Missions are adventures taken by teams that will net you rewards and Mission Points necessary to advance in rank.

Missions count as 1 point for every ten floors. This is based on the amount you are required to write, not the amount you write! A mission requiring 20 floors will be worth 2 MP whether you write ten pages or thirty. Of course, writing extra may grant you bonus rewards which are detailed further down!
Furthermore, this count is rounded to the nearest 10. For example, a 16 floor mission would be 2 points as it is rounded up to 20.

Mission Guidelines:
You may not find and claim items inside a mission. All item rewards will be given to you at the end of the mission. So no, you may not find a golden nugget in a treasure chest in the middle of nowhere! If you write a good enough mission, however, the mod might award you one.
When you start writing your mission, open up a writing software with a page count. You will need to write half a page per floor in size 14 font, although your actual post may be any size. This assumes no extra spacing between lines, so no cheating with double-spacing!
For every three floors your mission requires you to traverse, you must fight at least one pokemon. As an example, a 15 floor mission would require 5 fights. Even if you exceed the required writing, the required amount of fights does not change (although you may exceed it by choice.)

At the end of the mission, you will receive a grading. The mod may grant you Bonus Rewards for an exceptional mission. This might be anything from a small amount of PD to a powerful TM. Once it's been graded, you're done!

You may only take one mission every seven days. This timer starts from when your last mission is graded, so please wait a week before trying to reserve another one!

Please be warned that OpenOffice and Microsoft Word count pages differently. If you have written ten pages in OpenOffice, you may have written about 13 in Microsoft Word. This amount seems to fluctuate wildly.

Missions are individual typing adventures that help you rise in the ranks of the guild.

Missions count as 1 point for every ten floors, rounded up or down.
For example, a 16 floor mission would be 2 points as it is rounded up to 20.

Chapters, which are group missions that take place on Saturday, are worth 2 points unless designated otherwise.
On occasion Week Long chapters are given, these count as 1 point per day you participate.

Mission Guidelines:
Depending on how many floors, you will need to make a page in Microsoft Word [or some other writing software].
Microsoft Word and Open Office count pages differently. The difference between the two varies wildly, so we have set MS Word as the standard. MS Word counts more pages than OO does, so your 10 pages in OO may be 12 in MS Word. Please consider this when writing.
Half a page per floor in size 14 font, though you may change the size on your actual post to a smaller one.
This takes in to account no spaced and single spaced pages.
So for a five floor you would have 2 and a half pages.
You must fight one Pokemon per every 3 floors. For example, if it is a 30-floor mission you must fight 10 Pokemon.

ALSO! You may only take one mission at a time per week and you must wait a complete week after your mission is done and graded before taking/reserving another one.

Now, since you know how Missions work, here's how you actually take one step-by-step!

1 - Choose a mission from either your Guild's Bulletin Board or the Guild Exchange general board. If you have a pass or high enough rank, you may choose from any board. Regardless of what guild you're in, you may take any mission from the Guild Exchange board!

2 - Find the dungeon that the mission is in and post a copy of the mission. State that you're claiming it. This tells the mods (and everyone else) that it's yours!

3 - Type your mission as one continuous story. You may employ whatever literary techniques you wish and you have full control of any wild pokemon that appear inside. You do not have to divide your mission into floors, although you may do so if you wish.

4 - Post your mission in the dungeon it takes place in. You may post it in parts as you progress, or wait until the end to post it as a complete product. Once you have finished the mission, make a post in the Grade Request thread. This notifies us that you're done.

5 - Once your mission is complete, you'll have a grading! This details your rewards as well as your recruit options. The grading moderator will choose your recruit options randomly from the pokemon you fought in the mission. This is also where the mystery rewards will be revealed, as well as any bonus rewards the moderator decided to give you.

6 - You're all done! Make a follow-up post accepting or denying any recruits you wish and then update the information in your profile. You'll usually only be able to take one character as a recruit per mission.

Now, for how to actually do a mission. To break it down into steps, basically here's what you do:

1 - Choose a mission from the Mission Bulletin Board, making sure that it's one your rank can do.

2 - Post in the dungeon where your chosen mission takes place, just saying what mission this is that you'll be working on, and that you've claimed it. This will make sure no one else comes and takes your mission before you've finished it. However, keep in mind that if one month goes by without you posting even a part of the mission you claimed, it goes back on the Bulletin Board and anyone else will be free to take it.

3 - Type up your mission like it's one continuous story, you can choose and control what wild pokemon you encounter (just be sure they're species that can be found in whatever dungeon your mission is in), and don't have anyone finding items in the dungeon, we've got that taken care of. Make sure it's the proper length, but other than these few things you can do whatever you want with your mission, what happens is completely up to you!

