Kara looked happy, to say the least one might say she was glowing. This wasn't just because she was six months along and looking like someone shoved a large balloon under her maternity dress. No, Kara was happy because she was currently standing in the room (rooms) that would be for her babies.
This room had been picked out to be the future room of whatever child they decided to have a long time ago. It was only natural that they set aside the room that was closest to the master bedroom. Originally, when they had set out to have children, they had initially thought they would only have one, in which the conjoined room would be a play room and a bed room respectively. Being the first door they enter be the bedroom and the addition door which led to another room be the playroom.
Of course now, they were having two children, so sometime in the future the playroom was going to be another bedroom. In theory, once the babies got old enough that they would want their own rooms.
Though that was far, far into the future.
Not that it stopped Kara from wanting to plan every inch of the two rooms.

Of course Kara was not alone in the room, or in the room planning for that matter. Room planning had to be done with one's spouse and Donovan was that spouse. He had to admit, honestly to himself that there might be reason to Tracy's nervousness (phobia) of pregnant women. While being pregnant was good news, it was riddled with odd cravings, sudden mood changes, morning sickness and in Kara's case nesting urges. Which was why he was standing in the middle of an empty room while Kara looked like she had just gone to heaven (no pun intended).
"Kara," Donovan murmured, "You do realize we probably won't be using this room until the twins are weaned right?"
It had been decided they were going to be as natural as possible, which meant breast milk, which meant for her sanity and his, the babies were going to be in their room. There was no point in running across the hall every time they needed to be fed, which will be often according to the parenting book that Dai loaned them.

Kara nodded but waved his worry off, "Yes, but when it's time for them to move into their rooms, wouldn't it be nice for them to do so right away? And not to have to rush things? Besides we still could use a play room for them."
She gave a good look after at the room, she loved the arched windows, her father she decided had wonderful taste when he decided to build the manor. Though the walls were just plain white, Kara didn't like that, she wanted some sort of theme for her children.
"We need a rocking chair, not one of those wooden ones that's sort of dangerous, maybe one of those plush comfy ones. Oh... but a wooden one would look nicer..."
She murmured something about maybe flowers or something of the like.

Donovan sighed as he watched Kara murmured about the room as he pulled out his trusty clipboard to start taking down notes. This wasn't so bad he told himself, it wasn't like when Kara insisted on rearranging their room to suit the new babies. Which was needed anyways, but he swore if there were anymore pillows on their bed they wouldn't be able to sleep there.
"Kara...." Donovan warned, "Don't forget we don't even know the genders of the babies. You wanted it to be a surprise remember? This room has to be genderless... or at least hold of painting until they're born."
He had to admit she had a good point about the play room, but Donovan was pretty sure they wouldn't need a play room for another few months after they were born.

"But couldn't we have a sky theme?"
Kara looked up at Donovan with pleading eyes, she so wanted to have everything perfect for when the twins arrived. That or it was her urge to redo everything, at least Donovan didn't know yet in how she arranged their offices in the manor. He probably wouldn't like that, he always did like everything in its place.
"We could have a night sky for the bedroom, and then a day sky for the playroom, and we can put birds and maybe a dragon, and it wouldn't be specific to any gender."

Donovan nearly twitched as he looked down at his pleading wife, not that she had to plead very hard. It was very well known among the family that Donvoan tended to bend over backwards for Kara when he could.
"Well yes, that would be quite genderless, though do try to cut down on the cute stuff right? Ideally these rooms shouldn't need a new paint job until they're at least teenagers."
That would be ideal for him, he didn't want the rooms repainted each time the twins when through a phase. It just wouldn't work that way.

"Then let's do it!" Kara clapped her hands together, "We can have the rooms painted in their proper colours and then commission Trisha to paint the murals."
She paused and thought about it a bit more.
"Though she might not be able to do it all her own, maybe we can get Serenity to help, though she's been living in the Seconds World so I don't know if that would be possible."
She mused on this a bit more.
"But... but it would be cute, we could have birds flying and a sun on the ceiling here, and then an Eastern dragon flying, oh and maybe some mythical bird or such?"
She turned and padded towards the door that would be the other room.
"And then we could have constellations on the ceiling in the other room, and a shooting star and things sleeping in the clouds like winged sheep...."

