Another night, another patrol. If you asked, the third-year crystal student wouldn't be able to tell you why she felt so compelled to sneak out of her dorm every night for the last month and a half. In retrospect, she couldn't even explain to herself why she had this strong desire that tugged her out of the comforting covers of her own bed to wander the empty corridors of her campus until she heard the faint chinking noise of a security gate closing gently behind her.
Was it responsibility? Is it a sense of duty that firmly rested atop her shoulders, urgently whispering for her to find a private corner of the city to transform? Whatever it was, with each night Alba felt less and less inclined to question it, and as Alcyone, was becoming more accustomed to her walks in the dark. It wasn't often that she was faced with perilous danger in the form of a scantily-clad lieutenant or a raging youma, but regardless, she was there just incase.
She had been able to stop a few robberies and petty crime, so at least her being around seemed to have paid off for others' well-being in the end.
It had been nearly two months since that fateful night nearby the coffee shop. Alcyone had avoided the area entirely since it happened, though tonight she couldn't help but notice the familiarity of the buildings, or the smell of roasted coffee beans. Green eyes warily stared at the very alleyway where she had first met Astraea, and it looked just as she had left it: foreboding and empty.
It took only a single leap for her to jump atop one of the buildings that created the alley. Alcyone felt entirely grateful to Atlas for showing her this physical talent as icy cold wind whipped at her face and tangled hair, as she wouldn't have ever dreamed of being able to do such a thing on her own. As heels connected the solid concrete surface that made up the roof, she peered around her vicinity to find it desolate, and therefore, safe.
Keeping attentive, she decided that now would be a good time to just sit for a while and see if anything happened. When she wasn't constantly walking around the city, her other tactic was to stay put for a small amount of time before uprooting and moving elsewhere. This method was usually used when she was feeling particularly tired, and needed the time in-between to rest up or reflect.
In this case, her thoughts couldn't help but to relapse on that very first night: the claws of Varascite, the yowl of Astraea, and even the atmosphere of her first storm still fresh in her mind.

Pegasus, too, felt the compelling urge to wander the city at night, like no other teenage girl could, although she probably had felt it for a little longer than Alcyone had. It had been quite a long time since her own awakening as a senshi, so long it felt like a distant memory. It certainly was a distant life. Remembering a time she was not Sailor Pegasus was like catching glimpses of photographs of when you were a child -- you remembered, but you didn't, and no matter how hard you tried you could never go back. She had never really wanted to, personally; there was nothing really to go back to. There was no defining feature in her life, no passion that drove her. Now, at least, she not only had the feeling of duty and sense of right to do something, but the power to do it. And even more recently there had been that dream...
Even so, Sailor Pegasus would still not call herself a good example of what a scout should be. For the most part, the teal-skirted senshi tried to stay under the radar, preferring to patrol where she was moderately hidden, in case a Negaverser or another senshi showed up. Unless there was any direct danger to someone, she was unlikely to show herself willingly. Better to watch and judge from afar than in the middle of unnecessary combat.
As it was, Sailor Alcyone was not the only one who had been affected at the coffee shop, nor was she the only one who had chosen to patrol that area. For whatever reason, sleep had escaped her that night, despite how it was not her turn to keep watch for her team, no dreams blessing her with rest that night. Her feet had brought her back to the coffee shop where she had first discovered her roommate and dearest friend was a senshi, and the tentacle monster had almost eaten her. It wasn't an unfond memory -- none of her battles so far had been particularly 'bad.' Some were merely more unpleasant than others.
Resting her shoulder against the side of the building, Pegasus rested in the shadow of the alleyway, thinking to herself, surprisingly off-guard for someone who prided themselves on being precise.

