Abdiel trotted softly and swiftly over the freshly fallen snow. Each step was precise and deliberate, so that when he paused to look back he could see neat prints left by his great hooves. He tossed his head about for a moment, wondering where he would go now. His attention was caught by the sound of the flowing river not far away, and without another thought he picked up his pace again and trotted in its direction. Hopefully the river would hold something to further draw his attention, but for now it's hold was merely in its pleasant sound and the thought of getting a cold refreshing drink.

Millicent hated the cold. Her muscles kept tensing up in attempts to keep her warm, and her body was visibly shaking. How could she train in this weather? The mare stood in front of a cold river that blocked her way to the other side. She already took a tentative step in the river, and it froze her to the very core, at least that's what she felt.
Her ears perked up a bit, hearing the light crunching from the snow being crunched under someone's hooves. Her eyes tore away from the icy river to see the form of a male heading towards her. Her eyes narrowed on his form, turning her head to ignore his presence. Maybe he would turn around and go away.

As the river came into view, so did the golden mare who was standing next to it. Abdiel trotted to the edge of the river not far from the mare, and finally came to a stop. He gazed in her direction; she seemed unaware of him, or deliberately ignoring his approach. He was warmed by his run, and his breath came out in visible puffs in the cold air. He lowered his head for a quick drink, but kept his gaze on the mare from the corner of his eyes.
After his drink he raised his head and decided to address the mare. She looked absolutely freezing, the way she was shivering all over. "Hello there," Abdiel said to her. He didn't take a step closer, for he wasn't sure if his appearance was welcome. He stood tall and impressive and waited for her response.

Millicent watched the dark stallion through her peripherals. She didn't want to make any unnecessary conversation. She sighed, unhappily with the weather. She felt like she was glued to her spot. The mare had to wonder why he would want to drink something cold, especially when it would cool his insides as well.
The bronze mare then made eye contact with the stallion, still shaking. Her gaze was nothing friendly, and held contempt in her stare. "What do you want?" She hissed out, not wanting her teeth to start chattering. She attempted to look intimidating, but her shaking and obvious coldness made her look vulnerable.

Abdiel heard her quite sigh and noticed her stillness, except for the shivering. She was cold and seemed upset about something. He figured being cold was probably the candidate for that. He wondered why she didn't try to move around and warm up a bit, or go to seek some shelter somewhere, perhaps in her teepee. Abdiel was too happy about the winter and the snow to let it get him down. He had to admit that he was a bit chilly, but he loved to run, and running made his muscles warm.
She made eye contact with him then, and he could see the contempt in her gaze. Her greeting was nothing friendly either, but her chattering teeth made it almost humorous, except that he felt a bit sorry for her.
He tilted his head to the side, and smiled despite her non friendly greeting. His smile was cocky and showed the humor he found in her appearance, but his eyes were soft, showing his compassionate side.
"Nothing more than conversation," he assured her. "But you look to be freezing," he paused, wondering what she was doing out here by herself. He noticed that the hair near one of her front hooves was wet and starting to form crystals of ice. Perhaps she had stepped in the river? He looked back up to meet her gaze. "Were you trying to cross the river?"

Millicent rolled her eyes. "Oh, was I that apparent? I'll be sure to hide how f*cking cold it is better next time." She grumbled, her teeth slightly chattering. Her muscles were tense, and she was slightly crouched over to keep her warmth near the center of her body.
The mare then looked across the river, before returning her gaze back to the stallion. "I guess you could say that." She said, biting out the words through the cold. She was definitely not built for the cold. "My shelter is just across the river, and I'm used to swimming across to get to the other side." She said, staring at the river, noticing the icy chunks of water move down the river.

"Well," Abdiel said, tilting his head and smiling, "standing there isn't gonna make you any warmer." He noticed the way she was slightly crouched over.
He looked across the river when she mentioned her shelter on the other side of it. Now it made sense why she was standing out here. She was trying to get to warmth, only she couldn't reach it. But Abdiel figured that surely somewhere there had to be a bridge that crossed the river. It might be a little out of the way, but he figured she definitely wasn't going to have much luck trying to swim across. He figured he'd even have to be crazy to try it. He laughed slightly at his little private joke - of course, he was a little bit crazy.
He looked back at her shivering form, and then up the river bank. "Why not walk with me down the river? The movement will warm you up, and we're sure to come to a bridge along the way. Then you could make it home and be all the warmer."

Millicent’s gaze flickered to the stallion again. “Oh, like that wasn’t obvious.” She rolled her eyes, annoyance evident in her eyes. “I know it won’t.” She snorted. “I just need a way to get back home and take comfort in the warmth there.”
Her gaze went back to the river before her, and glared at it in anger. Maybe next winter she would migrate to somewhere warmer. This f*cking sucked. She hated this, and how annoying the inconveniences were because of the cold. Her gaze returned to the stallion, and caught him laughing. Now what was he laughing at? “What’s so funny?” She bit out through clenched teeth to prevent the chattering.
“Are you sure there is a river?” She eyed the stallion. “Do you believe that I would not know about this bridge when I live right across the river? I am not that idiotic that I would not know of a bridge’s existence.” She seethed, glaring at him for almost insinuating that she was an idiot. At least, that’s what she deduced in her mind, not noticing any sense of ‘kindness’ in his voice.

Abdiel's face turned serious when he realized she thought he was laughing at her. He wasn't of course, but he figured there was no point in trying to tell her that. "Nothing, nothing.."
He shrugged a little, looking up and down the river. "Well, it was only a suggestion."
He waited, wondering what her plan was. Did she plan on standing there till the water was warmer? How strange. He would have tried to find some sort of shelter if he was that cold. Of course, he was moving around, keeping warm that way. But standing here trying to talk sense into this mare was starting to make him cold.
((Such a late response! Haha...sorry. /: ))

Millicent wrinkled her nose, deciding maybe to just take refuge somewhere else for the time being. The weather should have warned her that it would have been difficult to cross the river. The mare pondered the route of being stubborn and crossing the river anyways, or will herself to go running again while keeping an eye out for any shelter. The mare scowled deeply, weighing the options. She figured that crossing the river would most likely be detrimental to her health.
"I was not looking for a suggestion." She bit back, before stretching out her legs in preparation for the run. The mare was still visibly shaking, but she hoped that the run would make the chills go away.

Abdiel watched as the mare began to stretch her legs. Going somewhere to get warm was indeed a good idea.
"If you're going to run somewhere, I'll come with you. I'm getting cold standing here." He began to stretch his legs as well. It didn't appear that this mare enjoyed his company very much, but that didn't bother him. She seemed to be annoyed way to easily. He smirked at the ground as he stretched. But then again, perhaps she had just had a bad day.
