Not only that, but barely anyone is going to vote, and it will be a massive renunciation of the plan to have the next election when activity picked up. So, what we decided on was to postpone the election until January, and to appoint Comrades Kotka and Pury as Moderator-Commissars in the period from now until the election. So this was a motion brought before the CC (Rob,Tank, and myself). So I'd just like to inform everyone that this is something that is being considered, and, well... If you have any thoughts on the matter, post them. edit: OK, so it looks like there is no major opposition to the motion, however we feel that rather than appointing these commissars, we will have the election as planned, but for three aditional spots to the CC. What do people feel about this?

Agree. I'd like to have a longer time to create a smear campaign against every candidate possible so Elvis will be elected the only leader of the guild.
Turnout being so low thus far kind of makes this the only good option.

Mamby pamby. Here I go getting excited about an election, and even though it's like 2 weeks past the can't postpone date you guys want to postpone it. *shrugs* I don't ******** care, I'll just ignore all those who'll "run" the next time you'll hold an election and just keep reading articles and posting my confusions with them in the guild for other members to clarify for me... Other than that, do whatever you want. ******** wouldn't want to pay attention to an election and, like, you know, it get postponed again or anything, so I'll just assume you're all joking when you say "election" and think instead "huge post of no one cares, join in!" ...
I don't know why this pisses me off, but it's obvious no one cares anyways, so what ever...

I mean, it is absolutely silly to have an election now when we have so few people to participate in the election and when there is such little basis for political differences between the candidates.

I have two responses to this.
First response: Bullshit.
Second response: Wtf are you going to do to encourage activity so that an election can be held in January? Do you think that people are just going to magically and randomly start popping into the guild?
Explain the CC's methods to increase and encourage activity, and mebbe this will be an acceptable option.

There is no point in having a Democratic system if the powers that be arbitrarily decide to do whatever the hell they want like this.

I don't quite understand what you mean by the first bit, but if you're suggesting everyone mods, then I think that is quite unrealistic in this limited forum setting. Secondly, this is a system where we have elections. The 'powers that be' are elected to decide important things. The rules say (from memory) there is a certain time window during which the election must be held, and according to this their leadership will not be going on longer than it should be. The elected are not set in stone - there is room for 'buyers remorse' if enough people want to overthrown the current leadership. Anyhow, they're not deciding whatever they want.... that is why this thread exists: they are asking us to decide democratically.

If it was something set in stone, why would I say "This is something being considered?" Yes, the OP could have been clearer, but I wanted to keep out of the way of the motion in the CC, and just present it. So, you know, people could talk about the idea presented, and not about how we're just shutting down the vote... because we aren't. As for the idea to have everyone have a chance to moderate, that's what the commissariat is for. In the end, the election is going to happen (and it must happen by June, IIRC). It will either happen now, or when we next get a bundle of activity. The reason I wanted this election to go forward in the first place is because I know there are a bunch of lurkers, and I was trying to prod them into posting so that they would be able to vote. This artificial attempt to raise activity failed, and we reconsidered our options. My own reasons for holding this election are pretty much encapsulated in that paragraph, and I believe Comrade Rob's views roughly correspond to it as well. The election is already called, though. So the point is this: there being no real political differences to fight over, no urgent tasks to undertake, and the only real task being education... Do we need a new leadership team? I see a few answers to this: 1: We need a whole new CC, so we vote 2: We don't, so what's the point in a vote 3: We need some new people, so let's vote for [number of new positions to be opened up] comrades to join the CC.
