It had been three days since her dream of Elysion.

Rea sat on the window seat of their dorm, much like she would any normal day, her books piled high around her. The steadily approaching and eventual arrival of winter had pushed her first to keep inside the school, and then finally just to keep inside her warm dorm, snuggled up nice and toasty under a blanket. Walks outside became shorter, not wanting to brave the cold, despite the warm jackets she had picked up from her house at her last visit home. As such, what had once been her pensive sanctuary had now become her study grounds as well. With the fall semester quickly drawing to a close, teachers had begun piling on the homework, trying to get one last assignment in before the break.

Studying, however, was not why Rea was sitting there that day, though. The fault lie in a certain dream she had had, not three days before. No matter how many days passed, it still felt prominent in her mind -- she couldn't shake it. At first it had been a blessing, something beautiful that she had been so depressed to find out was a dream. That day, she had been in a better mood than usual, the memory following her throughout the day, making her sigh as she went over and over the scenario in her mind. That night, she had gone to bed, saddened that she would probably forget it by the morning, after it had been such a pleasure. Yet the morning came, and still she remembered every detail. Again, she had gone through the day remembering, bewildered but otherwise unbothered. It wasn't until she had woken up this morning, still able to recall the blue of the water, the warmth of the air, the stone palace, the maiden, the pegasus...

Normal dreams didn't act like this.

It was starting to bug her a little.

Pursing her lips, the eldest Marshall girl gave a heavy, frustrated sigh, tapping the end of her pencil against her journal, the page only half full and seeming very choppy, compared to the uniform writing of previous pages.

Eve had chosen to stay inside for the same reason Rea did; she very much disliked the cold, although Rea would notice that when Eve had nothing to do, she resorted to pacing about the room or drumming her fingers impatiently on her desk, as if she wished for winter to be over already. This was what she was thinking, really, although she knew that it was such a wild hope, she still clung on to it anyway. She couldn't wait until the snow started melting and the flowers started blooming and spring came again. Eve had also went out every now and then to take a walk; she was very easily bored after a few hours of homework, but today, she was slumped in her chair, staring at the screen of her laptop. Two paragraphs of words neatly lined the screen, but Eve muttered a soft dissatisfied 'ugh' and deleted the last one, then proceeding to rewrite it.

No, that didn't sound right. The girl spun around in her seat and opened her mouth, about to ask Rea something then promptly closed it as she watched her roommate look very distracted about something. Homework problems could wait for now. "Hey." She said. "What's bothering you?"

Looking up, she seemed surprise when Eve spoke up -- she had forgotten her roommate had even been there. Well great... now she felt bad for interrupting. As her words began to sink in, however, Rea felt less and less able to keep her thoughts to herself, and she sighed again, softer this time. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you," she replied, closing the pages of her diary and setting it down, swinging her legs around to the front of the window seat to face Eve.

She didn't believe it herself. It was silly, to be so bothered by something like this, and it was certainly not something she normally did. In fact, it would probably be something she would give other people weird looks about. She certainly was scoffing at herself enough. It was just tugging at her mind, like she was suppose to remember. Because she had promised, right? She'd promised to ensure their safety. Whoever 'they' were.

"I had this... dream. And now I can't forget it..." Scrunching up her face, she rested her chin on her palm, her eyes focused intently on Eve's, as if she were begging for her to give her the answers, "It's stupid, I know."

"Anything else is more believable than a talking cat." Eve said. It was hard to tell she was serious; sometimes she would lapse into a frown after texting Elzo that he better not dare try and find Linarite on his own, or maybe just plain grumpy as she watched the snow fall, covering the ground thickly. It was true, however, that ever since they became senshi, Eve found magical, strange things much more believable than she would if she was just a normal civilian watching the news. Some of them might believe it, but they didn't exactly understand.

"What was it about?" She asked, blue eyes blinking curiously at Rea. "It wasn't Astraea nagging at you, was it? It would be hell if she could invade our dreams." She didn't want to be constantly reminded of her duties all the time, thank you very much.

