To summerize:
Rune, Wolfey and Yamazaki are in the study at the Center, where Rune is going to explain about the Academy and the Alterealm Guild. (and kicking herself for forgetting to mention it earlier.)
Steve, Ani and Rune's infant bunch (Angel, Daimon, Horo Horo, Yvette and Ceres) along with their big sister Rin are in the main living room, where Steve and Ani got into a bit of a scuffle involving Steve poking Ani with a stick and Ani biting Steve on the ankle.

Rune sighed. "I can't believe I didn't mention this earlier." She muttered, digging through a small stack of rolled scrolls until she apparently found the one she was looking for. With a flick of her wrist, she unrolled the map and tapped it with a blue-glowing fingertip; as she moved her hand away, a holographic-type image of the map burst to life just above it, fully three-dimensional and shimmering with different pale colors.
"This," she motioned toward the map, "is Illuzen. Specifically, Payadien Illuzen. It's as good a place as any to start, as it's where the Sliders come from and the Tenjutsu were discovered."

Yamazaki nodded slowly as Rune talked. He had been in enough briefings in his time, to know to keep your trap shut until the end, then ask your questions. Still he started to make his list of things he wanted answers for, already. He gave Rune a little wave of the hand, letting her know to continue at will.

Rune smiled wryly at Yamazaki's wave. Military, then, she pegged him mentally. Or at least enough to act like it. Most of the briefings she'd been to weren't quite as formal - then again, they weren't exactly normal anyway.
"Anyway, the original idea is that the Tenjutsu race - along with the Fey - were almost completely destroyed in a war with several other races." Another tap of the map, and the three-dimensional area became a bubble, connected with several other bubbles. "The Fey escaped into Illuzen, and it's believed most of the Sliders - like me - descended from them." She motioned toward one of the other bubbles, labeled Earth. "Sliders are people that can move between Earth and Illuzen - they're usually born on Earth. Just recently, we found out that the world-jumping ability can be used to get to other dimensions, like Gaia and Alterealm. Understand so far?"

"Eeeek!" Rin dove in an attempt to separate the two scuffling boys, though she missed and landed on her stomach a few inches away. A stray foot caught her in the neck, and she winced. "Oy, you two, stop it!"
Angel seemed nearly in tears. Her best friend and her new friend were fighting! This wasn't right! Her eyes flashed golden for a moment, and she scrambled to her feet, clutching the playpen wall. "SEPATE!!!" She yelled.
The effect was immediate - both boys shot backward and away from each other, hovering a few inches from the floor for a moment in the grip of pure gold energy claws. Then the hold collapsed, along with little Angel, her behind hitting the floor as the boys did.

Wolfey's eyes widen at the strange map and the image floating over it in the air. He leans again the wall unsure of the stability of his own legs. He knew of and has seen a good amount of spellcasting but never this fantastic! He returned his attention to Rune trying to follow this new information as best he could.

Yamazaki nodded slowly again. Sure there were questions, but they could wait. Rune might after all answer them in the natural course of her discussion. And there wasno need to rush things into subjects that she didn't want to broach immediately.

Wolfey nods to Rune's question. "I think so." He knew about other demensons and such by Fey, Sliders, Tenjutsu... New things to him!

Ani's eyes go wide as he feels himself lifted from the ground and pulled away from Steve very quickly. "WOAH!!!" He yells when his butt hits the ground. How that happen? Ani didn't think on it for long before he starts crawling back over to make sure Steve was ok.

"Well, the Tenjutsu escaped into Alterealm - what was left of them, anyway." Rune motioned toward one of the other bubbles. "The main group was led by a man called Lord Helmond. He gathered as many of the warriors, mages and others he could, and took several orphanages under his protection. He managed to get the kids out and into a safe place." With a flick of her fingers, the bubble of Alterealm expanded, blotting out the rest and transforming into the front of what appeared to be either a very large fortress or a monolithic castle. "He and his survivors started the Alterealm Guild. It's - sort of a place for Heros, I guess. Defenders or people who want to help others. They travel through Alterealm, and people who need help can request it from the Guild."

Steve was suffering silently... his ankle was bleeding. He fell on his bum, two things hurt, but he didnt' cry. Instead he gave it a stiff upper lip, and clung to his staff.
"Bad dog!" he called out to Ani, waving the stick at him so he wouldn't get close enough to bite him.

Ani stops just out of stick range. "Me no mean 'urt yuu, yuu otay?" He sees that Steve is still bleeding. "Rin he got owie!!"

