Oh, she was quite annoyed. Not once, but twice someone had told her she hadn't been old enough to do the activities she wanted to do. She had dressed in casual clothes today, going out but she couldn't buy o go anywhere without showing her blasted i.d. Sure, it was only one store and one cashier. But that still annoyed her.
She was sitting on the swings, in her negaverse form, holding up her bunny, Loppy, as if to silently complain with her one pair of annoyed brown eyes and one pair of black lifeless "X" eyes. Why she was in that form? It was easier to move around in than her civilian form and she was going star-seed hunting later tonight. It wasn't at all often that Serandite got annoyed or angry but it was quite vexing to say the least. After all, her amusement could only be taken so far.
"Perhaps some pretty starseeds might get my mind off this. Going out at night always did relieve my stress." She sighed, leanign her head against one of the chains that held the swing up, swaying slightly back and forth.

Not far from the girl, a boy had hopped the fence around the playground. Well over the fence, in fact, a distinctive Negaverse jumping ability that the teen never hesitated to abuse. He landed about ten feet behind her, kicking up splintery tanbark as his boots came down to earth. There was a quiet, misaligned set of ticking sounds coming from the clocks on the boots, wound out of sync. Dressed in a military uniform after a heavy metal rocker's own heart, he looked distinctly out of place this close to kiddie swings, see-saws, and slides.
Lieutenant Hematite wasn't happy. But then, he was never happy. It was merely more annoyance than usual. The usual thing about it, though, was the cause - the General-King. Hematite was way past bothering with trying to meet his ridiculous standards, and instead lived day to day skirting the limits of his patience. But now it was getting compounded more and more with bizarre, inexplicable limitations and pointed insults. He didn't think the other lieutenants, especially Obsidian, had to take this kind of s**t over what they did on their off hours. His attempt to mess with the General-King had completely backfired. Oh, and then there was the whole engagement. Ugh. Hematite could barely articulate how much the man pissed him off at this point. He didn't have anyone to talk to about it, anyhow. Nealite was taking Charonite's side all the time now and it was like turning from banging his head against one brick wall to do it again on another. He'd just have to seethe. Forever.
He moved across the playground at a casual pace, looking around as if vigilance alone would protect him from a senshi ambush. He was unarmed; he'd been unarmed since Tisiphone had destroyed his weapon. And he hadn't brought so much as a lead pipe with him to use as a temporary replacement tonight, so fighting was going to be twice as painful. That's when he spotted the bright pinks of the kimono and momentarily froze. Didn't look very senshi-like, but he couldn't be sure. Could he actually get away with sneaking up on them and removing their star seed, or had he made too much noise already? Hematite sauntered close to the back of the swingset. He'd taken down Tisiphone, of all senshi; a little girl wouldn't be able to put up enough of a fight to be trouble. And hell, she probably was human. Senshi weren't lazing around playgrounds after dark, they ran around trying to keep the spotlight on themselves, playing heroes to a city that didn't want them.

Serandite didn't look behind her although the presence was fairly.. obvious, to label the encounter. In this quiet atmosphere of night, the ticking sounds (out of sync ones, she was assuming) was like yelling out to a stray rabbit "I AM HERE." But the problem here was that she didn't know who was behind the swingset, A senshi.. A negaverse.. a civilian.. or something else?
Slowly and cautiously, she stood up from the swingset, indicating that she didn't pose any danger to attack to this mysterious intruder.. for now. Straightening out her short kimono skirt, she cringed if it was another negaverse. They caught her goofing off. Would they report to Charonite? With disguised calm and a delicate turn of her heel, she faced towards a.. male? A negaverse male? It was military style after all.
"Oh. Crap. I do think it might have been better for a senshi to catch me like this. Are you going to report me to the General-King for slacking off?" She said guiltily, edging to the side, not wanting to fall under the General-King's wrath. God, she hoped he wasn't like Obsidian. "I can explain it really-- Uh.. I'm on my way to do something evil-- Like robbing a candy store?" She said hastily, wondering what nonsensical words were tumbling out of her mouth.

