Welcome to Gaia Town Square's First Annual Secret Santa Gifting Event!
Christmas and all its Spirit of Giving is coming up and Gaia Town Square will celebrate it with a GIFTING EVENT!
Please read ALL instructions carefully for the secret signup task you must complete in order to participate.
1. POST HERE saying, "I want to be a Secret Santa Gifter!" or some such language indicating that you would like to participate. Signups end on Saturday, December 12th at midnight Central Standard Time (which equals 1 am Eastern, 11 pm Mountain, and 10 pm Pacific). You will need to post here, even if you voted and posted in the poll thread.
2. Go to your wish list and make sure you have it peppered with a few items for around 1000 gold each as well as a couple for 2,500, in addition to all the bunny slippers and dark halos you usually have on there. Also, please make sure your profile is available to the public! Remember that this type of event CAN bring out LOTS of extra gifters, so please be sure to include plenty of choices on your wishlist and keep it up-to-date as the event progresses (so you don't get duplicates). If you are trying to complete some of those zOMG recipes, please be sure to post a special wishlist of wanted ingredients on your profile so that your SSG (Secret Santa Gifter) can arrange a trade through Clone of Mindy.
SPECIAL NOTE: If you do not update your wishlist, your SSG will be instructed to give you whatever they see fit.
3. On the evening of December 13th, you will receive a PM from Clone of Mindy saying who the person is to whom you are to give gifts. You will be giving your person a minimum of TWO (2) gifts worth at least 1000 gold each plus ONE (1) gift worth at least 2,500 gold at the end. You can give more gifts or more expensive gifts if you want, but having that minimum number means that everyone will at least get something worthwhile from their SSG.
5. Gifts are to be given ON or BEFORE December 16th, 19th, and December 22nd. PLEASE PM CLONE OF MINDY if you don't have your gifts by three days after each date, and a friendly reminder to your SSG will be sent.
6. ALL gifts should be anonymous and contain hints about who you are in the message. BUT SAVE THE REVEAL OF WHO YOU ARE FOR THE LAST GIFT!
7. Clone of Mindy will accept PMs from folks who wish to get someone's name in particular. This does NOT necessarily mean that that person will be giving gifts to you... unless they sent me a PM telling me that on their own. Also, send me a PM, if there is someone in the group with whom you DON'T want to be matched.
SPECIAL NOTE: If you are signing up with more than one account, please either post here or PM Clone of Mindy to let me know who your mules are so that I don't make you give gifts to yourself!
8. As Mod for this event, I will not pass my own name on to anyone to give gifts (it wouldn't be a secret).
10. When you receive a gift from your SSG, PLEASE post a note on this thread saying thanks so that your person will know that you successfully got it and enjoy it. Plus, the rest of us enjoy hearing about how happy you are as well! Also, PLEASE do not get offended if your person does not post a public thank-you right away or send them harassing messages with gifts. This is supposed to be fun, and some people cannot check their accounts every day. People who participate are generally very grateful for whatever you give them and will post their appreciation as they can.
11. If you want to give your assigned person something that can only be traded (ink for a quest, or zOMG recipe items, for example), Clone of Mindy will be happy to facilitate those sorts of gifts. They will also be willing to spy on people's profiles so they won't be able to tell you've been there. If there is anything else I can do to help, please let me know. I will be happy to do what I can to make this event a success!
13. Secret instructions to be sure you read and understand all that stuff I just said: when you sign up for the event, you must use the phrase "Santa, and Snowmen, and Elves! Oh, my!" in your post. (There's a sign up bonus if you read all of this!