It would seem that the coffee shop was quickly becoming the new champion of a competition that Tokyo city held on so dearly for so long as Most Attacked By Bizarre Phenomenon. It was puzzling, then, for it to still be open and continuing its business as normal, though probably with a few handfuls of newer employees. Perhaps the people of Destiny City were morbidly curious to see the attacks from the shop's glass windows, which no doubt were now bullet proof.
Pegasus' entry did not go un-noticed by Sailor Alcyone, the lone guardian from up above. Her body tensed at the sound of echoing footsteps and she mentally prepared herself to be ready for whatever might appear within the alley's shadows. Everything and anything, that is, except for the delicate red-head with ruffled sleeves as soft as down feathers.
The uniform was unmistakable, particularly in the details of the trailing bows and white bodice that stood out in the stark night. Alcyone leaned forward for a better look, though was not rewarded with anything interesting; it looked like the girl was doing the same thing she was.
She briefly wondered if patrolling actually ever did any good in the end.
"Pssst," She murmured, cupping her hand next to her mouth for better projection, "Over here."

'Pssst. Over here.'
Every muscle in Pegasus' body tensed, her head snapping up to stare at the form on the roof, not sure what to expect and ready for a fight if need be. Blue-green eyes met the dark green skirt and storm broach with no change of expression, although they traveled over the girl's form, looking her up and down a few times, sizing her up silently to herself. Although it was clear that Alcyone was most definitely a senshi, that didn't put the strawberry blonde girl's mind at ease. Anti-social by nature, she wasn't in the habit of trusting just anyone, even if they were wearing the same uniform as she was. Just because you were on the same side didn't mean you saw eye to eye. Mentally, Pegasus kicked herself for letting herself be caught off-guard, although she brushed it away. No time for that now.
Judging the distance to the roof of the cafe, the senshi of dreams crouched a little, kicking off the ground and leaping into the air, skirt and sleeves billowing in the light wind that blew. Within a few seconds she had landed in a crouch beside the other senshi, straightening with a wary precision that was more due to her personality than to Alcyone herself.
And here was the hard part. Introductions. God did Pegasus hate introductions. She would rather fight three negaverse lieutenants with her hands tied than meet new senshi. She was just felt that awkward.
"I wasn't aware that there was another senshi who patrolled around here..." She murmured after a few minutes, reserving judgement but obviously having a hard time with starting the conversation.

Pegasus seemed to live by her name when she jumped to the top of the building, as the entire physical act, however short it was, seemed as graceful and as natural as a bird is with flight. Alcyone admired her beauty and how feather-light her movements were; even her landing didn't seem as heavy and hard as the one the senshi of storms did not too long before.
So far she had been very lucky to have found as social senshi as Atlas and Flora were towards her. She hardly had to try to speak around them, as they were always there continuing the conversation with her and were very open about themselves and their friendliness towards her. The pale-skinned girl infront of her will prove to be a challenge, though it was one that Alcyone was willing to accept. Socializing was the least of her worries for tonight.
"Me neither," She agreed, her voice clear and passive. "I'm actually surprised that it took me this long to come here...." She gestured a gloved hand towards the alleyway below them, dark and ominous as ever. "It's where it all started for me. I don't think I've even walked by it in daylight since then."
It was strange for her, to give out such a personal tidbit out to a complete and total stranger. "I'm Alcyone, by the way. And you are...?"

Pegasus breathed a sigh of relief when Alcyone seemed to take the reigns with the conversation. It made things easier for her, and on the inside she was grateful - something she probably would not admit to green-skirted girl. Probably not for a very long time. Or until they were friends. Whichever came first. Visibly, she relaxed, listening politely as she spoke, tilting her head a little in a curious manner.
"It's where it started for my part-- for my teammate too," she replied after a second, thinking back on that day. It had also been Charys and her first date too, although it had ended less than romantically. Aka, a monster throwing a car into a nearby building and trying to tentacle rape her. Shaking off the memories, she returned back to the scene, letting her eyes drift over the other girl as she introduced herself, noting the details with a great deal of interest. Alcyone. It just... fit, although it made little sense why she would feel something like that. But it did. It just sounded right.
"Pegasus," She replied in a surprisingly friendly manner, not at all cold as she usually was to people she first met, "Senshi of dreams."
The dreams part she added after a pause, reluctant to share her sphere. She always got a little s**t over her sphere, as well as her constellation. And to be fair, it WAS very girly. Pegasus. Dreams. Next it would be rainbows and flowers or something. She felt like she was five.

