How would one go about finding their element? Would it be related to Zodiac sign? For instance, I'm Cancer, so would I be water as well?

It confuzzled me. everyone has their own birth element, which is your star sign. but then, everyone feels strongly about a different element. Like me: I'm a Taurus so I'm Earth, it makes sense. However, I feel strongly towards Water the most. so there we go. But really, everyone has a little of everything, but there is one or two that stand out strongly.

So it's like Doshas in Ayurvedic medicine? Vatta (ether+air), Pitta (fire+water), and Kapha (earth+water). Everyone has all three Doshas, but they lean toward one in particular. When they are all in balance, the person is healthy.
