It was one of those weird days. He had once, long ago, recalled being in this very same pharmacy but talking to a certain woman about something of concern about her. Onuris found that he thought of her a lot though he hadn't really seen or heard of her since and that gave him an odd feeling, a bad feeling, an unsettled feeling. He filled his shopping basket with gauze and tapes to protect himself from his routines with the rapiers he performed with. Onuris stared at another carton of gauze before he plopped that in there as well and began to move his way to the register with all the mindfulness of a zombie at the moment. His mind was suddenly filled with the thoughts of Neveah and he couldn't help it, and of course the other woman he had pursued as well, grumpy and temperamental but she seemed gone too.
Perhaps that was his fate.
He needed to get home soon and spend time with Nell and Metis, he had left the two 'sisters' alone to spend time together and get to know each other and for the most part they got along. Onuris was glad for that part at least. He paused at the 'last minute' aisle where there were candies to buy and little doodads.
Would Nell like something from here? Maybe.

Anethae was, for the first time in her life on Gaia, feeling a little...gross. Her head felt funny, her nose was leaking sometimes and she kept coughing until her throat felt like she had swallowed barbs! There was nobody in the house to tell her what to do about it; the dark boy, Zasalamel, had moved away with some black haired fox-thing, and the deer twins had been taken back to their place of origin, called back by some mysterious force. Her home was empty, and there was nobody to ask.
Well, aside from wikipedia. Wikipedia always helped her out, and helped her discover this time that she had a 'cold', which was odd because she wasn't cold at all. Quite warm, actually. Wikipedia directed her to a website that told her to get some medicine from the store, so that's what she was doing.
By the time she got there she couldn't remember what kind of medicine she was told to get, and just spent about a half an hour reading the boxes until she found something that would work. Her angled and almond shaped blue eyes lifted when a red headed man walked past the aisle...and something deep within her stirred. Curiousity piquing, Thae put down the box she was holding and stalked him quietly, peeking around the corner while he looked through an aisle of sweets.
She knew this man...she could feel it, the connection. But it wasn't she that recognized him, it was the poor soul she had taken over. How she knew him was the greater connundrum. She could only feel the strength of the emotion, but she didn't know if he was a friend or if he was family, or perhaps a lover of sorts; she just knew he was mildly important, and she knew she had to express her sympathies to him.
"...Excuse me, Sir?" Thae said quietly, merely trying to get his attention by stepping fully into the aisle now, heading towards him. The woman looked so much like Neveah with a few exceptions; her antennae was shorter, her hair was red fading to orange, she had no wings and she had a blue gem embedded on her forehead. But other than that? She was a dead ringer for the now deceased woman.

He wrestled with his new thought, gnawed on it more or less, when a voice suddenly caught his attention. Was she talking to him? Probably most women talked to him though he wasn't certain how much effort he should put into being charming anymore if at all. Onuris hadn't exactly lost hope at all he just stopped trying to lure pretty young women toward him like the proud strutting peacock that he was 'born' to be. Instead he just let the girls go and watched them go with little more than faint smile and a tilt of the head with a small voice going 'I could have had that if I really wanted it'.
Now he didn't know what he wanted at least not for sure.
Onuris turned to face the woman to give her his attention and all of the sudden he momentarily forgot how to breathe, he did a sudden intake of breath and then he stared at her for a long moment. She looked like the young woman he had thought of earlier with minor differences, certainly, but still similar enough to make him pale a little as if he had seen a ghost.
"Y..Yes?" He tried to smile but it faltered a bit in it's delivery due to his surprise.

Anethae stopped in her tracks when he stared at her, her almond shaped blue eyes wide with surprise. A new sensation filled her then, something deep in her heart tightened. With a blush she looked away from him, her hands clasping behind her back in a surprisingly shy move. Crap, so maybe this guy wasn't family.
"D-Did you know someone named 'Neveah'?" She questioned after gathering herself back up, squashing those pesky feelings that were most certainly not hers. "Um...blue-to-black hair, long antennae, may or may not have had big butterfly wings?" The doppleganger tried to explain Neveah without using the obvious 'looks a lot like I do now' sort of thing.

He had noted the blush and raised an eyebrow a tad but said nothing to her about it mostly because she looked away. Onuris, as cocky as it sounded, was used to women doing that around him amongst other things he turned go gaze back at the candy before he reached out and grabbed a couple while he waited for the woman to finish telling him what she wanted.
When she spoke it was all he could do to hold onto his basket and his face paled just a little more, the name struck a blow mostly because he was JUST thinking of Neveah not even a few moments prior and here was this woman that looked similar and described Neveah he knew pretty accurately, the last time he had met the woman of interest, however, she lacked wings. The idea that something like that would happen to her still upset him even though it was long ago, his heart felt as if it was going to thump its chest all of the sudden. The beat within his chest was erratic but he took a moment to take a deep breath before he replied as coolly as he could, "Yes, I knew her. She was ... a friend of mine."
They hadn't exactly had the chance to go beyond friendship though he wanted to he just wasn't sure how she felt; it was amongst his list of regrets now that he thought about it. The more he stared at this woman the more he had to know, "Are you her sister or something?" He had a bad feeling about this exchange though he couldn't quite name why.