It seemed that the little coffee shop was beginning to become its own miniature Tokyo, with youmas and villains disrupting its bustling business and breaking the glass of the store-front windows. Perhaps the promise of danger had lured more customers to its entrance, clutching at their cameras in hopes of glimpsing at what people have been gossiping about in the streets. Perhaps this is why the shop has had a "Now Hiring" sign carefully taped onto the front door, and has since Alba first came to the shop in her thirst for caffeine in the form of a hot cup of coffee.
Regardless of it all, she couldn't help but feel a strong connection towards Pegasus as she continued to tell her own tale of the same little shop that changed both of their lives and then some.
"Dreams," She repeated, the 'R' gently rolled by the tip of her tongue, "How beautiful. I think it suits you very well. You are very graceful." And beautiful, she thought, with those clear blue eyes. It was difficult not to lose herself in them.
"And I am the senshi of storms. It's only fair that I share my sphere with you, as you have with me." The sight of her new acquaintance relaxing prompted her to become more playful with her chatter. "Would it be alright to ask who your partner is? I've only met a few others like us. It's nice to know there are more fighting the fight."

Sailor Pegasus turned her eyes to the coffee shop where so much had started, remembering that day when she had discovered her best friend and roommate was a sailor senshi too, becoming her partner and confident to the parallel world they both lived. The day when she had first met the girl behind Sailor Nerissa, the carefree, laid-back, unworried and unhurried girl who had somehow weaseled her way into Reanna Marshall's trust.
A decision she had ended up regretting.
Lifting her eyes to the dark-haired girl, Pegasus froze as the words rolled off her tongue, and the faintest hint of a flush touched her cheeks, barely noticeable but decidedly there. It was not just in the way the words were accented, but something more she couldn't put her finger on. It made the redhead look twice at the girl, really look at her, instead of the cursory glance she usually gave. "It suites you too..." she replied after a few moments, taking in the green skirt, the dark eyes, the glass accents around her waist that reminded her of rain. It definitely suited her, and not just because of her fuku. There seemed something very... stormy... about her. Electric.
"Sailor Flora, Senshi of Spring," she spoke up again, pausing for a second before speaking again, "That's my partner. Sailor Flora."

Flora was a very familiar name to Alcyone. It wasn't long ago at all since she had her run-in with the senshi of spring and the plant youma, a night that she'll always remember as the first time she'd met another scout that wasn't Atlas. Her words were imprinted in her mind as she walked down the flooded hallways of Crystal Academy, or she would recollect them as she quietly closed the campus gates while returning from her nightly patrol. They were long lonely nights when she wasn't accompanied by her usual partner, and the sentence Flora uttered had haunted her since they left those rosy lips of hers:
How many senshi are in Crystal anyway?
She gave a long look at Pegasus as a different piece of information came to mind. Flora had also mentioned that her roommate, the very Rea Marshall, was also her choice of partner in crime when curfew struck. Although Alcyone hardly knew the quiet girl, she did share a few classes with her, and the red hair under the moonlight seemed almost unmistakable now.
"Flora!" She exclaimed, deciding that it wouldn't be the best of ideas to bring up identities, at least for tonight. "I was with her just a couple of nights ago. She's a very nice girl, very easy to talk to. She must be a wonderful partner."
She swung her legs so that they dangled from the roof top, and patted a gloved hand next to her side. "You can sit down next to me, if you'd like. The wind doesn't feel as cold when your body is all scrunched up."

