It was with careful steps -

One, two, three; one, two, three...

- that a brunette walked towards the raised edge of one of the various buildings of Destiny City. It wasn't a skyscraper, but the distance between the ledge and the street below was... a rather daunting thought. So why be up there in the first place? Well...

To... learn?

Sailor Metis gulped for the umpteenth time, watching the swirl of copper and green energies bounced off the man-made structures every which way. A big part of her just wanted to go right back through that rooftop door behind her and race back down to the safety of the ground floor. Only she wouldn't be able to stay in her senshi form if she did... and she'd already ran around the park god knows how many times to keep practicing with this weird.... "sight" of hers... but the trees were all the same, the paths all the same. She needed something new to keep getting used to it. Needed new scenery, a place she didn't already have a good feel of while in her civilian form.

Somehow, the rooftops became her choice out of all the potential options.

...well, after taking out the ones where she might be spotted by people and have the cops rain down on her, that is.

"I would love to see the idiot who gave the public that kind of disgusting view of scouts... we're not bad people," she growled to the wind, licking her dry lips as she took yet another breath and, yet again, started her slow trek towards the edge of the roof. Even up there she could hear the traffic, the sounds echoing up the buildings and beating themselves into her ears. A uniform buzz of nightlife chatter from pedestrians and sirens in the distance was an odd comfort, something to focus on along with the placement of her feet instead of the drop. It's not like she was going to jump, just... "see" the world from a different angle and figure out how to get her bearings in the city.

What would she do if a youma attacked while she was walking to the library or something? She'd be completely thrown off balance! Thus the needed practice and learning.... once she got to the edge.

One, two, three; one, two, three...

There was that -feeling- again, that pent up 'gotta get out of here' knot in her stomach, same as it was any night this week, lately it just didn't want to go away. The more seeds she took to save her hide. The stronger the feeling god.

Guilt? Not quite, but it didn't feel good either. Like a predator being fed hamburger.

The knot in her belly had her so twisted up she didn't realize there was a Senshi on that next roof till she was already leaping towards it.
She hissed through her teeth and drew her weapon, the thick wooden mask before she landed in a roll and came to her feet scant yards away.

She was torn, about them... Where were THEY when Charys was beat to hell, where were THEY when the Negaverse took her. But at the same time, they were NOT the Negaverse, they fought it, and they were holding their own surprisingly well all things considered.

Oh well... better get it over with, she couldn't just -run- after all. SOMEONE would know. Someone -always- knew.

"Lt. Moonstone... " she declared narrowing her eyes.
She had no real 'battlecry' - so she just shifted her mask, gripping the cord so that the nose was over her fist, a tiny sheild, or wooden 'knuckles', she'd had to figure out how best to use it, since once thrown it was as good as useless.

She didn't bother waiting for a responding introduction, let the girl say it on the fly. She lunged striking forward with the masked fist.

One minute she's just focusing on the dark shapes outlined by the energies, nearing the edge little by little, her nerves screaming at her... the next, there's... some... one... up here?

Wait.

What?!

She turned just fast enough to see the other girl, take in the copper aura and the faint details outlined by the energy bouncing around her. Confusion made her reactions slow as she tried to make sense of the strange clothes, so unlike any of the senshi's she'd seen thus far. Her thought process was quickly put on hold however, yelping as she quickly sidestepped a few good feet to get out of the way of the sudden, and very random, attack.

"W-what are you doing?" she called, swiveling her head side to side to try and take in the whole scene. There wasn't a monster behind her, so the girl couldn't have been aiming for something like that... she was aiming for her then? Why? Lieutenant... Moonstone? As in... someone from the military? "Why did you attack me? I haven't done anything!" That girl didn't seem to be wearing any military uniform she was familiar with... and what was with the mask? Metis took a few more hesitant steps back, brow crinkled as she took in a rather disturbing feature of the other's aura.

It was copper all right... but... there were tendrils in it, like how Sailor Iris' had... but these weren't the white she was used to. These were... black? Instantly she thought of the youma, the total black energy surrounding it, and her eyes narrowed slightly. What... was this girl? "Are you... a youma?"
PostPosted: Sun Dec 06, 2009 9:24 pm

Was this girl for -real-? She leaped back to a 'safe' distance to assess the situation. Did she even know, about the Negaverse?... Why though would she ask if she was YOUMA of all things.