Aha. Negaverse. Looked kind of young for it, though, no wonder it was a tough guess. He relaxed, though to anyone besides Charonite he still looked prepared to brawl. A sour expression crossed his face at her question, at everything she was saying.
Hematite knew deference. He'd done plenty of it himself when he'd learned that his own opinions and beliefs meant s**t in the face of serious bodily harm. So when he spotted the slight movement as the girl tried to put space between them, he closed it eagerly with a step. Another lieutenant shirking their responsibilities, huh? Well if he couldn't, why the hell could she? This was just unfair. "If a senshi had found you, you'd probably be dead. You'd know that if you ever fought any. But you got lucky tonight."
"Maybe no one told you, but shirking your job gathering star seeds? That's how you buy yourself a one-way ticket to totally ********> in this place. See, I should report you. I should leave your fate up to the big boss of ours." Hematite parroted the hypocrisy he'd been dealt with each failure. This was the only way he knew it was done, coming down hard on things he was equally guilty of. He didn't even realize he was mimicking Charonite. But she deserved it all anyhow. For mocking him like this. If he couldn't get away with doing things his way in the Negaverse, then he'd stab the rest in the back as they ought to be. Though that was so much effort. Maybe he could just put the fear into her without actually having to do much of anything constructive himself. "But like I said, you got lucky tonight, Lieutenant - what's your name, anyhow?"
"How many star seeds do you have on you?"

Goddamnit, why did most soldiers of the negaverse have to act like a bunny had been stuffed down their throat? Did any of them know the meaning of loosening up? And how dare the other lieutenant assumed that she had no fighting experience withsoever? What an extremely rude guy. He knew nothing. And assumed everything. She hated those people who just barged their way through with so much ignorance.
With every word he said, she could feel her annoyance bar rising. She put her hand haughtily on her hip, a frown crossing her expression. The childish guilt disappeared, replaced by the prideful and dark look of -- well, a girl. A girl who didn't like what was in front of her. Her next words may not have consisted entirely of truth at the moment but it didn't stop her from sending a smartass retort back to the lieutenant.
"Well, considering your lengthy rudenesss, I shouldn't tell you." She played on the parallelism of his words, imitating his authoritative and condescending tone.
"And for your information, I've got enough to keep me off the General's s**t-list for the night. I guess it wasn't lucky enough to get off yours, huh?" She crossed her arms, giving off a distinctly snobbish and offended air. "Oh, and the name of the most recent lieutenant on your shitlist now would be Serandite. Lieutenant Serandite. Feel free to report me if you want to, you arrogant a**." She sighed, shaking her head. "God, you're just like Obsidian."

"Oh, good. That sounds like a lot." His eyes narrowed somewhat at the Obsidian comment. Suddenly, he held out one hand expectantly, the other resting on his hip. He looked entirely serious. "I'll be talking half of those, then."
The new kids never expected to get shaken down while in their Negaverse form, but that just made it easier for Hematite to assert himself as a professional schoolyard bully. A few seconds went by before he explained, as though it should have been obvious to the girl. "I decided I'm instituting a b***h Tax tonight, and I'm afraid that last little zing just put you way over the limit, princess."
"And I'm the man with no name," he replied, utterly cynical. "Pay up, and you won't have to worry about being on anyone's shitlist. For now."
He followed it up with a very thin, very unfriendly smile. But hey, it was a smile. Smiling made everyone feel safe.

b***h tax? Really? Really?
Her eyes darted towards the extended hand for a split second, wondering why in the world she would even think of following this Lieutenant's orders. They were both on the same side and same rank. She had no reason to listen to him. What she did in her off-time was none of his business. And yet he made it out to be.
She returned his unfriendly smile with a sweet one, taking a seat back on the swing. ".. And if I don't?" Serandite had the audacity to start swinging slightly, her posture deceptively relaxed but wary of this "no name" man.
"What, you can't get some starseeds of your own?" She asked him, tilting her head slightly in a skeptical manner. She silently recounted her starseed count-- she didn't have any on her tonight but she did just turn in about two several days before. Would that get her off the hook with the General King? She had absolutely no clue if it would-- she'd have to take her chances. She wasn't about to let him bully her. The blasted lieutenant shouldn't have been underestimating other lieutenants in the first place.