"She is," the senshi of dreams agreed, "I'm very lucky."
Flora was probably the best thing that had happened to her since she had been a senshi. Not only for the convenience -- sneaking out in the middle of the night when your roommate had no idea you were a magic-wielding superhero was next to impossible at times; having your roommate be your partner in crime (so to speak) and knowing she had your back was a godsend -- but because it opened up a whole new doors for them as friends. A secret that big (as well as her generally abrasive personality) made friendships difficult... no matter how great a friend you were with someone, they could never be there for you on that level. Eve had been a great roommate from the start, and when she had become a senshi... she couldn't have been more perfect.
Pegasus drifted from her reverie, returning her gaze back to Alcyone. Blue-green eyes followed those long, coffee-colored legs as they swung out over the side of the building, following the motion idly before glancing at the hand patting the rooftop beside Sailor Alcyone, lifting her eyes to the other senshi's. Again, she felt that electricity, that spark that encompassed the girl in the green skirt, and she almost said no, almost twisted to take a few steps back, as she normally did. Anyone else, and she probably would have declined -- social skills being what they were and all. Instead, she furrowed her eyebrows a little, her expression thoughtful for a few seconds, and then she was moving forward, coming up next to the other senshi and sitting down beside her, letting her legs dangle next to Alcyone's off the side of the coffee-shop roof.
Surprisingly, she was right. It was warmer.
"Do you have a partner?" she asked mildly, her tone curious.

How Alcyone managed to get by every night unnoticed by her own roommate was a mystery that she didn't particularly feel like solving, lest she jinxed the convenience it had been so far and get herself caught. It helped that Bell was the sort of girl that immersed herself in the theatre, so it was always an assumption on Alba's part that she was off doing just that so late at night: practicing her lines on stage or meticulously working on costumes for the next production. She hardly ever saw her roommate outside of the Drama Club, and sometimes she wondered if she'd have a stronger friendship with the girl that shared the same walls as her if she hadn't walked down this very alleyway. Maybe she would have something similar to what Flora and Pegasus had, only more normal.
She could already feel her bare arms begin to tingle with warmth from Pegasus sitting close-by. Whoever designed the notorious senshi fuku did not keep the change of seasons in mind, and while it normally bothered Alcyone to see her skin crack from cold wind exposure, tonight she didn't mind. It had been a long time since she sat so close with another person before, Atlas excluded, and the feelings that were rushing along her skin were static. How couldn't she, with such a girl nearby?
Dark green eyes admired the pale legs of her new companion, appreciating their milky contrast to the concrete they sat upon. "I suppose I do," She began, masking her gazing as though she were deeply thinking about her answer. "I was there when Astraea found him; Sailor Atlas, senshi of gravity. He's very sweet, but very unsure of himself. I wish I could give him the confidence he needs to...well. To do this."
Alcyone gestured her hand to the two of them, implying the act of patrolling or even to simply henshin up. While doing so, she took the opportunity to re-cross her legs and just ever so lightly brushed against Pegasus' in the process. It was a completely innocent transition; clearly, she just needed to re-adjust her sitting position.
With her hand still in the air, she murmured a question. "....Do you ever regret this? Do you ever want to go back to the way it was?"

Pegasus felt the crackle of static as one of Alcyone's legs brushed her own, that grazing touch enough to send her heart into a slightly quicker beat. She wasn't sure what it was about her, but the Senshi of Storms had quickly eased her way past her defenses, leaving the strawberry blonde girl in a fury of conflicting emotions, so familiar to a time not so long ago. Charys, Sailor Nerissa, had been able to do the same thing. It had ended poorly, extremely poorly in fact, but Pegasus couldn't help but feel that same fluttering helplessness as she glanced up into those dark green eyes, soft and mildly curious and enough to make her flush for no good reason.
She wanted to rest her hand on that other gloved one. She wanted to nervously retract it.
"...sometimes I regret it," she admitted softly, her voice dropping lower, as if saying it too loud would take it all away, "I miss the innocence... the way you could walk down the street and not think about how strategic it would be for a Negaverse agent to strike. The way you could go out and not worry about a youma showing up to ruin your date. The way you could go to sleep at night and not dream about what would happen if you fail."
It was a hard admission. She would have never told anyone else, with perhaps the exception of Flora. But then there was that something about Alcyone, and although she just couldn't put her finger on it, it seemed to make everything that much easier. Or that much more reckless.
She let her fingers creep over to brush against the other senshi's, careful to keep her expression neutral as she glanced up into those eyes. "And yet... I don't regret it at all. Because I don't think I could stand the helplessness of not having the power to do something about it." Her voice was near a whisper now, Pegasus' body leaned just a little closer, as if saying all of this in confidence.
"Do you?"