A pause, and then claiming her a friend. Most suspicious; it added to Thae's little fluttering heart that told her it was deeper than that; maybe not more than inner feelings, but certainly deeper. It was honestly as pesky as the little 'cold' she seemed to have acquired. "...'Or something', yes." Thae repeated quietly, her hands clasping behind her back and her almond shaped eyes merely observing him. There was no tactful way to say 'She's dead but not really because I stole her soul, nice to meet you', was there? Damnit. The red haired woman sneezed a bit, luckily tilting her head away from the male just in the nick of time.
"I...guess I am trying to say that Neveah, as you knew her...is dead." Even though she hadn't tried to 'say' anything before. Not out loud anyway, but it didn't matter anymore. "Um...her soul is still alive, kind of, but She's...not here...anymore." It was a lame explanation, but there wasn't any other way to put it right now. "I am very sorry for your loss." What else was there to say? She didn't want to tell him right off the bat that she was the one who effectively finished the Butterfly woman off.

He had watched her after the candy was put in the basket, his golden gaze focused only on her as she spoke and went about telling him what was apparently on her mind and needed to telling him. For a moment his face went blank, his arms went limp and the basket fell with a loud clatter. He was too shocked for tears even if he wanted to cry right there in the store. Sure she was still 'alive' in a matter of speaking from what this woman said but that didn't seem to lessen the impact any for the red haired man.
Onuris opened his lips to respond but instead there was an odd outcry (the call of a peacock), an explosion of crimson feather, and there before the woman stood a red feathered peacock that was staring at her with as much disbelief, horror, and sorrow as a bird with limited range of facial expressions can manage.
People around them, naturally, now stared.

Anethae jumped a bit when the basket was dropped, her gaze widening and focusing on the man, who looked like he'd seen a ghost or something. Which was...more or less true. Her gaze shot back up to his face when she heard a...rather odd noise. Was that...him? An expolsion of feathers came next, making the woman jump back with a little cry, her eyes wide with surprise.
"...Wh-What the hell?!" Thae gasped out, looking around her as if waiting for someone to jump out and say 'GOTCHA!'...but nobody did. So this...was real? The pretty red haired man turned into a flamboyantly red bird? Something in the back of her mind told her she really shouldn't be surprised...but she most certainly was!
"Um...Um..." s**t! What to do, what to do?! Biting down on her lip, she danced nervously from one foot to the other until a sudden thought donned on her; they should just leave the store! Kneeling down, and scooped up his clothes as he obviously could not, blushing out of both illness and embarrassment. "F-follow me!" She stuttered out then, turning around and running out of the store with his clothes in tow, holding the door open for him so he could escape with her, hoping to god he didn't change back and be all naked in the middle of the store.
There...really weren't places to hide, were there? The best she could do was a darker alleyway between two of the stores, it seemed...a little safer than the middle of the pharmacy. Ffff this cold thing sucked, by the time she got to the alley she was weezing and coughing, holding his clothes against her in one arm and using the other as a prop against the wall to keep her standing. Dizzy...soooo dizzy.

He stared her for a long moment still struggling with the idea that Neveah was, for all intents and purposes, dead and then he realized that he was much shorter and the world looked much different and ...
The bird let out a deep sigh and let the blushing sickly, woman gather his things and tell him to follow her. He had noted, despite the fact that he behaved otherwise, that the woman was acting quite ... unwell. This concerned him to some degree mostly because he didn't like seeing people ill he might seem like a self-centered b*****d but he really wasn't. He liked helping others, a lot. He did it on a daily basis if he could. Thus when he pretty much scuttled after the odd woman who had his things he paused for a second and stared at a woman with cold medication before he let out a 'MAOU!' to surprise her into dropping the cold remedy syrup. When the surprised woman shrieked and dropped the medication he then picked it up with his beak and scuttled after the woman once again.
He felt bad to a certain degree but to the fabulously plumaged victor goes the spoils. When he managed to catch sight of her again, he hurried after her into the alley. Onuris watched her cough and wheeze, he shuffled up to her and dropped the package of cold remedy at her feet and then stared up at her expectantly.

