false feeling of happiness she leaves you with, but to protect the only other giver I have ran into in the past four centuries." He gave a shake of his head as he let his form disappear from view.

Kahn blinked and took in what Hathern stated as the figure faded from view. A....a reaper? Taker? And I am to become a Shaman? A Giver? he thought to himself as he sat quietly, reviewing what he had just been told. Hathern's words struck him hard as he thought about what was said. But Nar's words rang out in his mind, and he shook his head softly and whispered aloud, "Just a spirit from the other side. What if you are wrong, and she is only another lost creature like I?" He stood up and walked around the pond, heading for the exit. He stopped for a moment and called out in case Hathern could hear, "I need more information before I can make a decision. Therefore her truth holds over yours for now." With that he stepped back through the reeds and into the outside garden.

Stepping into the garden once more, Kahn moved slowly across the ground and rested softly by the pool across from the entrance to the garden itself. He took out the Book of Shamans and laid it before him, opening it to one of the pages and looking up at Nar. "Do I need to summon the spirit, or can you do that yourself?" he grinned cheekily, knowing the answer already.

"It is a spirit you yourself have met before, but if you tried to summon him you would be out of luck. He is locked away in the spirit world and I am one of few who can release him," she stated as she sat down across the pool from Kahn and drew out her own book of sorts. It seemed almost the same as the Book of Shamans, but it was darker in color and seemed to have a red hint about it, unlike the blue hint around the shaman book. She set it before her and flipped through the pages before reading aloud from the book.

Kahn could feel the air around them drop deathly silent as the powerful words were read. He watched Nar's form change as she slid into a reaper form and used her powers to summon the spirit from beyond. She is summoning Hathern, he is the only spirit I have met who was a Shaman, he thought quietly to himself as he breathed deeply and closed his eyes while he waited.

{Woot! I still remember the color code. XP}

With words being chanted out of the reapers book, Hathern could feel his spirit being pulled to the voice in which called him. Coming out of the waters, his bound form rested on top. Gasping as being drawn in such a condition was harsh on his spiritual form, Hathern leaned on his knees. His face was binded so he could not see, his arms held tight behind him by a set of highly defensive clasps, and his ankles were tied together in a similar way. On top of all of that, several markings not of his own were laid across his body. Everything was needed to keep him in a containment, in the grasps of a reaper.

Smirking at the sight of the shaman in such a weak condition, Narssissuss reached out and touched the form of the man before them. "Hathern of the Shamans, I hereby release you from your binds both here and in the spirit world in hopes that your services will be of use to us," she stated aloud as she withdrew her hand from the spirit before them. Slowly the bindings from around Hathern disappeared into nothingness, leaving only the spirit form of Hathern in the pool before them.

Opening his eyes to watch the spectacle, Kahn was amazed at what state Hathern was in. He could sense the weakness within the spirit before him and he flipped through the pages of the shaman book before mumbling something under his breath. He could feel part of his energy be pulled away from his body and transferred to the spirit before him. He hoped it would work on spirits as it did on physical beings.

Dropping down to the waters, Hathern caught himself with his own hands. Feeling the given energy from a positive source, he looked up and saw Kahn with Narssissuss. He gave a groan as he shifted so he sat down. Rubbing his wrists, he kept his eyes on the reaper, irritation sat upon his face.

Chuckling and flashing her teeth, Nar beamed with amusement at the spirit. "So, we meet again, Hathern. Tell me, how has life been treating you in the spirit world?"

"Nar," Kahn hissed at the reaper as he moved closer to Hathern and helped him out of the waters of the pond. Taking off his cloak he draped it over the spirit to warm him up.

Still grinning, Nar commented again, "I'm sorry, I forgot we had company. How are you feeling now that your binds are gone?"

Hathern let Kahn lead him out of the waters and over to the side. And as the boy let him have his coat he knew the lady had yet to change the young dragon, or at least enough to be noticeable. "Thank you, Kahn.." He said quietly before he turned back to the reaper. "Letting me go isn't reaper like at all, Narssissuss. After such a claim, no sane reaper would let it go." He kept his eyes on the woman as he gave a slight shiver, after which he tightened the coat around him.

Nar grinned and replied, "consider it a change of heart, then. Kahn needs your guiding light more than the spirit eaters need to be fed." She closed the reaper book and slid it back into her own hiding place before stretching out and replying softly, "this can be permanent if you promise to behave yourself. Maybe you can even find out where your bones are buried and restore yourself." She chuckled softly to herself at the last thought.

Kahn nodded to Hathern and then asked, "was there a hierarchy of Shamans back in the day like there are of Reapers today?" So many questions for one person, but Kahn knew not how long Hathern would be able to stay in the garden.