Rin stared at Angel for a few seconds before registering what the other two had said. Scrambling to her feet again, she stared at Steve's ankle with a slightly scattered look. "Um, okay - I don't - " taking a deep breath, she clutched an amulet hanging around her neck. The mental voice that came next was a bellow. ~RAVEN!!! ROSE!! Come quick, I need help!~
"What is wrong?" A small, slightly squeaky female voice asked. Standing in the hallway door were two figures. The question had come from the second, a young girl wearing a gauzy purple jinn top, jeans and jinn-style slippers. Her hair was long, done in a single curling ponytail in the back, and dark purple; her eyes, quite large, were only a few shades lighter. Seeing the blood, she yelped. "AHHH! AHHHH! INJURY! THIS REQUIRES IMMEDIATE ATTENTION! MEDICAL AID!"
"Mental aid, maybe." The second figure muttered, thunking the girl on the head lightly. Cody rolled his eyes, trotting into the room and crouching between the two boys. "So, you got in your first scuffle, huh? Who won?" He held a hand over Stevie's ankle, the palm swirling with golden-green energy for a moment as the bite mended. "Nice bite, but I'm betting Ani has a few killer bruises from that stick."

Well, now they had it shaping up like Steve was destined t be some sort of extradimensional police officer, or something. Still there was the war as well. Meaning someone out there wanted the Tenjutsu dead/captured, or at least their land. Probability was high there would be another grab at them. Sooner or later that is. Might not even be in Steve's generation. It all depended on this enemy, and how long this 'guild' had been set up.
Still, he held in the questions, signalling for Rune to move on. Answers could always be right around the corner.

Won? "Umm..." he said, pointing towards Angel. She did 'win' he supposed. Since she got in the last strike. He was still quite disoriented from all this. The dog randomly attacking him. Teleporting off in the middle of a fight. Yeah.
Still, now that he looked down at the wound, he was proud of himself. He had taken the fight to the enemy, didn't give up, didn't cry. He was a big boy, a rad ninja guy, just like in that movie they saw the other night.
He pumped his fist in the air, "YOSH!" he called out, enjoying this moment of somewhat victory while it was still fresh in the air.

"Well, they realized fairly quick that there were a few flaws in that plan." Rune smiled wryly. "Number one being that a fair few of the Tenjutsu just wanted normal lives - or at least, didn't want to be special heros. The second was that after the first generation or so, once the guild was completely established, they realized that the youngest Tenjutsu kids they found wouldn't be fully ready to join the Guild for several years. But they still wanted the little ones to have someplace safe. A refuge if they needed it, and a place to learn how to use their powers and defend themselves."
The image shifted, becoming a large compound clearly built along the same lines as the first. Still, this one seemed - more open, and certainly quite a bit larger, at least on the outside. "So they created the Academy. It's part normal school, part training in magic and physical defense." She motioned toward it. "Once the kids hit about five to eight years old, they're enrolled in classes and work their way up to being adults. There's two big tests that happen to measure the classes' knowledge and abilities, but those happen a little later. When they graduate, they're able to do whatever they want - and protect themselves." That last bit was clearly important, to judge by the shadow that flitted across Rune's face. "The deal Aimee and I made when we opened the Center was that each child we adopted out would return for classes at the Academy."

Cody laughed, ruffling Steve's hair fondly before moving on to Ani. "So Angel won? Eh, you'll have to have a rematch when you're all bigger. But there'll be rules." He didn't seem extremely worried that the infant and toddler had come to blows. "No sneak attacks yet, either. You've gotta give the rest a chance to grow up, Steve-o."

Ani slightly tilted his head lookin at Steve wondering why the boy was happy for getting bit! What a strange kid. Ani looks at Cody. "'Ody, 'ow me an him whoosh?" He points where he landed. Ani hugs his plushie in his arms waiting for an answer.

Wolfey watches the swirling images of the map, listening to Rune. He didn't know if he liked the idea of Ani going to school in another dimension!

Steve smiled at Cody, and his voice tried to drop, all serious like in the movie he saw, "Only a ninja can truly kill and ninja!" he quoted enthusaitically. He was grinning from ear to ear, holding up his forearm before his mouth, perhaps imitating a ninja mask.
"Angel need grow up faster though... too small..." he said, sounding serious enough as he looked over at her. "When she get big?"

Yamazaki frowned at this, "Thanks. You know, makin a deal to sell off the youth of kids, without telling us," he said. Sarcasm was dripping from his voice like venom. Sure, he noticed Rune's dark expression on it, and he shared it himself. The idea was a little too close to things he saw, back in the war.
"You know, I rather skip on the school, if I may. I can raise Steve myself, hell, even train him. Not like I don't know anything about spellcrafting or handling weapons."