Thae wasn't aware that the peacock had stopped to scare some woman out of medication; as far as she was concerned he was just slow on the uptake; anyone would be, after finding out someone they once knew was mostly dead and suddenly transforming into a flamboyantly red peacock.
Her coughing and wheezing calmed down a little bit as she wasn't moving anymore, and the blue eyed woman looked down when she felt something fall near her foot. Was that...medicine? For her? Lifting her gaze to observe the expectany looking thing, she eventually slid down to sit on the cool ground, his clothes safely on her lap. He took so long because he'd gotten medicine for her...how...rather sweet of him! It never crossed her mind that he had no way to pay for it. The point was, she had it now.
"T-thank you." Thae said quietly, reaching out for the remedy and managing to get it open and take a little drink of it. "Ugh." She groaned, her lips curling while squeezing one eye closed and squinting the other in utter digust. "This stuff is disgusting, how in the Between do you Gaians voluntarily take this stuff?" Making another face she closed the lid, hoping the aftertaste would disappear soon enough. It took a few more minutes before she realized she may have come off as completely rude. He did go out of his way to get this for her, after all! Um...conversation change...GO!
"Um...so...does this...happen often?"

He watched her patiently as she took the medication and let out a small, strange 'trilling' sort of sound that could be taken for laughter considering his current form. Onuris could talk thanks to some sort of weird allowances made due to the magic that was put into him and his kind to create them but beyond that? They were mostly normal looking creatures for the most part other than abnormal colorations here and there (Onuris was a good example of such). He stretched out his wings and flapped them a bit and settled across from her as he attempted to relax.
Onuris' head shook side to side, "Usually I have better control," he responded matter-of-factly, "unless I am shocked or surprised or what not."
The topic at hand made him recall the topic of why he was shocked into peacock form in the first place and his head bowed a bit, "I ... regret that I never quite got to tell her that I liked her quite a bit," he admitted to the woman across from him, not really certain what to make of her. In a way she reminded him of Neveah in certain ways that he couldn't quite explain but it was strange.
It wasn't exactly that he had lost her as he never 'had' her in any matter other than a growing friendship.

Thae squeaked when the bird talked, pushing up farther back against the wall. She relaxed when he continued to speak, figuring it was probably magic that allowed him too; as a creature of the Between, she knew her fair share of magic.
Her expression dropped when he told her of his regret. Her eyes softened and lowered, absently hugging the man's clothes tighter against her. "She knew, I think...I really believe she liked you quite a bit, too." This feeling deep within her confirmed it, more or less. Yep, he certainly was not family, and definitely more than a friend - Or he could have been, if not for, well...
"I am very, sincerely sorry I took that opportunity from you." There was a little pause, and she refused to look at him, her gaze down on her feet. "From both of you." She added; she certainly wasn't happy that she denied a couple a chance to BE a couple, but she certainly wasn't going to apologize for being given the chance to live.

"Heh, so many lost opportunities," he shifted his wings in form of a shrug and looked to the side for a moment and let out a small sigh. Onuris quietly preened at a misplaced feather for a long moment as he wondered at her apology and simply replied, "It is alright, it is my fault for taking for granted that she'd always be there," he said quietly though his own fear of rejection probably had a lot to do with that as well. It was hard to know what another person was thinking if anything at all. He went into a bit of meditative silence for a long moment as he tried to assess as to whether he could change back now.
...He could, plus his tail feathers were getting horrendously dirty on the alley floor.
"Mind, following me to the dumpster so I can change behind it and you can ... hand me my clothes? We can continue this talk after I'm uh...More humanoid formed," he said and then waited for her response. Yes, he was pretty to look at, but there was only so much he could take of having feathers and a beak.

"She would have always been there." It was a way more than freak accident that had never, ever meant to happen. At all. It wasn't near Neveah's time to go. The doppleganger watched Onuris preen, though after a minute or two it was less watching and more daydreaming an unrelated topic while conveniently staring at him. He spoke again, effectively startling her out of her ponderings.
"Huh? Oh. Sure. I don't mind." She didn't think she'd ever seen a naked man before, which might be amusing to her on some level. A part of her sincerely doubted he'd let her see that, or if he did that she could escape the experience without some annoying heart flutter or blush. It was odd how easily one could mistake affection for illness.
"After you." Thae offered, standing up and following him to the dumpster, handing him his clothes once he was ready to get them. Despite her curiousity Thae averted her gaze, even stepping away from the dumpster once he had his clothes to give him privacy.

He didn't know that but he seemed skeptical about it all the same though he said nothing and simply nodded to the sentiment that she'd have always been there as he got up and walked toward the dumpster. Onuris disappeared behind the dumpster, concentrated for a moment or two and finally he was human form again a little less flamboyantly and very much without the noise that was involved with his prior change. He hoped, reverently, that she wouldn't come up with yet another super shocking thing to tell him otherwise he'd just give up and stay in peacock form for the remainder of their meeting together.
That or just not bother wearing clothes anymore until they parted ways. Either way it was an annoying flaw.
Once he was human-form again he reached out and took the clothes and put them on and once he was redressed again he dusted himself off and noted that the clothing now smelt of the woman nearby which was fine but a tad disorienting but not unpleasant, the scent of a garden with a hint of strawberry it seemed is what this woman smelt like, "The name is Onuris by the way," he murmured feeling awkward for not really knowing her name nor she his.