"No..." She scowled eyeing the girl.
"What, are you NEW at this? Don't they tell you ANYTHING? Even I know about Senshi, though your the first I've met in person." She scowled glancing her over.

Metis winced slightly at the questions, not especially liking the sense of stupidity that was starting to settle around her now. "I've... been at this for a little while," she stated carefully, standing up a little straighter in her defense. She knew enough about the monsters, but... if this girl wasn't one, then what was with the black tendrils? She'd never seen anything like that before... so what did it mean?

A sinking feeling in her gut told her it couldn't be anything good though, judging by how this little meeting started.

"Other Senshi and youma are all I've encountered thus far. If there was more for me to know... then it seems someone's neglected to let me in on the little secret." She crossed her arms before her, keeping her empty eyes steady on the other. What else was she missing then? She'd heard rumors about another group, something not of the scouts, that was also causing all sorts of "pranks" around the city. She'd just assumed it was the youmas, but now...

She scowled herself, realizing she didn't like this lack of information one little bit. "What are you then, Lt. Moonstone? Not a Senshi, not a youma, what else is there then to be?"
PostPosted: Sun Dec 06, 2009 9:59 pm

"Negaverse" she replied, an unmistakeable tone of disgust in her voice at the word. "Killers, conscripted killers, some voluntary, some -not-" She emphasized the last word. "We do our work or risk the consequences, what of you?" She demanded "What drives the Senshi? What determines where you will or will not be? Anything past blind luck?"

She didn't realize the irony of her words of course, the girl before her dodged well enough to see. And while she wanted to lash out again she bided her time like a predatory cat.

Her brow lifted at first, taking in the sour way in which she said the word, though making heavy note of the name. Negaverse. She was sure she'd remember such a name, which put to ease her nerves that she might have forgotten something important. However, the continued description of them didn't do anything to make her relax, even with the girl's last emphasis. If her blunt translation was right, it meant this girl was a potential threat... even if she did or did not want to be such.

It was difficult to resist at least smiling at her choice of words, though she kept a strong expression as she responded clearly, "I can't speak for any of the others, but as to what drives me... Isn't it easy to see?" She let her hands fall to her sides, one fanning out to gesture to the city spanning out to their side, where moments before she'd been facing as she did her little - scary - exercise. "I want to protect this place. The people aren't always the nicest, cleanest, friendliest bunch... but there are still good people down there, living their lives to the fullest... and I'll do whatever I can to make sure they can continue to do so." Her memories flicked to the horrid folk who'd treat her so differently, like a pariah, just because of her disability... "Even the wicked deserve the right to live."

She'd never made a speech, even one so short, like that before. Her words echoed in her head, her body... and some of the fright of standing there on the rooftops, facing someone who'd just attacked her... started to dissipate. She was here for a reason, and she'd be damned if she let this chick get the best of her. Purpose over consequences, after all.

"well aren't -you- the lucky one..." She said dryly, she wanted to protect them hmm? The ones she loved, even the ones she didn't.
Perhaps that made her a 'bigger' person than Moonstone, what she wanted most were selfish things, her friends and family safe, her -life-, all of that was of course, bound up in her oath to the negaverse.

"You and yours, need to start working a LOT harder then." Every day people die, star-seeds stolen, no one is safe, not even... children. Not students. Any where you aren't...assume that one of 'Us' is there." She growled her eyes narrowing.

"And now assume, we have to fight, because I don't want to die today...and while I don't give a DAMN if you chose to run, I won't loose the things I care about just because I still hold some envy for your ideals."

The energy in the air shifted, and Metis' eyes narrowed once again. Negative Negaverse... Her arm fell back to her side, turning her body slightly sideways as she prepared herself for the battle to come. "If that's the case," she challenged, voice soft and heated, "we'll just have to become stronger and cover more ground until there's no place left for you to be without one of 'us' there."

It was a tall order, especially for a girl who'd only met one other Senshi up till that point. But it wasn't like she'd know that, and besides... who knows, maybe eventually... the Senshi could join into that kind of collective. Maybe.

Closing her eyes briefly, she placed her hand over her broach. "You introduced yourself before, so allow me to do so now. I am Sailor Metis." Still she didn't open them, though she could still see the world around her, copper energies filling the empty space, forming soliloquies of obstacles and defining details on people. "I can see it... the countless auras of this beautiful world..." Opening her useless optics, she drew her hand to her tiara, readying for her attack. "And in order to protect it, I'll show you a sight you'll never forget!"