For a brief instant, a smile curled the corners of Rea's lips, thinking about Astraea invading their dreams. She probably would, if she could. However, it faded as quickly as it came, the frustrated look back in Rea's blue-green eyes, her fingers clenching and uncleching as she tried to vocalize what it had been. How could she describe it? That was the real issue -- she couldn't. She would never be able to describe the clarity, nor the strange sensation she had felt. Not for the first time, Rea wished she could express herself better in words.

"It was... this place," she tried, feeling more than a little ridiculous. Why was it that dreams, when vocalized, always sounded dumb? "I was walking... there was a field of flowers in every color imaginable... and a lake to one side..." At this, she moved her left hand out, palm flat, as if mirroring a surface. Her eyes seemed a little distant as she began to describe the scene, as if in her minds eye she was reliving it, which would have been the truth.

"There was a woman... a girl... described herself as a shrine maiden. But the shrine was in shambles... and in the middle there was this pegasus in the middle, in a birdcage. In a golden birdcage. It was dead." She paused again, looking a little more discouraged. Every single time she thought about it, it was always at this point that Rea shook it off, the feeling of the familiar getting to her too much. This time was no different. Shaking her head a little, she focused on Eve, looking just as distressed but much more herself than she had before.

"It was all so familiar. And I can't seem to forget it. You're suppose to forget dreams, they're just your mind processing everything you're feeling, something that's suppose to disappear when you wake up. But I can't."

Eve was quiet as she listened; it actually sounded like a very pretty dream Rea had. But was it really just that? Just a dream? Perhaps they would have laughed it off before, but being a senshi made you take even what sounded like the most ridiculous things seriously. Like a talking cat. And now a mysterious dream that lingered in your mind? What next, Eve wondered.

"How strange." She murmured, scrunching up her face in thought. "I think you should ask Astraea about this? Although we don't really know how to contact her and all..." It must be senshi related, right? A pegasus sounded magical enough.

"If we can find her. Astraea isn't known for coming when she's called. Or we need her," Rea replied a little dully, giving a tired sigh. She had been privy to that enough times to know it was true, even from the beginning of her own awakening. She knew that Astraea was probably really busy, but there were times when senshi needed a little attention, a little help. You didn't have to LIKE them, lord knew she didn't think Astraea liked her by any stretch, but in many ways the cat was like a sort of 'god' to the senshi -- everyone wanted to know she was at least listening. Sometimes it just didn't feel that she was.

Giving another sigh, the strawberry blonde girl stood from where she had been sitting on the plush cushion, setting her diary down with a hard thud probably meant to assure her decision.

"It was probably just a dream. No need to bother her for something so trivial."

"If we see her, then." Eve said, pursing her lips. The guardian cat indeed came and went as she pleased, and never really stayed long enough to advise them about the whole senshi business. She would probably have suggested patrolling the streets in the hopes of finding a senshi about to be awakened (which would call for Astraea, right?), but that would have the chance of bumping into youma. And it also meant going about in the cold. In winter. That was out of the question.

"You'll never know." The blonde girl replied. "Stranger things have happened, after all."

"Talking cats, for instance," Rea replied, completely serious, the joke falling flat, even to her. It was pretty sad when talking cats became the norm. Sad, and a little disturbing. It was amazing, how quickly being a senshi could take over your life. The strawberry blonde girl was beginning to care littler and littler about her classes, spending less time perfecting an essay and more time just getting it done before a meeting or before a patrol. She hadn't been the most family-oriented person either, but even her family life was suffering. If she'd had any friends beyond Eve, she was sure they'd probably suffer too.

Standing up, the Marshall girl gave an almost nonexistent sigh, grabbing her coat from her bed and sliding it on, heading towards the door.

"I'm going to take a walk. I'll let you know if I find her," She paused, glancing back at her roommate a little awkwardly "... thanks for listening."
