I'm not a guitarist, but my five favorites (at the moment):

King Crimson - "Fracture"
Grateful Dead - "St. Stephen"
Neil Young - "Cortez The Killer"
Yes - "Siberian Khatru"
Jimi Hendrix - "Little Wing"

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody

I can't think of many others that are as thick and cool sounding as this.

There's gotta be some Pink Floyd in there somewhere. That's all I feel like looking into right now.

Maybe it's "Comfortably Numb" I'm thinking of?

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird

That solo was awsome, and was very long.

I learned it...lol.

I'd have to say Free bird solo too...there must be a reason people shout "FREE BIRD" at concerts whether or not it's skynyrd playing...

I think that many of the live solo's from Toni Iomi and Ritchie Blackmore are the best

I'm not saying these involve the most skill, they're just ones which I like, and really sound good.

All Along the Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix - No brainer here.
My Generation - The Who - Ok, what if it is a bass solo. A bass is still a guitar. Kinda.
Sunday Morning - The Velvet Underground. Again, not necesarily the most skillful, but it really sounds nice, and hey that's supposed to be the most important thing, right?
Norweigen wood - The Beatles - another contreversial pick. Ah, guitar, sitar, same thing. well, okay, actually they aren't, but at least I didn't mention something without strings, like a drum solo! (However... oh never mind.)

I would say:

Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb (From Pulse)
Lynard Skynard - Free Bird
The Eagles - Hotel California
Pink Floyd - Time (Both Pulse and DSOTM versions)
Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven
The Eagles - Get Over It
Fleetwood Mac - The Chain

Those are my favourite solos. 3nodding