So what if she was envious of her ideals? If that was the case, Moonstone could back down as far as Metis was concerned. Die? She couldn't understand what the other girl meant, why it was she could be killed if she didn't fight. But whatever the reason, each girl had their own reason to fight at least. The only question was... how far would it go? Whatever the answer was to that, in the back of her mind, she made a silent prayer to be able to return home to her dorm and beloved canine that night. And made a promise to call her parents in the morning should all go... well, as "well" as a fight could go.

"Better start trying then 'sweetie'... I'll give you a -reason- to fight."
She leaped forward like she aimed to clear to the next building but drew back her fist with the mask to drill home a punch.

"BIG TALK SOLVES NOTHING!!" She raged. All talk, maybe that was all the senshi were, talk. So much talk and prancing around in mini skirts.

She steadied herself, a bit of a smirk sparking to her features as multicolored orbs began to condense beneath her fingers hovering above the gem on her tiara. "Consider it a start, 'hun,'" was her simple retort, drawing her hand away with a white orb of energy curling itself up in her cupped palm.

Aiming for the incoming human projectile, she cried out, "Mind's Eye Flare~!" and flung the orb as hard as she could. Her timing was a little off, she noted with a wince, as she quickly tried to backpedal to the side to try and avoid the impact of wood against skin. At least it didn't hit her in the face, though she wasn't fast enough to keep it from slamming against her right shoulder.

Ffffffffffffffffffffffffff-

That hurt! Be it her lack of experience or what, but the hit was enough to knock a good chunk of the air out of her lungs, stumbling back to try and get some more distance between her and her opponent. Hand rising to carefully grab the sore area, it was then... a bit of the blind girl's usual mindset began to slip back in. Reality check: she couldn't fight. This chick could!

...maybe she was just a bit over her head right now...

"********!!!!"

Came the string of expletives as Moonstone screeched to a halt, blinded, disoriented, Swinging her mask in a wide dangerous arc from side to side -furious- or at the VERY least surprised. "SOnofa..."

It was difficult to give a smug, if not rather triumphant, smirk as she listened to the list of profanities being flung from the other girl's mouth. Welcome to my world, she thought to herself with a hint of malice, backing herself up to avoid getting slammed by yet another mask attack. Her shoulder was already turning an oh so lovely shade of dark brown, and she noticed with a hiss trying to move her arm too much... wasn't a very pleasant thing.

In the back of her mind, she had to wonder how much of a wuss that made her.

Really though, this whole thing was rather wonderful for blowing up in her face. Talked too big a talk, got hit... and honestly, is very much on the losing side of this match.

Not fun.

She took in the copper, black, and now white dotted aura of the other, biting her lip in thought. Stay and get the crap beaten out of her and maybe get killed, or bolt and keep what little of her dignity she had left.

...honestly, it was actually a tough choice. But with a snap of her jaw clicking shut, teeth grinding in frustration, Metis did what was probably the smartest thing she'd done all night. She ran.

She didn't say anything to Moonstone, just a simple soft curse and turned her attention to the empty spaces in her "vision" where the door was back down into the building. And ran on through. It was a coward's way out, she had to admit... but if it would keep her alive and let her fight again another day... it almost seemed worth it.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 10, 2009 11:34 pm

Moonstone's words chased her, away and down into the streets below..
"WELL!?! DO SOMETHING!! -FINISH IT-"

Only the only thing she caught was the sound of retreating feet, and she didn't even trust herself to follow, she was -dizzy- disoriented -BLINDED- and she could only pray it was temporary.

She dropped to her knees and her shoulders shook with sobs but she couldn't positively swear as to why... no matter how much she wanted to.

Down the flights of steps she ran, the lack of people within the stairwell and too much rock and stone and metal around her causing her mental sight to fade and the darkness to creep up more upon her. It at least didn't take long for her to hit the ground floor, finding her walking stick hidden with boxes of junk that had to be storage. Powering down, Lilith accepted the blackness with a sigh, wincing as the breath made her jostle her shoulder. It was tender... and throbbing.... great.

Finish it? Lilith scowled, pick her way carefully out of the stairwell, through the lobby of the building, and out onto the street, the same life she'd seen from above now bustling around her. Was that girl still up there? Her vision would return in due time, Metis' attack could last for only so long after all, but still... she couldn't help but grip her stick all the tighter, her knuckles fading into a similar color. Oh, they'd finish it alright.

Someday...
