Well since my main team are now in the lower 60's I been dueling in the battle tower. So far I have 2 single battle wins and 1 double battle wins. It's been kind of helping out my pokedex a bit. Love seeing favorites that I will never get due to my silliness of getting a Dsi instead of a DS lite. Oh well.
However an odd thing happened today I duel over GTS and I saw Charizard but the trainer had given it a Korean nickname and it doesn't show up in my Pokedex. crying
Is it because I have to see such Pokemon via NPC trainers instead?
Also should I level up my Pokemon higher cause as is now they are still pretty weak even against attacks that shouldn't have that much effect. I mean my Ponyta was taken out by Wurmpie (sp) I thought everything was cut down to lv 50 no matter what. So I'm a little confused. I guess I should talk to the NPC again cause yeah I still suck at it.
Oh and my Pokemon don't seem to really use any of the held items as effectively as they should. I mean my Emploean usually uses his shell bell after every attack everywhere else but when he battled in the tower he waited till the last second to use it.

really the charzard thign was that it had a foreign nickname and "dex" doesnt regonize those unless yo uown it.

I mean my Emploean usually uses his shell bell after every attack everywhere else but when he battled in the tower he waited till the last second to use it. that is because the tower is set to be a bit more challenging because it stops you form using item as much aftera certien point depending on what version you migh tnto even be able to us them.

pokemo nseen in battle tower or wi-fi fights arent added to your dex at all
sucks huh?
and the item thing is incorrect, shell bell only heals if you have HP to heal and damage your foe
leftovers always heals no matter what, as long as you've damage to recover
in-a-pinch thigns like blaze, and certain berries become active at 30% max HP
as for trouble with them:
Effort values are able to help, but thats a long stroy so i'l lprovide a singl example:
blissey has good SPDEF and MASSSIVE HP
but ehr physical defense is hugely poor
so as geodude gives EVs to Defense, and Gastrodon to HP and Tentacruel to SPDEF, avoid Geodudes but fight Gastrondons and Tentacruels
also vitamins aid this
HP UP, PROTIEN, CALCIUM, IRON, ZINC, CARBOS
each gives to a stats, which is listed in their item description ang vie 10 effort values a vitamin used and onyl 10 of any one vitamin may be used on that stat
(you can however feed all vitamins even after reching 10 with one)
using this, you hit 100 evs in a stat leavng 155 to be gained by battle
using Macho brace, or Power Items helps
M-brace double EVERY EV gained(ie: gyarados is 2 atk ev, with macho brace that's 4) However Power tems add 4 ev to the respective EV gain (that same gyarados, but now you hold Power Bracer, you gain 6 Atk EVs)
also pokerus double both battle EV and Power/Macho EVs but doenst effect Vitamins
Using a Power Item with Vitamins is a mystery to me but i dont it works that way same with macho
using EV spreads you cant fight your way throguh the Battle tower with minimal trouble until Palmer, then at him, and after, you're gnna have a hayday trying to stay alive

man, how am I supposed to fill up my Pokedex then! I thought that was the whole point of the battle tower!
Thanks everyone! Between beating the Elite four and trying to catch water-based pkmn I guess I will just stick to training.
