User ImageHe woke. Simple as that. He didn't struggle to stay asleep; didn't fight waking up with the sun glaring in his eyes. That hadn't happened in a long time. Juniper had forced him out of his den, one day when he was out hunting for his meal. He came back to find the ruthless wolf in his den, so he turned tail and walked away. No, Sway didn't want a fight, especially not with him. The lone avoided confrontation any time he could and had no shame in saying he walked away from a fight. Unlike Juniper, Sway was smart and picked his battles.

Still, waking up was not fun when the sun was glaring in his light blue eyes, causing him to wince and sigh. His throat was parched, his muscles ached from walking so much and protested his getting up to stretch. Feeling several of his joints popping, the male grunted and groaned with age that hadn't set upon him yet. He really wasn't that old. Three and a half summers old; not old at all for a wolf. Still, he felt old. He snorted at the thought, dust and dirt flying up from the spot he'd been sniffing at. So he put his nose to the ground to stretch out his muscle, oh well. He'd learn in time that he wasn't in his cave anymore.

He moved out from under the bush he'd stayed in last night and looked around, blinking blearily. Sway wasn't a morning wolf, but then again, anyone who was was insane. That's how he saw it. Taking off in a random direction, Sway let himself look upon his surroundings closer. Squirrels, fox dens, skunks... A lot of pickings around here. Maybe he'd stay in this area a bit longer. So long as...

He smirked as he heard the babbling of a brook up a head of him. "Good.." he croaked out, ears flicking at the echo. Sway was a very cautious wolf, skittish, too. Upon getting to the brook, however, he noticed it wasn't unoccupied.

User ImageThis was not looking good for her. How did she end up surrounded by humans and their stupid dogs, anyway? Thinking back, she realized she'd swayed way to far from her den, got lost, and ended up at a camp of hunters. Seeing her as a threat, because she was a wolf, they chased her through the woods, tracking with their dogs that bays hurt her sensitive ears. Seriously, now did they not go deaf themselves? Clearing her head from that thought, green eyes scanned for a hole in their circle.

Where there wasn't a human, there was a dog. Her ears flattened against her head, a growl ripping from her throat. Someone was going to lose a life today, be it her, human or dog; she was going to get out of this one way or another.

The dogs drew closer to her and she snapped at them, growling and even swiping with her paws to get them to keep their distance. But did they? No. The humans were egging them on, giving them words in that stupid, ugly language of theirs. "Step back you mutts. Do you not know what you are dealing with?" She spat out, eyes narrowing as they came closer still. Nothing left to do. She had to fight soon.

Her eyes moved when she saw a human with a net in his hands and that's when the dog to her blind side jumped. Teeth sank into her fur and skin near her ear, not quite her throat. She yelped and howled, bucking to get him off of her. When that happened, the human threw the net at her. Jayel couldn't out run it; distracted and disoriented by the attack. Now she was captured. Another human jumped on her back, making her yelp again, and fall to the ground. A flash of sharp pain in her neck, and the next thing she knows, she's asleep.

Watching her get captured, through an observers eye, was a hard thing to do. She wasn't yet an adult, clearly, but humans were stupid and probably mistook her for one. Shaking his head, Sway ignored his thirst and disappeared into the woods. His plan of action? Follow them, wait for nightfall, then save the stupid little girl who'd been careless. This was the first time he'd heard of a wolf getting captured by those stupid, furless two leggers. Just the thought made him growl a bit. He hoped, though, that the dogs weren't paying attention to hear it.

Luckily, they weren't. They were trying to get something from the humans. Something about treats? How disgusting. Being a human pet; being at their beck and call. How could any member of the canine family do that to themselves? It was degrading. Even the half wolves he's heard about aren't that sick and twisted. Dogs have lost all their pride.

When the humans got back to their camp, they brought the female into a big tent and Sway got nervous. What would they do with her in there? He couldn't go into the camp right now. Not yet. It was too soon; still daylight, everyone was awake and probably on alert. Reluctantly, Sway crouched at the edge of he camp, hidden well within some brush. It was fall, so everything was turning brown and orange, the colors of his fur, making him have perfect camouflage.

Waking up wasn't fun. Wait... Waking up? She couldn't even think straight. Her brain was completely clouded, and her eyes weren't responding. She couldn't get them to open; they were too heavy. Even her body felt weak and not hers. That's how this summed up; not hers. This wasn't her body, wasn't her day. She heard muffled voices, but didn't know what they were saying.

Help....

That was all she could manage to think. She couldn't say it. Finally wrenching her eyes open, she looked down to her muzzle. There was... a device on it. Something was obscuring her breathing and making her panic. Her eyes shut against her will and it was hell getting them back open.

Now she saw ugly, furless faces of the humans, examining her. Their lips were moving, but she still heard muffled voices. Theirs? Probably. This was so aggravating. She wanted to snap and bite that stupid ugly face, but the thing on her mouth would prevent her from that, she gathered. One of their hands came to her, patted her head and said something and she flinched. But she didn't get to far before there was a pull on her legs. Wait. The humans had her down again? Oh, hell!

The drugs in her system seemed to disappear completely. She thrashed hard. It was useless, apparently. Letting out a howl, the humans flinched and she tried to move again. But she still couldn't. She was confused, pissed off and scared. Another sharp pain in her neck and she was out like a light again.

A howl brought him from his thought. It was a heart wrenching, terrified howl that nearly made him blow his cover by answering it. He stifled the urge, however, and closed his eyes, trying to block out the sound that was making his chest tight. Any wolves chest would have gone tight at that. It was a horrible noise of a brother or sister in pain. No, he didn't know how much longer he could wait. But he needed nightfall. One wolf wouldn't be enough to save her from this many humans in the day light.

Hours went by like this. He'd hear her howl, nearly bolt to her, and then wait, pacing himself. Oh, this was hell. He hadn't eaten, hadn't had anything to drink yet, so he was becoming a very impatient wolf.

Finally nightfall came. His time to save her. Why was he so bent on saving this one female? Because she was just a teenager. Hardly any older than a pup. She deserved to live. Sneaking around the back of the camp, he saw the big tent and moved forward, ears flicking this way and that. He put his nose under he tent flap when he got flat on the ground, and pushed his head through. Looking around, he didn't see the humans in here anymore. Sway smelled blood; but he saw none. It was the strangest sensation.

He moved inside carefully, quietly, keeping with the shadows in the dimly lite tent. "Hey..." he whispered soflty, sniffing around for her. "Where are you? You ok?"
