I'm asking because I prefer several languages to english. Mostly German, I've been learning it for maybe a year and a half, and I'm completely enamored with the sound of it. I love hearing Spanish and Portuguese, and Tagalog (a Filipino dialect), is that how you spell it?
I'd like to hear from other people who have favorite languages. I guess its one of my passions. Maybe I'm a weirdo sweatdrop
My mother spent many of her teenage years in germany, and now I'm really great friends with the daughter of the woman who my mom stayed with.

It makes me sad that English is the dominating language in the world right now. Maybe it's just cause I'm from the U.S. and i'm kinda sick of the image that U.S. citizens get. I would say America, but that means all of north america, south america, and central america. But you know what I mean.

Tagalog is the main filipino dialect yes. 3nodding
I like Spanish, i have a slight interest in learning the language. I know basic words so it helps to know a bit. 3nodding
I also wouldn't mind learning french if given the oppurtunity.
My 3rd would be japanese, i would think this would be most likely of the three that i would actually get to learn since tourism is the main economy on Guam and i get to encounter japanese tourist more than let's say a french or a spanish tourist.
I just don't want to learn the writing but instead just the sound. dramallama

English, then spanish. I'm picking up some french and kind of dig that stuff but I'm not really comfortable with it.
Still an English guy but Spanish is a close second. There's something about that language I like.
Speaking of language, it's a pet peeve of mine when movies/shows/people use like one spanish phrase than go back to english. Either speak one or the other, yo.

I can't speak any other language but I like to listen to Scottish Gaelic. I think that would be so cool to learn.

I really do like Spanish a lot, because I've been studying it for a while, but I think Italian sounds more beautiful.
Japanese is my favorite. I started studying it more out of an interest in the culture, but the language is great, although difficult sometimes.

yeah japanese is beautiful, but it seems so difficult! I couldn't learn a non-european based language, italian, french, spanish, english, they all have little things that are similar.
It's good to know i'm not the only one who really likes languages.... 4laugh