Donovan didn't even bother to write everything down he could tell just by listening to Kara that things were quickly going to get out of hand unless he convinced her otherwise.
However, he had to be quite careful otherwise it might upset her, or at least he thought so. Though winged sheep? Was she really serious?
"Kara, we need to add a door first," Donovan coughed a bit trying not to look nervous.
He eyed his wife's mood carefully, he also suspected part of the reason why she was like this because she couldn't do anything. Her workload had been lightened greatly as her stomach grew bigger and at times she found this fustrating.
"To the other room," he added quickly, "Because it would be inconvient for the other twin once they grew up to have to go through the sibling's room to leave their room."

Kara looked, perhaps a bit deflated for a moment before perking up at the word 'door'.
"Door? Oh yes the door, of course!" she giggled, "Silly me, it would be kind of silly to go through to the playroom each and every time."
She peered back at the room and looked around a bit before looking up at Donovan.
"Could we have glass windows on the doors?" she asked innocently.

Donovan tried not to cringe at that thought, he wasn't fond of the idea of having glass on indoor doors, well except if it was leading to a family room or something of that nature.
"I think they would want more privacy when they get older," Donovan replied, "Though we could get a few carvings on them. Light of course, like say.... stars and...."
He was trying to grasp an idea that would work well to be an opposite without it being weird.
"Stars and a moon, and clouds and a sun with a nice carved frame so it would like very nice."
Granted he would admit the doors would so stick out like sore thumbs in the hallway but it was no different than what Kali did to her door. It looked like frosted glass but he was sure she had done something to it to let her know when someone was at her door.

Her eyes pretty much lit up at that suggestion and she hugged Donovan, "That's a wonderful idea!"
This way she thought this could be a place just for the twins, how wonderful that would be. She looked so excited that she was pattering (waddling) around the room trying to figure out the rest of the details.
"There needs to be a rug, because they'll be crawling around here right?" she asked Donovan, "And of course a toy chest..."

Normally Donovan would be writing things down, but he didn't bother this time around. He simply nodded at all of this taking it as matter of fact, which it was. What he was more worried about was that Kara was going to get carried away, because he was sure they would also have to replace the door that was between rooms.
Did he hear something about having those doors painted? Probably.... He sighed a bit, normally Kara was far calmer than this.
"Kara, maybe we should figure this all out later?" he finally spoke up.

She stopped in mid chatting and looked up at Donovan with wide eyes. Her wings twitched as she took in her exhausted husband, he didn't seem at all happy to having to do this.
"You don't like this do you," she said in an almost sad voice.
Kara knew when Donovan didn't want to do something, and at the moment it seemed he wasn't at all interested in decorating the twins' rooms. She sniffled a bit at the thought, not even aware she was doing so.

"It's not that I don't like it," Donovan replied trying to keep things from blowing out into a misunderstanding.
While he doubt that Kara was the type to make him sleep on the couch, he really couldn't stand seeing her pull the sad puppy (or kitty) look. It was as if he had accident run over a kid's beloved pet or something equally as bad.
He couldn't quite explain it, it was just one of those things.
"But I think we should well do things one at a time. See how the carving on the doors turn out before having the room painted so Trisha knows what it'll look like, and see how the walls and ceilings turn out before we choose furtinure so everything matches."
Which was perfectly truthful, Donovan would rather take things one at a time.
"Besides," he admitted though he hated to do so, "The furniture will have to be specially painted otherwise it'll just stand out like a sore thumb in the rooms."
He didn't want to add to the chaos but he knew it was true.

Kara paused and blinked for a moment before really really thinking about it. What Donovan said was true. If they wanted everything to work together they would have to plan it bit by bit.
"But... will it all get done in time?" Kara murmured.
She wasn't so sure and she wanted to really do something, and this was the most productive thing she could do.