4 - Post your mission in the thread for the dungeon in which it takes place, and wait for a mod to read it over and grade. Keep in mind, we're only human, so don't be frustrated if it takes a little while for us to grade your mission! Feel free to mention in the OOC or the like that you've posted your completed mission, but don't constantly be bugging the mods about it. We will get to it.

5 - After grading your mission, a mod will post in the thread of the dungeon where your mission is, giving you the rewards the mission promised, along with a few random bonus awards. These bonuses are usually just small things like you would find in dungeons in the games, mainly berries, gummis, apples, and/or PD, and what you get may or may not depend on the quality of your mission. Also, this mod post is where you will be given several options for recruits. Recruits will be chosen from pokemon you battled in your mission, and you will be allowed to pick one (or none if you want) to join your team.

6 - Now you can go and add your points from the mission to your team, update your profiles, and you're all done! Feel free to choose another mission, but you do have to wait one week after completing a mission before taking on another one.

Failure of Missions result in:

-Loss of half your PD.
-Loss of any food items used on that mission.
-Loss of a few items in your inventory. [Mods discretion]

How to fail a mission:

-Not required length.
-Didnt fight the required number of enemies.
-Illiteracy
-Or just plan pathetic. [AKA not attempting to make an interesting story at all.]

Bounty Missions

A Bounty functions a little bit differently from normal missions! They may be found in the Guild Exchange on the Bounty List. They're not entirely different, though.

A bounty and a normal mission are like each other...

- In that they are both writing exercises.
- They both have floor requirements (Bounty's all have a floor requirement of 5 pages)
- That's about it!

However, that being said, they're also different as well!

- A Bounty is not a normal mission. This is reflected in a lot of ways!
- Normally, you have 30 days to complete a mission. You have a mere 5 to complete a bounty! You may also take one every 5 days as opposed to a week! The two are also on separate timers, meaning you may take a bounty while you are ineligible for a mission and vice-versa.
- You do not use food in a Bounty
- Bounty's do not have set rewards. A piddly 3 page Bounty won't net you much, but a whopping 15 page one will!
- If a Bounty is on the board for too long, the criminal will be caught and removed.

Collaboration Missions

Collaboration missions function just like normal missions except with a bit of a twist. That is, there are two (or more) teams involved which are being played by multiple roleplayers. Whether this is the result of one team being managed by multiple people or 2~ distinct teams working together, it is considered a collaboration mission. It's also possible to take a mission with multiple teams under your own control, although this is to be written as a standard mission. If you wish to emulate the "back-and-forth" style of roleplaying as a writing style, that is fine.

- When taking a Collaboration mission, have one (or both) player(s) post in the dungeon claiming the mission, just like normal. The only exception is you must name both players participating.
- Type out the mission in roleplay posts. This is NOT to be done in the dungeon. Create a distinct thread elsewhere (the OOC forum is fine, if you wish to use it) and complete the mission there. Total up the size of the mission as you go to be sure that you have completed it!
- A grading will be posted. Note that it's fully possible for one team to fail the mission (not enough length, for example) without the other partner failing.
- The rewards and floor count is split in half. For example, a 30 floor mission would be considered a 15 floor for each person when split. Any splittable rewards are cut 50/50 and any that cannot be split are to be distributed as agreed upon by the roleplayers. Players can agree to distribute rewards unevenly in order to accommodate a fair trade if they wish (for example, one player takes all the PD but the other takes the sole TM).
- If taking a mission where you control all the teams involved, it functions the same. Split the floors down, divide the rewards etc. This isn't a collaboration in the roleplay sense, but an in-story sense.
- If it's multiple players managing a single team, obviously there is no need to divide the rewards.

For a leading (and currently only) example of a Collaboration Mission, check out the 50 floor mission written by BlackBloodCat and DarrenShade

Free Exploration Missions

For those of you who made it, congratulations on reaching rank four! You now have the option to explore areas freely. Your team may now enter an area without a mission. Of course, since this is a bit different from the norm, there's a different set of rules!

- You ALWAYS have to climb to the very top of the area. You can't go part way up and then leave! That's considered a fail.
- You still need to defeat enemies, as well. One enemy for every three floors, just like normal.
- Just like a normal mission, you receive a grading. The mod who grades it will give you rewards of their choice, along with a choice of recruits. So, just like in the game, even if you come looking for a specific pokemon they may not want to join!
- Free Exploration missions still count against your weekly mission timer, just like a regular mission.
- Even though they count against your timer and receive a grading, they don't get you any mission points! This is because, well, you aren't actually doing anything for the guilds! They don't care that you walked into the woods and beat some people up.
- You may only meet legendary pokemon if you have a Golden Flute (rank 5) and wish to recruit them! Otherwise, you may catch only glimpses of them.