"I'm not sure, to be honest," She admitted, her eyes breaking away from Pegasus' to view the scape of Destiny City, dimly lit by pin point street lights and the glow of each passing car. Alcyone acknowledged the beauty of the city, and one would even go as far as call it a romantic setting for teenage love, but alas, she was jaded from it. There wasn't anything even remotely romantic about dark lieutenants lurking within the abandoned alleyways of the night, or youma interrupting a peaceful afternoon drinking coffee by the shop's veranda. There wasn't any way to know if her life would have continued to go by normally if she hadn't been picked out; would the negaverse not exist for her? Would she just be another hapless victim for them to collect?
"There are days where I wish I didn't have to sneak out every night. There are times in which the only worry I ever want to have is the kind to finish my homework, or what to wear after school. I'd like to have a social life, see what it would be like to have friends for once." See what life would be like living in a stable environment, one that didn't change with every new town or country her parents needed to be in for work. It was something she had always looked forward to about coming to the United States and boarding at an all-girl's school.
Then again, there were other things to be excited about, and she was very aware of this as her hand felt the lightest of touches from her sitting partner. There was a hesitation before she allowed her hand to move on top of Pegasus' in a clasp, gently stroking her thumb along her gloved palm. The senshi of storms took the opportunity to lean fully against her, resting her head ontop of her feathery shoulder. "However, there are times when I realize that because of this uniform, I've met wonderful people that I would have otherwise never had the courage or the ability to meet."
Alcyone's hand squeezed, her heart-beat a flutter from the touch. "For instance...we wouldn't be here right now. And I'm very glad we are."

It was all so familiar. Regrettably, Pegasus could relate to everything the Senshi of Storms was saying. In her minds eye she could see the piles of papers on her desk, homework problems only half finished, rustling in the soft breeze that came through the open window. She could imagine her stallion in the stable at home, and herself on him, riding so fast she felt she might fly, attending her ballet classes, reading a simple book!
Then again... she could see herself alone. Had she not been a senshi, she would have never met any of the people she now considered to be her dearest friends. Never gotten to share the bond of being a senshi with her roommate, patrolling and protecting and confiding in each other. Never met sweet Beth, or sophisticated Ume, or stubborn Delphine, and Chloe would have never pushed her to see how far she could go.
She would have never met Charys... or Alcyone.
"You're right..." she answered, her own heart equally a-flutter, and she shifted her hand to lace her fingers in the other senshi's, blue-green eyes sliding to meet forest green ones, looking just a little awkward and embarrassed. She kept telling herself friends held hands all the time, (which was true,) but even so she couldn't keep the light flush from her cheeks. Definitely not a smooth operator. Pegasus probably couldn't lie herself out of a paper bag. "Wouldn't have nearly as nice a view."

Another static shock coursed through her finger tips down to the crook of her elbow as her palm was greeted by the other. It was almost impossible for Alcyone to keep her hand still as their fingers clasped; so badly did she want to caress that dainty, feminine hand that fit so well against hers, like two pieces from a jigsaw puzzle, always on the white background of the top right hand corner.
She had lifted her head to gaze upon the strawberry blonde as she told her own story, and had her skin not already been dark she might have even reddened in return. "You are too sweet, Ms. Dreams," she murmured before leaning forward and gently placing a light kiss on her pale cheek. It was a quick and simple gesture of affection that had grown in these last few moments. They haven't known each other for very long, but Alcyone had felt that many of their experiences were tied by the same thread. It gave her a sense of connection that even a long time best friend wouldn't be able to acquire, so for all she would care, their conversation has taken a duration of many, many years.
Her hand did not let go when she straightened up, and she allowed her eyes to stare intently into Pegasus' own blue ones. "I hope you never change."
